Conflict Before the Secret Chamber

2/14/2026

The three men naturally understood Easton Situ's intentions. Though they weren't under his direct command, seeing a chance for profit, they weren't about to let it slip by. All at once, they unleashed their aura, intending to quickly take down Evan Yang.

"Stop!" An angry shout rang out from inside the manor. Moments later, Jace Situ emerged with a middle-aged man dressed in white, a belt cinched at his waist, hair tousled, eyes glaring furiously at the three men.

Seeing the real authority arrive, the three men quickly withdrew their hands and retreated to Easton Situ's side, not daring to act rashly. After all, the current head of the Situ Clan was still the man before them—Skyward Situ.

Easton Situ, seeing that it was Skyward Situ, hurriedly stepped aside, a bit embarrassed and wanting to slip away, but was stopped by Skyward Situ. "Who are these three?"

"Father, these are the bodyguards Mother arranged for me," Easton Situ replied respectfully.

"Your mother? Why haven't I heard anything about this from her?" Skyward Situ answered, a bit displeased.

"Uh, Father, it all happened so suddenly—I didn't have time to report it yet." Easton Situ, seeing his mother wasn't here, didn't dare provoke the real authority, so he could only explain helplessly.

"What do you mean, didn't have time? Are you all so unruly that you dare to make a move inside the clan?" Skyward Situ's anger grew as he spoke.

"Father, I'll take them away right now," Easton Situ quickly said, trying to avoid further conflict.

"You want to leave now? Or are you waiting for your mother to come?" Skyward Situ shot him a glare.

"No need, we'll leave right now." Easton Situ quickly slunk away, taking his people with him.

"Father." Jace Situ called out, seeing Easton Situ leave just like that.

"Let them go." Skyward Situ sighed helplessly as he watched Easton and his group leave.

Seeing things finally calm down, Evan Yang respectfully said, "I am Evan Yang, greetings to the head of the Situ Clan."

"This isn't a suitable place to talk. Please follow me." Skyward Situ didn't speak with Evan Yang right away; instead, he said this and, led by Jace Situ, the three of them arrived at a secret chamber.

"Even in their own clan, they need a secret chamber?" Evan Yang wondered about this as he walked along.

After arriving at the secret chamber, Skyward Situ asked Jace Situ to stand guard outside, then walked over to Evan Yang and said, "I'm truly sorry about earlier!"

"It's fine, Skyward Situ. I came mainly to let you know that Lana Situ is safe." Evan Yang's purpose in coming to the Situ Clan was to clear up misunderstandings and deliver news about Lana Situ.

"Of course. The moment I saw you, I already knew that Lana Situ was safe." Skyward Situ's long-held worry about Lana Situ finally eased, and he smiled.

"Oh?" Evan Yang was surprised. He hadn't said anything yet, so how did Skyward Situ know Lana Situ's fate?

"You must be pretty surprised. Actually, you have a jade pendant on you, right? It should be from Lana Situ." Skyward Situ looked at Evan Yang and asked.

Could it be because of the pendant? Evan Yang took out the jade pendant Lana Situ had given him. The moment Skyward Situ saw it, he excitedly took it and said, "She’s carried this since childhood. I wonder how it ended up in your hands, young brother!"

Evan Yang felt there was no need to hide anything from Lana Situ’s own father, so he told Skyward Situ everything that happened in the independent space. When Skyward Situ heard that a Northsource Region powerhouse had taken Lana Situ in, he was first shocked, then overjoyed. "Lana Situ finally has hope!"

"Clan Head, you—" Seeing the other so emotional, Evan Yang couldn’t help but be curious.

"You see, I got so excited I even forgot to thank you. Thank you for taking care of Lana Situ, young brother." Skyward Situ said gratefully.

"Clan Head Situ, don’t worry. Lana Situ and I are friends, so of course I’d help her. I’ll return the pendant to you on her behalf." Evan Yang felt it was safer to hand the pendant back to her father.

"No need. Since Lana Situ gave it to you, it means she trusts you. So I’ll let you keep it." Skyward Situ was incredibly moved, feeling that years of waiting had finally been released. Especially after hearing Evan Yang say that the Northsource Region powerhouse could cure Lana Situ, tears glimmered in his eyes. Evan noticed, but didn’t mention it, deeply understanding a father’s helplessness over his daughter for so many years.

Taking the pendant, Evan Yang happily put it away and joked, "Good thing Clan Head Situ didn’t believe the rumors—otherwise, I’d have been chased by the Situ Clan long before I got here!"

"Sigh, it’s all my fault. I still haven’t found out who spread those rumors." After calming down, Skyward Situ became angry again.

Evan Yang couldn’t understand how the head of a clan could not know who was spreading information within his own clan. Skyward Situ, seeing Evan’s expression, smiled and said, "Sigh, there are parts of the clan that aren’t under my control anymore. That’s why I brought you here: first, so others wouldn’t overhear, and second, to check the pendant Lan gave you."

