Demonstration of Military Firearms
Inside the secret room of the Prince of Qin's Manor.
Alexander Hayes looked at the pile of oddly-shaped, scattered machines before him, then turned to Lily Evans and asked, "Darling, are these the things you said could destroy our nation?"
Lily Evans walked to the Spinning Jenny, gently stroked its cold metal, and turned to Alexander Hayes: "This is called the Spinning Jenny. What you see here are unassembled parts. Once assembled, it can be used for weaving cloth. The earliest Spinning Jenny was hand-cranked, but this is the fifth-generation improved model, powered by electricity. With this machine, textile efficiency increases dramatically—a single machine's daily output equals that of a thousand workers."
"What is electricity? And this machine, is it really so powerful that it can do the work of a thousand people in one day?" Alexander Hayes was clearly hearing about these things for the first time and was completely confused.
Lily Evans knew it was impossible to explain modern industry to someone from ancient times in just a few words. She sighed, "Seeing is believing, hearing is deceiving. I can't explain modern industry in just a few sentences. Never mind, tonight I'll give you a direct look at France's firearms, and you'll understand the gap between the two civilizations."
After speaking, Lily Evans walked out, with Alexander Hayes following behind, still utterly confused.
Firearms? What on earth are those?
But seeing Lily Evans so serious, Alexander Hayes knew his wife was exceptionally knowledgeable and surely not joking around, so he patiently waited until nightfall.
That night, Lily Evans brought Alexander Hayes to the secret courtyard behind Prince of Qin's Manor. There, Edward was already waiting, standing beside a row of peculiar machines.
"Your Highness, Princess Lily Hayes, the firearms demonstration is ready to begin. Please stand back for safety." Edward respectfully bowed and reminded them.
Lily Evans nodded and pulled Alexander Hayes back a few steps, standing at a safe distance.
Edward pressed a switch on one of the machines. With a loud bang, a metal ball shot out, instantly shattering a stone target set up in the courtyard.
The force was so great that even the guards present were stunned, their mouths agape.
Alexander Hayes stared at the shattered stone, unable to speak for a long moment.
Lily Evans smiled and explained, "This is just the simplest firearm. The ones used in France are even more advanced. If these weapons were deployed on the battlefield, our current army would be powerless to resist."
Alexander Hayes finally recovered from his shock and asked, "Can you make these firearms in large quantities?"
Lily Evans nodded, "As long as we have the necessary raw materials and skilled craftsmen, mass production is possible. However, the most critical part is the technology behind it."
Alexander Hayes grew solemn. "If these firearms fall into the wrong hands, it could bring disaster upon the world."
Edward interjected, "That is why France strictly controls the export of firearms technology. Even I had to go through countless hardships to bring this sample here."
Lily Evans looked at Alexander Hayes and said earnestly, "If you want to protect your country, you must master this technology before anyone else does."
Alexander Hayes clenched his fists, his eyes burning with determination.
Lily Evans glanced at Edward, who quietly handed her a thick stack of blueprints.
With these blueprints in hand, the future of the Prince of Qin's Manor—and perhaps the entire world—was about to change.
