Assessment That Incites Public Fury

2/14/2026

"What method?" Evan Yang was already impatient to know if there was a way to be protected by the Genius Pavilion, and even courted by the Three Palaces.

"Violet Seventh-Tier—the strongest genius in the Three Star Systems. Even if you killed an important figure from Ninefold Palace, you would escape execution. Not to mention, you only killed a fifth-class Star Lord." Reed Kong smiled.

"Violet Seventh-Tier?" Evan Yang said in surprise.

"Yes. As long as you earn that title, you become a top-tier genius—there are fewer than a hundred in all the Three Star Systems, and that's after years of accumulation." Reed Kong explained.

"Violet Seventh-Tier means fighting opponents two major realms above your own, and holding the advantage for a quarter of an hour," Evan Yang said. In fact, he knew that as an early Spirit-God Realm cultivator, he could easily handle two late Spirit-God opponents. The stronger he got, the scarier his explosive power became.

"As far as I know, you fought a late Spirit-God Realm expert in the Yellow Heaven Sect branch, and defeated him in just a moment. Is that true?" As a Genius Pavilion examiner, Reed Kong naturally had access to all sorts of news from the Three Star Systems.

So Reed Kong knew all about Evan Yang's trip to the Yellow Heaven Sect branch.

"You know even that?" Evan Yang said, surprised.

"Otherwise, how would we know where to dig for geniuses?" Reed Kong laughed, looking at Evan Yang with a wide grin.

"Even so, that's only Blue Sixth-Tier." Evan Yang replied.

"Don't forget what I said just now—just a moment. That means you can absolutely handle two opponents, and I've heard your speed is so fast that even that late Spirit-God Realm expert couldn't match you." Reed Kong smiled, staring at Evan Yang like a hawk.

"Looks like nothing escapes you. You even know that," Evan Yang sighed.

"Yeah, that's why I've always wanted to confirm it with you, but I worried about your situation, so I never reached out. Today you came to me, so I was happy to show up. Besides telling you the method to resolve the Tyrant Seal Art's side effects, my main goal is to help you get the Violet Seventh-Tier title. Once you have it, no one will dare to make a move against you in public." Reed Kong laughed.

Reed Kong's plan was certainly tempting. If Evan weren't in a hurry to save Elena Yale, he would have refused right away. Earning the title meant announcing to everyone that he could challenge opponents two realms above, making others wary.

"Think it over. I'm just making the suggestion," Reed Kong said, seeing Evan Yang deep in thought.

Evan Yang looked at Reed Kong and said, "Alright, I accept."

"Good, come on, let's go to Genius Star. Elder Mu is also looking forward to your debut." Reed Kong laughed.

"He knows too?" Evan Yang asked, surprised.

"The life-extending pill formula was given to me by him, so don't blame me for not telling you earlier," Reed Kong said with a smile.

"Forget it, you were all just looking out for me. Since things are like this, I won't hide anymore—I'll stand before everyone." Evan Yang smiled.

At this moment, Evan Yang felt his whole body surge with energy, no longer drained and distracted by worries about Elena Yale.

"Good." Seeing Evan regain his confidence, Reed Kong was overjoyed.

Very soon, Reed Kong brought Evan back to Genius Star to meet Elder Mu, but the news quickly spread throughout the Genius Pavilion.

"What, he's applying for Violet Seventh-Tier?" Gavin Qiao exclaimed in shock when he heard the news.

Beside Gavin Qiao was Gavin Tian, who had once been gravely injured by Evan, and whose real identity was a member of the powerful Guo clan from Tianxuan Palace Star.

Upon hearing the news, Gavin Tian was furious. "Damn it, he's already in Divine Spirit Realm!"

"This is way too bizarre. How many years has it been? His strength skyrocketed so fast, and now he's challenging for Violet Seventh-Tier." Gavin Qiao's resentment toward Evan hadn't lessened—in fact, it kept growing.

"No way. We can't let him succeed!" Gavin Tian felt the news was terrifying. If Evan succeeded, it meant he'd get the Violet Seventh-Tier title, and both the Three Palaces and Genius Pavilion would protect him. Even as a Guo clan member, getting revenge would be impossible in the open.

Gavin Qiao agreed. The two immediately fell silent and began discussing their plans.

"We need more than just ourselves to stop him—we should get others involved too." Gavin Qiao's eyes lit up.

"What do you have in mind?" Gavin Tian asked curiously.

"The Fenn Family. Haven't they been furious with him lately? He never applied for Violet Seventh-Tier before, but now he does—anyone can see he wants the Three Palaces and Genius Pavilion's protection so the Fenns can't touch him." Gavin Qiao sneered.

"The Fenns, as Ninefold Palace's top clan, definitely have the status to intervene. But what if the Genius Pavilion steps in to stop them?" Gavin Tian still had concerns.

"That's a real issue, but it's better than nothing. If Evan fails the assessment, the Fenns could take him away on the spot. Wouldn't he be doomed?" Gavin Qiao smirked.

