Samuel Morin, the middle-aged man in the wheelchair, rolled over to where Shawn Young lay unconscious. He leaned forward slightly, placing his fingers on Shawn’s pulse to check. His brows furrowed and he let out a soft sigh, then wheeled himself over to the corpses of Leon Yan and Tyler Yan. He flipped Tyler’s body and searched him, finding a white porcelain vial. His face lit up as he tucked the vial away, then glanced around and spotted Felix Eagleclaw in a corner, still wrapped up in “Rotting Ghost Silk” like a mummy, struggling and whimpering.
Samuel Morin immediately wheeled himself over to Felix Eagleclaw. He took off a string of prayer beads from his neck, murmured a chant, and tossed the beads onto Felix—whoosh! The beads landed, glowing faintly white. Instantly, the “Rotting Ghost Silk” tightly wrapping Felix shattered, dissolving into green smoke that slowly faded away.
"Big Brother! You—you finally made it!" Felix Eagleclaw scrambled free and crawled up from the ground, shouting to Samuel Morin.
"Mm-hmm, but I was still a bit late. Sorry you had to suffer, Felix," Samuel Morin said apologetically.
"Hey—don’t say that, Big Brother. I don’t mind a little suffering. If it weren’t for your help, I’d have died long ago—" Felix said quickly.
"Uh—Felix, don’t say that. We’re brothers, family. No need to keep talking about saving each other—it sounds weird. Besides, you’ve done so much for the Morin Family over the years—" Samuel Morin waved his hand, interrupting Felix.
"Alright, let’s drop it then—uh—what happened to Brother Shawn? Why is he—" Felix suddenly noticed Shawn Young lying unconscious and asked in alarm.
"Oh! He’s exhausted himself. He kept casting powerful spells and burned up all his inner energy, so he’s in pretty bad shape right now," Samuel Morin said, frowning.
Felix quickly rushed over, checked Shawn’s pulse and breathing, his white eyebrows furrowing as he said gravely to Samuel Morin, "Oh no—his pulse is weak and his breathing is erratic. His vital energy has taken a huge hit! If we don’t help him recover soon, half his martial arts could be ruined!"
