Evan Chu and the others immediately rushed over. Selena glanced at Roland Lowell and said, "His poison has been purged. He'll wake up soon. That Bloodshadow Berserker Lion really is incredible."
Hearing Selena say he was fine, everyone relaxed. Rowena Luo, in particular, broke into a smile through her tears and looked at Evan Chu, saying, "Thank you, Evan. If it weren't for you, my father might really have left me. I will never forget this favor—I'll repay you someday!"
Evan Chu chuckled, "Heh, how are you going to repay me? Don't tell me you're planning to offer yourself. I've already got plenty of women, so if that's your idea, forget it—I don't need a tomboy hanging around."
"You... you just love bullying me," Rowena Luo glared at Evan Chu.
At that moment, Shadow shrank back to his normal size and walked over to Evan Chu, saying, "Big Brother, I didn't let you down, huh? Good thing you called me out in time—if you'd waited a few more minutes, I couldn't have saved him."
"Shadow, you did great. Big Brother appreciates you. But could you shrink down a bit? You're so huge it's kind of distracting," Evan Chu laughed.
Shadow flashed with red light, instantly turning into a tiny puppy. He trotted over to Evan Chu's feet and said, "How's this? Big Brother, I want to hang out outside for a while—you're not gonna object, right?"
Evan Chu picked Shadow up and said, "Of course not. By the way, what rank are you at now? I feel like your strength jumped quite a bit."
"I've reached eighth rank already. The energy from the Mystic Ice Toad and Flame Spider was top-notch. If I get another shot like that, I can break straight through to King Rank," Shadow replied.
Just then, Roland Lowell stirred and opened his eyes. Seeing everyone looking at him, he asked, "What happened? Why do I feel like the poison in my body is gone?"
"Dad! You're finally awake! Evan Chu helped you get rid of the poison—you scared me half to death!" Rowena Luo hurriedly helped Roland Lowell up as she spoke.
Roland Lowell looked at Evan Chu and said, "Thank you, Evan. Without you, I might be dead right now. I'll never forget this debt."
I have no idea what's going on in the Royal Capital right now. Who would've thought Winston Ying, that bastard, had planted his lackeys right by my side? Our Heavenly Dragon Empire's military secrets might already be leaked."
"Don't worry, General. We'll get you back to the Second Prince's Manor—I'm sure it's safe there now," Evan Chu said.
"Lin'er, you go back to the Great General's Manor. I'm worried your mother and the others are in danger. I'm certain Winston Ying's lackeys have infiltrated our household too," Roland Lowell said anxiously.
Evan Chu understood Roland Lowell's worry, so he said to Gavin Wei, "Gavin, go with Rowena and check things out. We'll escort the General to the Second Prince's Manor and come over after. If anything happens, stay calm and wait for us to get back."
"Got it, Long-ge. Don't worry! I know what to do," Gavin Wei replied.
Rowena Luo and Gavin Wei immediately left, racing toward the Great General's Manor. Evan Chu, Selena, Roland Lowell, and Shadow stayed behind.
"Let's go too. If we're late, things might change for the worse," Evan Chu said.
Roland Lowell was extremely weak at this point. He could barely walk, and the Second Prince's Manor was still a long way off.
Evan Chu hoisted Roland Lowell onto his back. Selena said, "Give me your hand!"
Evan knew she was about to fly them straight over. Flying with someone burns a ton of stellar force, and Selena was about to carry two people at once—not easy at all.
Shadow seemed to get the idea, flashed red, and instantly returned to Evan Chu's body. Evan grabbed Selena's hand, and they shot up into the sky.
Wind roared past their ears. In just a few breaths, they landed at the Second Prince's Manor. Sure enough, chaos reigned—plenty of people had already been killed, guards and guest experts alike.
Evan quickly spotted Skylar Yule and Elder Warren. They were standing before a pile of corpses, faces full of grief.
Evan Chu, carrying Roland Lowell, walked over with Selena. Skylar Yule immediately approached when he saw them arrive. Spotting Roland on Evan's back, he said, "I didn't expect General Lowell to be ambushed by Winston Ying's lackeys too. We've taken a heavy hit this time."
"It's all because I trusted the wrong people—led to this disaster. If it weren't for Evan and the Auction Master, I'd be dead now. So, what happened here?" Roland Lowell asked.
"My manor had thirty-one golden-armored guards. Eleven guest experts died, three of them slain by Elder Warren. I killed six guards myself, and Elder Warren took out nine more," Skylar Yule said.
After looking over the pile of dead bodies, Evan Chu asked, "Did these people die from poisoning too?"
"That's right, all poisoned to death. Elder Warren and I only survived because we were at the palace with Father. Otherwise, this manor would've been seized by traitors ages ago," Skylar Yule said angrily.
"Is His Majesty alright?" Roland Lowell asked.
"Father is fine. The palace is heavily guarded—even with all of Winston's lackeys, it's not easy to get someone close to him. The palace is stable now, but the Royal Capital is a total disaster," Skylar Yule said.
After setting Roland Lowell down, Evan Chu said, "Second Prince, I'll leave General Lowell in your and Elder Warren's care for now. I need to hurry back to the Great General's Manor—who knows what's happening there."
"Go, and be careful! We'll take care of General Lowell," Skylar Yule replied.
Evan Chu quickly asked for directions to the Great General's Manor, then turned to Selena and said, "Selena, let's go!"
He proactively reached out his hand. Selena glanced at Evan Chu and smiled, "You finally took the initiative—I thought you'd always be a blockhead!" With that, she grabbed him and shot into the sky, heading straight for the Great General's Manor.
From the air, Evan Chu saw the Royal Capital had become hell on earth. Loyalist soldiers and Winston Ying's lackeys were fighting everywhere—screams and cries echoed, fires raged, thick smoke billowed. It was a living nightmare.
Soon, Selena and Evan Chu arrived at the Great General's Manor. Sure enough, chaos had broken out—maids and servants lay dead in pools of blood, several rooms were still burning.
"Rowena and Gavin must be in trouble! Let's find them—quick!" Evan Chu shouted.
The manor was huge. Evan Chu searched for ages and still couldn't find them. Frustrated, he cursed, "Damn it! What's the point of building a place this big? I'm about to get lost in here!"
Evan Chu grumbled. Just then, Selena said, "Lin Feng, hurry! I hear Gavin's voice—they're on the west side..."
