How Could We Be Distant When We Already Have a Son

Evan Xiao replied coolly, "You may rise."

Henry Tuoba stood up and asked, "I heard from Grace that the Crown Prince was poisoned by a Gu worm. Are you alright now?"

Evan Xiao gave him a slight smile. "Such a trivial Gu worm could never harm me."

"That's a relief!" Henry Tuoba said. "I was worried about Grace, but now that I see the Crown Prince and Grace haven't grown distant, I can finally relax."

"We already have a son, how could we ever grow distant?" Evan Xiao reached out to stroke Ray, almost as if showing off.

The atmosphere became a little awkward for a moment.

Fortunately, just then, the outside suddenly lit up.

A firework blossomed outside the window, dazzling and beautiful.

"Fireworks!" Grace's eyes sparkled. "I've heard that every year on New Year's night, Sigil City sets off fireworks. They're spectacular and gorgeous, and many people even write poems about them!"

She never had the chance to see them in her previous life, but now she finally did!

"Didn't you ask me to watch the fireworks with you?" Evan Xiao said. "Let's go!"

"Huh?" Grace glanced at Henry Tuoba, feeling even more awkward. "We can just watch them here..."

Henry Tuoba smiled. "Since the Crown Prince wants to watch the fireworks with Grace and the little prince, I'll take my leave!"

Evan Xiao nodded slightly.

Smart move.

Grace looked at the untouched food and felt genuinely disappointed.

This guy barged in and chased away her guest—what was that about?

Grace felt sorry for Henry Tuoba and asked, "Emperor Henry, when will you be leaving?"

"Probably the day after tomorrow."

"I'll treat you to a proper meal next time!"

Henry Tuoba smiled. "Alright, enjoy the fireworks. I'll take my leave."

After he left, Grace gazed wistfully at the fireworks rising outside.

"What? Did I ruin your mood?" Evan Xiao's cold voice sounded beside her.

Grace turned to look at him and saw a stormy expression on his face.

Even the moon outside was covered by dark clouds.

She suddenly realized... was he jealous?

So she tried to explain: "I haven't seen him in ages. We planned to catch up tonight, but before we even started eating, he left. I just feel kind of bad."

"Looks like I came at the wrong time," Evan Xiao said. "I'll leave, you can go after him."

With that, he turned to go, a chill in the air around him.

But Grace grabbed his arm.

He turned to look at her.

"I was just being polite—socially, it really wasn't ideal," Grace said. "But honestly, I'm glad you came."

His expression finally softened.

"Let's go outside and find a higher spot to watch the fireworks!" Grace said. "The view here isn't great!"

"Yay! Father, take us to the sky!" Ray exclaimed.

Evan Xiao grabbed Ray with one hand and Grace with the other, and they vanished from the room.

They reappeared on the rooftop of the tallest building in Sigil City.

The view here was much better than before, and everything was crystal clear.

Grace and Ray were both delighted.

Evan Xiao didn't say a word the whole time.

But the moon, which had been hidden by clouds, gradually emerged.

Grace saw the moon, then turned to glance at Evan Xiao.

Her eyes sparkled, full of charm.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Evan Xiao asked.

"Thank you for coming to watch the fireworks with me."

"What's so great about them?"

"Don't you think they're beautiful?"

"No."

"Come on, they're gorgeous!"

"They disappear in a flash."

"I get it... Your Highness likes things that last forever."
