Lift Your Head

"Louis Lin!" Evan Xiao shouted toward the outside.

"Yes, sir!" Louis Lin came in from outside. "What are your orders, General?"

Go tell Steward Qin that from today on, any maid or guard caught having a secret affair will both be kicked out of the manor!

"Huh?" Louis Lin had been saying this word a lot lately.

Grace pinched her thigh in distress, finally coming up with a reason to look at him. She said, "General, you need your medicine changed!"

"You don't understand?"

"I understand!" Louis Lin replied immediately. "This servant will go right now!"

Once he was done undressing, Grace calmly walked over, eyes straight ahead, to change his medicine.

Grace couldn't help but sneak a glance at Evan Xiao.

She felt like he was doing this on purpose—just to mess with her.

But maybe she was just overthinking it.

To him, a maid was just a moving piece of furniture. Who would bother targeting a piece of furniture?

"Why are you looking at me?" Evan Xiao's tone was unfriendly.

It was just a glance—was he really making such a fuss?

Grace pinched her thigh in distress, finally coming up with a reason to look at him. She said, "General, you need your medicine changed!"

He really did need his medicine changed.

Evan Xiao didn't object and got up to undress.

Grace kept her head down, not daring to look at him too much, for fear the sight of his good looks would make her nose bleed again.

Once he was done undressing, Grace calmly walked over, eyes straight ahead, to change his medicine.

His wound was healing incredibly fast—it had already scabbed over.

Standing behind him, Grace sprinkled some medicinal powder on his back and said, "General, your wound is healing so fast, you don't need bandages anymore. This maid will just apply some medicine and cover it with a bit of gauze."

Evan Xiao was always aloof and didn't respond.

Grace was used to it. She simply applied some wound ointment, cut a small piece of gauze, and stuck it on with adhesive.

During the process, her hands inevitably brushed against Evan Xiao's skin.

Her soft, slender, warm fingers touched his flesh, and Evan Xiao felt that strange sensation again.

From where she touched him all the way to his heart, it was tingly and numb, and the itch was driving him crazy.

What was going on with him?

He'd never felt this way before!

Could it be that Grace had drugged him again?

Grace was just sticking on the adhesive when Evan Xiao suddenly turned around and grabbed her hand.

Grace stared at him in shock. "G-General, what's wrong?"

"What medicine did you use on me?"

"Wound ointment?" Grace replied, puzzled.

"I mean, have you ever drugged me with anything else?"

Grace's heart skipped a beat.

No way—did he know about the time she used the Love Elixir?

"Speak!" He yanked her closer until she was right in front of him.

Qingluan suddenly felt his masculine presence enveloping her—and he was shirtless, too! Her face flushed uncontrollably, and she blurted out, "It was just that one time, with a little knockout powder. Didn't you say you wouldn't pursue it anymore?"

"Really, just that one time?"

"Really!" They say the eyes are the windows to the soul, so she kept her head down, afraid he'd see through her.

"Lift your head!" Evan Xiao ordered.

"C-could you let go first—"

"Lift your head!" Evan Xiao commanded again, lowering his voice.

Grace was afraid of him and quickly raised her head.

As soon as she did, both of them froze for a moment.

They were already standing close. Evan Xiao had his head lowered, and when Grace looked up, their lips ended up just a couple of inches apart.

A wave of intense, electric tingling shot through Evan Xiao. He moved his lips, wanting to say something, but in the end, he just shoved her away.

He was a Spirit Master, Eighth Rank, while Grace was just an ordinary person—how could she withstand his push?

She instantly lost her balance and fell to the ground with a thud, smacking her head on the edge of the table behind her. The pain was excruciating...