"Right, let's do it." Gavin Tian replied.

The two quickly made their plans, and the news soon spread from Genius Star.

This Violet Seventh-Tier challenge was originally something the Three Palaces would pay attention to, but this time it drew even more interest. Not only the Three Palaces, the Fenn Family, and sects like Yellow Heaven Sect who had grudges with Evan, but also alchemy world factions—all converged on Genius Star.

In less than a day, Genius Star was more crowded than ever before.

"This kid has offended so many people." Elder Mu sighed to Reed Kong as he watched the intimidating arrivals.

"That's why he has to succeed—failure isn't an option. Otherwise, no one will be able to protect him today." Reed Kong said.

"Yes, today we must make sure he succeeds. Good seedlings are rare—we can't let him be destroyed like this." Elder Mu said.

Reed Kong nodded and then left to make arrangements.

Gavin Qiao and Gavin Tian hadn't expected Evan to draw such a crowd—this Violet Seventh-Tier challenge was far grander than any before.

"Damn it, why did he have to challenge Violet Seventh-Tier?" Third Young Master Fenn from the Fenn Family complained.

At that moment, the Fenn Family had First Young Master, Second Young Master, Third Young Master, Fenn Yue Song, and their steward present.

Aside from them, fiendish world representatives were also drawn by Evan's presence.

As for the alchemy world, those people scattered into groups, their allegiances unclear.

Hidden among the crowd, the Old Beggar cursed inwardly, "That kid thinks Violet Seventh-Tier is so easy!"

The Old Beggar, not knowing all of Evan's feats, was deeply worried about him—whether it was the Fenn Family or alchemy factions, he was ready. If Evan failed, he'd appear before everyone and take Evan away.

Even if it meant breaking the rules, he wouldn't hesitate.

Evan had no idea he'd drawn such a crowd. When he was told about the situation outside, he was shocked. "They really came?"

"Yeah, they're already seated in the Duel Arena, just waiting for the match to start." Reed Kong replied.

"I didn't expect the news to spread so fast." Evan laughed.

"I thought you'd only offended a couple of clans, but it turns out you've crossed so many people." Reed Kong laughed awkwardly.

"Just the Fenn Family, Yellow Heaven Sect, and Ninefold Palace. I don't think I've offended anyone else." Evan said suspiciously.

"That's odd—why does it feel like everyone in the arena is here for you?" Reed Kong wondered aloud.

"Really? I have no idea. Guess I'll find out soon enough." Evan replied.

"Listen, you have to be careful. Both your opponents for this assessment are late Divine Spirit Realm cultivators—one specializes in speed, the other in attack. You'll need to handle them carefully." Reed Kong instructed Evan.

"Speed? Attack?" Evan chuckled to himself. Unless they used Immortal artifacts, they wouldn't be a match for him.

Thinking of artifacts, Evan asked, "What kind of treasures do they usually use?"

"To keep the assessment fair, they're not allowed to bring any Immortal-grade artifacts—only items below that level." Reed Kong answered.

Evan grinned. "Then there's no problem." His own body was covered in Immortal-grade artifacts. If he couldn't defeat them, it would be strange.

Reed Kong had no idea what Evan was thinking. Once Evan was ready, Reed led him to the Duel Arena.

When Evan saw the scene in the arena, he was amazed. Back when he took the Green Fourth-Tier test, there were only a handful of people. Now the arena was packed, with even more standing around.

All eyes were focused on Evan.

"That's him." Third Young Master Fenn pointed Evan out to the steward and others.

The others naturally recognized him, but it was the steward's first time seeing Evan. After sizing Evan up, he said, "So many people, yet he stays so calm. He must be very confident."

"Damn it, we can't let him succeed." Third Young Master Fenn said resentfully.

"Violet Seventh-Tier isn't something just anyone can pass," the steward doubted Evan's ability.

Many in the arena shared the steward's opinion—they didn't believe Evan could succeed.

Two people from Yellow Heaven Sect were also sizing Evan up.

One was Don Bin, the other was Tyler Guan. They had received the news and come to watch, but neither believed in Evan's chances.

Still, they felt uneasy enough to come in person.

"So this is the kid?" Tyler Guan asked, curious.

"Yeah, that's him. I chased him for a while back then, but he escaped using a formation." Don Bin replied.

"If this weren't the Genius Pavilion, I'd really want to spar with him." Tyler Guan joked.

Besides the Fenn Family and Yellow Heaven Sect, there were also faces Evan didn't recognize—but one figure moved him deeply.

It was the Old Beggar. Just as Evan was about to send him a message, the Old Beggar transmitted first: "There are too many eyes here. Be careful. I'll contact you after."

Evan understood the Old Beggar's warning and quickly looked away. He then noticed several tables in the arena, with elders seated at each—Elder Mu among them.

"These are all Genius Pavilion elders—five in total. Elder Mu is one of them," Reed Kong explained.

Evan nodded. At least someone would speak up for him. He walked in with Reed Kong, and as he entered, he could hear the angry and mocking voices from the crowd.
