Evan Chu’s strike blasted a massive hole straight through the Gale Leopard’s enormous body. Beast blood and entrails splattered everywhere in midair, making for a truly terrifying sight.
The Gale Leopard was killed instantly by Evan’s blow, plummeting from the sky and smashing through several giant trees before crashing into the ground and leaving a huge crater.
Evan’s instant kill of the Gale Leopard stunned everyone present, especially the other two monster beasts who had taken on human form—they could hardly believe their eyes.
“That brat’s only at First-Layer Divine Martial Realm, and he actually managed to kill the leopard? That’s just unnatural!” the old woman exclaimed.
“His defense is insanely tough—even stronger than ours as monster beasts! Looks like we’ll have to leave him to the Protector. I’ll deal with those people on Goldfeathers. Who would’ve thought they could turn Goldfeathers into a flying beast? This group is definitely not simple!” the middle-aged man said.
“None of these people are simple. We’d better take them back to the Beast King Hall and let the Hall Master decide. They might be direct disciples of one of the big sects. If we actually kill them, it could bring trouble to our monster beast race. With everything so unstable right now, we need to be careful,” the old woman warned.
(Author’s note: I have guests at home today—next update will be tonight!)
Evan and his group couldn’t hear their conversation, but they could easily imagine the two were plotting how to deal with them. Evan flew straight over to Selena and the others, his expression serious as he said:
“Those two are definitely even stronger—especially that old woman. I’ll keep her occupied while you all make a quick escape. Don’t worry about my safety. In this world, no one can truly kill me.”
“Understood. Goldfeathers will take Luna Chu and the others away first. If Selena and I can team up to kill that guy, great; if not, we’ll retreat right away. Just be careful!” Claire said.
As Evan spoke with Selena and the others, the old woman and the middle-aged man flew over. Selena and Claire had already left Goldfeathers’ back, while Goldfeathers quickly carried Skylar Yule and Luna Chu off in another direction.
“Kid, who exactly are you people and why have you come to our Monster Beast Forest?” the old woman asked again, seeming not to care that Evan had just killed her companion.
“I told you, I got lost and was teleported in by accident. Why won’t you believe me?” Evan said.
“Protector, there’s no need to waste words with them. Just stick to the plan!” the middle-aged man said.
With a flash, the man’s figure blurred and shot toward Selena and Claire, while the old woman appeared before Evan in an instant—her speed was downright uncanny.
“If you surrender quietly, I might let you off. Otherwise, you’ll suffer inhuman torment,” the old woman said with a smile, showing no concern at all for Evan.
“Evan, that old hag’s at peak Eighth-Layer Divine Martial Realm—you need to be careful! That guy’s at Seventh-Layer Divine Martial too. Selena and Claire are in real danger!” Sword Spirit Luna warned.
“That strong? Even tougher than I thought… This is going to be a real problem,” Evan said worriedly.
“You want me to surrender? Let’s see what you’ve got! I’m not someone who scares easy!” Evan shot back.
By now, the middle-aged man was already fighting Selena and Claire. Evan wasn’t too worried about them—Claire had the Goldscale Coat, so she couldn’t be hurt, and as long as Selena focused on protecting herself, she’d be fine.
Evan instantly hurled an ice-and-fire orb at the old woman. He knew this attack couldn’t really hurt her, but hoped to use the moment she blocked it to make a quick getaway. If she switched targets and threatened Selena instead, things would get truly ugly.
Evan was fast—he shot out over a hundred meters in a blink. As the ice-and-fire orb reached the old woman, she whipped up a fiery energy barrier with both hands, forming a shield around herself.
The ice-and-fire orb collided with the barrier in a deafening explosion. The whole space seemed ready to collapse, trembling nonstop. Weaker monster beasts in the forest panicked and scattered.
The energy barrier shattered instantly, blasting the old woman several meters back. She wasn’t hurt, but stared in shock at Evan’s escape route. “What kind of martial art is that? How does it have such insane power?” she muttered.
Meanwhile, Selena and Claire were fighting as they retreated. Both were smart enough not to let the two experts team up—if they got caught and became hostages, even Evan’s strength wouldn’t save them.
The old woman was furious—she’d actually been forced back by a junior’s attack! With a flash, she shot after Evan.
Evan glanced back and saw the old woman chasing him. His biggest worry was solved, so he flew at full speed. He was fast, but she was even faster. After dozens of kilometers, she was only a few dozen meters behind him.
“Think you can run, kid?” the old woman sneered, then struck at Evan with a palm from afar. The blow crackled with thunder, making Evan’s heart skip a beat as he dodged to the side.
Maybe Evan underestimated her—her palm strike had already locked down every escape route. This was the mark of a true expert’s grasp of spatial law. Of course, she’d only scratched the surface; if she’d mastered it, Evan wouldn’t have gotten this far—she could’ve just teleported to catch him.
Bang! The old woman’s palm landed squarely on Evan’s back. His defense was tough, but the force still made his back ache and left him with a faint internal injury.
Evan spun around and snapped, “Old hag, you dare sneak attack me? You’ve got a death wish!”
As soon as Evan finished, his whole body was covered in white stone—he deployed Earthshift with practiced ease. With this layer of defense, he didn’t fear her palm strikes anymore.
“Kid, your defense really is something. That palm would’ve seriously injured a Fifth-Layer Divine Martial cultivator, but you’re fine! Your body-refining martial art must be extraordinary!” the old woman scoffed, not taking his words to heart.
Evan drew the Frostbane Sword, instantly channeling both ice and fire elements onto the blade. This was his first time using both at once—he’d fused them inside his body before, but never directly into a martial art…
