Face the Consequences

Arthur Evans had long disliked Helen Parker. This kick was no gentle one—Helen was sent flying.

Belle dashed off with Margaret Evans on her back, while Lily Evans, Mrs. Charlotte Evans, and April hurried after them, rushing to Wu Family House.

Helen Parker sat on the ground, wailing at the top of her lungs: "Oh no, murder! Arthur Evans, you damned dog, siding with Lily Evans to bully my daughter May!"

In the past, Arthur Evans was always amiable when he lived with the Evans family. As a businessman, he was used to dealing with people pleasantly, and he treated the Evanses like his own. That’s why he tolerated Helen Parker’s shrewish behavior for so long.

But things are different now. Arthur Evans no longer acknowledges the Evanses as relatives. In the eyes of a wealthy boss like him, Helen Parker is nothing!

"Throw these two out!" Arthur Evans ordered coldly, calling for the four maids—Gold, Silver, Copper, and Iron—who were still stunned by the scene.

The four maids finally snapped out of it. Two to a person, they dragged Helen Parker and May Parker out of the house.

Helen Parker shrieked, "Village Chief, aren’t you going to step in? Look at how they’re trying to kill us! Why aren’t you saying anything?"

The Village Chief frowned as he glanced at Helen Parker and her daughter being thrown out. He greeted Arthur Evans with utmost respect, bowing slightly, "Master Evans, how do you wish to handle this..."

Arthur Evans replied, "Lucky is a good kid. I don’t believe he’d do something so shameful. Let’s wait until my second sister-in-law wakes up and Lucky returns before we talk."

The village chief, knowing Arthur Evans's true identity, treated him with great respect and agreed at once. He left Lily Evans's house and told Helen Parker and her daughters to wait for news at home.

At the Wu Family House.

Belle hurriedly laid Mrs. Wang on Cynthia Wu's bed, tears streaming down her face. "Dr. Wu, please, you have to check on our old madam! What's wrong with her?!"

On the bed, Mrs. Wang, who had been 'unconscious' all this time, suddenly opened her eyes and said, "Silly child, I'm perfectly fine. I was just pretending to faint to fool Helen Parker and her daughters."

Belle froze for a moment, her tears still wet on her cheeks. Suddenly, she realized what was happening and burst into tears and laughter. "You scared me so much! I thought something really happened to you! Thank goodness you're okay, thank goodness!"

Cynthia Wu was woken by all the commotion, yawning widely. "Lily, what's going on? Why all this fuss in the middle of the night?"

Lily Evans sighed and told Cynthia Wu about what happened with May Parker.

Cynthia Wu's eyebrows shot up. "What? May Parker is so shameless! Lily, she's definitely slandering Lucky. Lucky only has eyes for you; he'd never do something like that!"

"Of course I trust my husband." Lily Evans flicked her hair and said, "Cynthia, do you remember how Arthur Evans and his sister tried to set you up?"

Cynthia Wu paused, then recalled, "I remember. Back then, those siblings tricked me into going on a spring outing, and Benjamin Zhang was waiting in the room... Luckily, I ran fast, but at that time, May Parker..."

Cynthia Wu stopped abruptly, then burst out laughing. "Oh Lily, May Parker was already with Benjamin Zhang back then—she's no longer innocent! That bloody handkerchief of hers is a total scam, just trying to frame Lucky!"

"Exactly." Lily Evans nodded. "I was so angry at the time, but when I saw that handkerchief, I finally came to my senses. May Parker hasn't been a maiden for ages—she's just using that bloody cloth to trick the village chief and set up Lucky."

"So Lily, what are you going to do about this?" Cynthia Wu asked.

Lily Evans's eyes flashed coldly. "If May Parker dares to scheme against my husband, I'll make sure she pays dearly... Cynthia, here's what we'll do..."

Lily Evans whispered her plan into Cynthia Wu's ear. Cynthia clapped her hands three times, exclaiming, "Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant!"
