Supreme Emperor’s Estate 5
Lily Bai glanced at Jenny Shaw, remembering what Angel An said earlier, and suddenly found herself understanding why Jenny had such a cool, reserved personality.
......
"Lily Bai." At that moment, Xena Xiao walked in and called Lily by name.
Angel An, however, didn’t follow her in.
Xena Xiao's face wasn’t exactly stunning, but she was tall, walked with purpose, radiated confidence and grace, and had a commanding presence.
Lily looked at her.
"In Haicheng, was it you who kicked Angel’s child out?" Xena’s eyes burned with anger.
Just then, the Supreme Emperor and the Third Prince Xiao couple entered from behind and overheard her question.
Lily replied, "Actually, her fake belly wasn’t kicked out—it was pulled off by hand."
"Looks like she wasn’t lying—it really was you!" Xena sat down across from her.
Lily Bai nodded. "It was me!"
"I heard you're General Lan's granddaughter?"
"Mm-hmm," Lily replied.
"No wonder! You really do have the right to be arrogant!"
Eric Lan glanced at Xena and said, "Sister Xena, my cousin Lily has every right to be bold. I'd advise you not to mess with her!"
"Is that so?" Xena tilted her head and sized her up.
Lily smiled faintly and said, "As the saying goes, 'Better to tear down ten temples than ruin one marriage.'
Faking a pregnancy and crashing someone’s wedding—that’s even worse than tearing down ten temples.
I exposed her... I call that a sense of justice, not arrogance."
"Mm! Well said!" Xena was about to respond when the Supreme Emperor chimed in, "No wonder you’re the model citizen who’s earned five medals from me!"
Lily Bai flashed the President a sweet smile. "Thank you for the compliment, Mr. President."
Xena Xiao took a deep breath and didn’t say anything else.
Meanwhile, Shawn Xiao suddenly became super interested in Lily and started bombarding her with questions.
"Nobody else could tell her belly was fake. How did you know?"
"Are you friends with that bride?"
"You actually show up on Baidu! Bai Corporation heiress... and you know kung fu? You really know kung fu?"
Then Eric Lan started hyping up his cousin next to him, gushing about how awesome Lily is...
......
Lily was already very familiar with the Supreme Emperor.
The Third Prince Xiao and his wife were just as easygoing as the Supreme Emperor. During dinner, they smiled and asked Lily and her brother a few basic questions, but didn’t pry any further.
Then they warmly asked Eric Lan why he’d gone off to Haicheng.
Eric replied with mock seriousness, "Two reasons. First, to keep far away from enemy General Lan. Second, to protect our side’s Princess Jenny."
Everyone burst out laughing at his answer.
Shawn Xiao snorted, "Please, we all know you went there just for my second sister!"
"So what if I did!" Eric looked right at Jenny Shaw. "I’m going to be your brother-in-law sooner or later!"
"Ha! You? You’d better beat her in a fight first." Shawn rolled his eyes.
......
With Eric’s clowning around, the whole dinner ended in constant laughter.
Afterward, the Third Prince Xiao’s family said their goodbyes and left.
Lily and her group got ready to leave too. She told Jenny she’d swing by her room to grab the dress and heels she’d changed out of earlier.
When they got to Jenny’s room, Jenny suddenly asked, "Do you ever wonder why Angel An talks about me like that?"
Lily looked at her apologetically. "It’s all because of me—she only started mouthing off because I was here. Sorry about that."
"It’s not about you. I’ve never gotten along with her. Every time we meet, we fight." Jenny said.