Evan Yang wanted to ask something, but felt it wasn’t the right time. After all, this was a family matter, and he had no need to interfere.

Seeing Skyward Situ had a request, Evan Yang curiously asked, "I wonder what I can do to help, Skyward Situ?"

Seeing Skyward Situ had a request, Evan Yang curiously asked, "I wonder what I can do to help, Clan Head?"

"I’m sure you know about the tense relationship between the Eastern Continent and the Northsource Region. Especially in recent days, the senior who took Lana Situ killed quite a few Eastern Continent experts. So I must ask you to keep this secret—don’t mention it to anyone. Otherwise, not only will Lana Situ be in danger, but the entire Situ Clan could be implicated." As the clan head, Skyward Situ had to consider both his daughter’s safety and the clan’s situation.

Evan Yang wasn’t stupid—he understood right away. Eastern Continent experts had been searching for that Northsource Region powerhouse, and if word got out that the Situ Clan was connected to that old witch, the clan would be the first to be mercilessly wiped out.

So Evan Yang readily agreed and nodded.

Seeing Evan Yang agree, Skyward Situ smiled. "Lana Situ is lucky to have a friend like you."

"She once helped me, too. If it weren’t for Lana Situ, I might not be who I am today." Evan Yang recalled how Lana Situ saved him when he first entered the Rising Sun Sect.

Skyward Situ nodded, feeling his wish fulfilled—his daughter was saved. Just then, a sound came from outside.

"What’s that?" Evan Yang and Skyward Situ heard the commotion outside.

"Let’s go check it out." Skyward Situ walked in front, Evan Yang naturally followed, just in time to see Jace Situ locked in battle with one of the men.

In the Situ Clan, a man fighting the guard captain wasn’t a simple matter. Evan Yang immediately sensed something was off. Skyward Situ’s expression was extremely grim as he shouted, "Stop!"

When Jace Situ saw his father appear, he quickly retreated to Skyward Situ’s side and said, "Father, Second Madam wants to see this young brother."

"Her? Why?" Skyward Situ asked, displeased, turning to the man who had just fought with Evan Yang.

The man, seemingly unafraid of Skyward Situ, replied coldly, "He injured the young master."

Hit the son, and now the mother steps in? That was Evan Yang’s first thought. Skyward Situ, even more embarrassed, said, "Tell her that this young brother is my guest. I hope she’ll let this matter go for my sake."

Evan Yang knew Skyward Situ was protecting him, but he was curious—how could a clan head be so concerned about a second wife’s faction? And those mysterious men around Easton Situ, plus the man who fought Jace Situ, weren’t from the Situ Clan. So who were they, and why did they all obey Second Madam’s orders?

The man standing opposite saw Skyward Situ speak up. Though he didn’t want to leave, Skyward Situ’s power and prestige forced him to step back. "I’ll be sure to relay the clan head’s message," he said, then turned and left.

"Getting more and more outrageous." Jace Situ said, clearly annoyed. Ever since becoming the clan’s guard captain, people kept challenging his authority—especially those sent by Second Madam. All the mysterious outsiders were brought in by her.

Not just Jace Situ—even Skyward Situ was furious inside, though he masked it with an awkward smile to Evan Yang. "Sorry about this, sorry you had to see it."

"Clan Head, what are you saying? I’m the one causing you all this trouble." Evan Yang sighed helplessly.

"I’m really curious—why does my little brother keep chasing after you?" Jace Situ was puzzled. Normally Easton Situ just played around, but this time he’d even used those mysterious outsiders and brought in his mother.

Skyward Situ was curious too. Usually his second wife kept a low profile, so why was she making such a scene over a little beggar, sending people to fight right under his nose?

Seeing both of them look at him curiously, Evan Yang had no choice but to explain everything that happened before he entered the city.

After hearing this, both men were furious—especially Skyward Situ, who snorted coldly, "That brat! Acting like this—does he think the Situ Clan is his playground?"

"Father, what should we do now?" Jace Situ was naturally on his father’s side. Meanwhile, Evan Yang realized something was off—this Second Madam was clearly no ordinary woman, if even Skyward Situ was wary of her.

"You escort this young brother out. I’ll go steady your Second Madam." Skyward Situ instructed Jace Situ helplessly.

"Alright." Jace Situ nodded.

Skyward Situ apologized to Evan Yang. "Sorry, young brother—family matters, you know."

"Don’t say that, Skyward Situ. I’ve already delivered news of Lana Situ, so my job is done. If there’s a chance, I’ll visit again." With nothing left to do, Evan Yang naturally wasn’t going to stick around and wait for Second Madam to cause trouble.

Just as Jace Situ was about to lead Evan Yang out, they heard footsteps approaching. Their path was blocked—not by anyone else, but by the very Second Madam Jace Situ had just mentioned.
