Wedding Day

2/27/2026

"Dad, in a few days, we're getting married..." Gavin said worriedly. Brandon replied, "Don't worry. I'll talk to Tony Tong and the others—they'll help us."

Brandon quickly sent word to Tony Tong. When Tony received the news, he was furious and immediately dispatched elite guards along with Calvin Cao to come over.

Seeing Evan and Gavin's injuries, Tony Tong snorted, "Hell Palace really is ruthless. They already want you dead this quickly."

"Tony, sorry to trouble you this time. Once the wedding is over, we'll withdraw," Brandon said.

Tony Tong replied, "It's fine. Both of them are Academy people now. Hell Palace targeting them is picking a fight with us. We'll make sure they pay for this."

Brandon felt much more at ease seeing so many people arrive. He arranged rooms for Tony Tong and his companions, and had the others guard every corner of the White family estate. With this setup, even if Hell Palace tried anything again, it would be much harder.

Yue Gui, after suffering heavy losses, was furious but still had to report the situation. He hurried to Hell Palace to explain everything to the Hell Palace Lord and Vice Lord.

"Just one Immortal Sovereign and one Heavenly Dao expert wiped out your Night Squad—over thirty Heavenly Dao assassins? Elder Yue, when did the Night Squad get so weak?" The Hell Palace Lord was clearly angry.

Yue Gui replied, "It's not that we're weak—it's that they're too strong. That Immortal Sovereign, I've said before, is terrifyingly talented. Even Heavenly Dao experts would have trouble dealing with him now."

"Someone like that must be dealt with as soon as possible. I'll give you one month. If you succeed, you'll get a Vice Palace Lord position next time." The Hell Palace Lord said. Yue Gui was overjoyed, "No problem!"

After Yue Gui left, the Hell Palace Lord frowned. "Do you think you can really wipe him out?"

"It's difficult. Now that the Night Squad is exposed, Heavenly Dao Academy will definitely intervene, maybe even send people to protect them. Hell Palace won't be able to kill them so easily," the Vice Hell Palace Lord said.

"If it really doesn't work, even if we expose our strength to the Academy, I'll use our hidden forces to destroy him," the Hell Palace Lord said.

The Vice Hell Palace Lord nodded, "Mm."

With the Academy people's protection, Evan and his companions spent the next few days peacefully, finally reaching their wedding day. Evan and Gavin both wore bright red wedding robes.

In front of the dressing mirror, Evan smiled, "You look pretty cool in red."

"You're the cool one. By the way, let everyone out of your treasure. It's our wedding day—they all want to see it," Gavin said.

Evan smiled, "I let them out early this morning. Even Winter and the others are here."

"That's great," Gavin smiled.

"Get ready. I'll go out and greet the guests," Evan said.

Even though Evan wasn't very familiar with everyone here, today was his wedding day, so he couldn't drag things out. Wearing his wedding robes, he walked out. Passing through the main hall, Brandon and the others smiled at him, and Evan's mother excitedly walked up, "Look at you, coming out so quickly!"

"Mom, if I didn't come out, would I just sit in the room and lay eggs?" Evan joked.

Everyone around burst out laughing. Evan's mother smiled, "You're something else."

Seeing Evan's mother's excitement, as if she'd experienced some great joy, Patriarch Yang and Liam Yang felt the same. Winter and the other women were already grinning widely.

On the side, Tony Tong joked with Brandon, "Hey, your son-in-law isn't lacking in romantic luck—he's surrounded by seven or eight women."

"That just proves he's excellent," Brandon laughed.

"Looks like you're pretty open-minded," Tony laughed.

"As cultivators, having several women is normal. Tony, are you jealous? Go find some yourself," Brandon laughed.

"I don't have your son-in-law's charm. Look, they're all top beauties—even the least attractive ones make the guests stare," Tony laughed.

Indeed, besides celebrating the White family's big day, the guests were also drawn by the many beautiful women. If they weren't protected by Academy experts, many would have tried to flirt.

After Evan let Winter and the others out, he told Brandon and the others to protect them. So Tony Tong assigned many guards to ensure their safety.

