My Legs Are Shaking a Little

"Hey there, big bro! I’m with the Fourth Prince. Mind passing a message for me? Just say Chloe Zhu’s here and ask him to come over."

When the guard saw the token, his lecherous gaze vanished instantly. He nodded and went in to announce her arrival, all meek and proper.

It wasn’t long before Byron White came out.

"Chloe? What are you doing here?" Byron asked, clearly surprised.

Chloe said, "President, I can break this array!"

"You?" Byron frowned. "A whole team of Rune Masters couldn’t break it—how could you possibly do it?"

Chloe had to improvise, bluffing, "It’s complicated to explain right now. But if we don’t break the array within half an hour, the little prince is doomed! Hurry! Take me there!"

"Where to?"

"To the Spirit Tree."

"Spirit Tree?" Byron’s eyes flickered with interest.

Just now, a high-level Rune Master said this weird array seems to be powered by the Spirit Tree’s divine energy.

Maybe Chloe Zhu really does have some skills?

"Oh come on!" Chloe suddenly shouted. "President, I really can break the array! Hurry and take me to the Spirit Tree! If we keep wasting time, Goldie is toast!"

"Why are you yelling?" Byron snapped.

"Oh, sorry! I just got a little anxious! Please forgive me, President!" Chloe said, covering her mouth.

She wasn’t just anxious—she’d spotted a man in a dragon-embroidered imperial robe walking over.

Every royal family has their own dress code.

But anyone bold enough to wear a dragon-embroidered robe is definitely royalty.

The look he gave Byron was anything but friendly—clearly, there was bad blood between them!

So Chloe made a scene on purpose, forcing Byron to take her along.

Sure enough, the man came over and called out, "Fourth Brother, this girl says she can break the array—why haven’t you taken her yet? You’re not stalling on purpose, are you?"

Byron’s face changed. "Second Brother, what’s that supposed to mean?"

The newcomer was none other than the Second Prince of the Eastern Luo Empire: Prince Xavier.

"What do I mean? I mean the truth!" Prince Xavier raised his brows and flashed Chloe a friendly smile. "Miss, can you really break the array?"

"Absolutely!" Chloe said. "We have to break it within half an hour, or Goldie’s done for!"

"The Rune Masters said the array is full of fierce energy and keeps shrinking," Xavier said. "I believe you—shall I take you there?"

Chloe shook her head and looked at Byron. "President?"

Byron frowned—Prince Xavier had overheard Chloe’s claim.

Whether she could break the array or not, he had to take her now.

If anything happened to Goldie, Xavier would definitely report him!

If that happened… and the Emperor and Empress blamed him, Byron would be in deep trouble!

Thinking of this, Byron nodded and said to Chloe, "I’ll take you to the palace! Let’s go!"

Chloe followed him.

The two of them raced back to the palace on horseback. Byron took her straight to the main hall, where the Emperor and Empress were anxiously waiting for news.

While Byron went in to report, Chloe waited outside—and her knees were shaking a little.

Hopefully the Emperor and Empress aren’t experts in arrays…

Otherwise, if they start asking tough questions, what’ll she do?

She couldn’t reach Shannon either—no idea what was up with her…

Soon, a palace eunuch came out to summon her in.

Chloe took a deep breath and walked inside.

"Your humble servant greets Your Majesty and Her Majesty!"

"Who are you?" came a commanding female voice.

It had to be Empress Wendy.