As the countdown approached, the White family welcomed many guests—so many that Brandon couldn't check them all. Some uninvited ones slipped in, staring at Evan. One whispered, "See the groom? He has the Five God Spear. Boss said whoever catches him gets a big reward."

The speaker was Joey Zhou, the bandit leader recruited by Stoneback. After searching from their mountain stronghold, they finally found traces of Evan nearby.

Joey Zhou brought a group of tough bandits. Their goal: create chaos at the wedding, then target Evan and steal the Five God Spear.

Besides these, many followers and guards brought by guests had actually been replaced. These were Hell Palace's Night Squad, acting without masks.

The White family couldn't check every follower or guard, especially on such a festive day, so they let them all in.

As a result, the entire wedding banquet was charged with tension. Brandon and Tony Tong had already agreed: if anything happened, Academy experts would protect Evan, Gavin, and their companions, keeping enemies away.

For now, everything seemed calm. Brandon smiled, "It's about time. Let's begin."

The festivities started. Brandon asked Evan to bring out Gavin. Evan entered the bridal room, took Gavin—her face veiled in red silk—by the hand, and led her out, flanked by Academy experts.

Gavin walked out step by step with Evan, soon arriving at the main hall. Just as Brandon was about to announce the start of the wedding banquet, thick black smoke erupted throughout the hall, obscuring everyone's vision. Brandon was startled; Tony Tong shouted, "Protect the designated targets!"

The Academy experts, trained and disciplined, instantly fell into formation to protect the key people.

Brandon shouted upward, "Hell Palace, you really have guts, even daring to disrupt my daughter's wedding! From today on, I'll fight you to the end."

The Night Squad, who hadn't acted yet, were baffled—they hadn't started their operation, but were already being blamed. Chaos broke out; screams rang across the grounds. Evan ordered everyone to retreat into the main hall, cleared the smoke, and commanded that each person be examined individually.

Everyone nodded. As each person approached, they were scanned and only allowed in if nothing was wrong.

Time passed, and the smoke outside gradually dissipated.

Many guests had already fled, some just hearing 'Hell Palace' and realizing trouble. Outdoor banquet tables were overturned, chaotic, with corpses strewn across them.

They found two distinct groups of dead and wounded: one dressed as assorted followers and guards; the other, a more uniform group. Most were dead or gravely injured.

Evan pulled out the survivors from among the wounded.

Tony Tong stepped forward and demanded, "Who are you?"

The Night Squad didn't answer; their bodies self-destructed, while the others stared in terror.

Tony Tong, familiar with Hell Palace's methods, noted that the self-destructing ones must have been Night Squad members; the others are unknown.

Evan asked, "Who are you?"

The survivors remained silent. Evan smiled, "It's fine. You'll talk soon enough." He plunged them into an inner illusory world.

When the illusion lifted, Evan announced, "I know now—these people are here for a treasure on me."

"Who are they?" Tony Tong asked curiously.

"They're from a bandit stronghold," Evan said, having searched their memories.

Tony Tong snorted, "So it's those sneaky guys."

"They were unlucky this time—two groups thought the other was ours and fought each other. We didn't suffer, but they lost heavily," Brandon snorted.

Tony Tong and the others nodded. Gavin, annoyed, asked, "How can the wedding continue now?"

"It's fine. At least everyone knows. We'll keep it simple, just us," Brandon said after thinking for a moment.

Everyone nodded in agreement. Gavin looked at the friends and family and nodded too. With their blessings, Evan and Gavin were married.

That night, Evan and Gavin were alone together in their room, both dressed brightly, feeling a rush of emotion.

Sitting on the bed, Gavin asked, "You drank a lot today—from noon until now?"

"Yeah, but it's all out of my system now. No problem," Evan smiled, approaching Gavin. Seeing Evan come closer, Gavin's heart raced—it was their wedding night. Even though they'd been intimate before, this time was different, and she felt nervous.

Evan felt the same; his blood was already boiling, his body glowing green. Gavin knew it was because of Evan's unique cultivation.
