Drawn Into the Glasswind

Three Heavenwinds—those things are seriously terrifying. Evan Chu and the Savage Earth Dragon hurriedly dropped to the ground and burrowed into the yellow sand. "Lord Golden Dragon, even down here in the sand, it's not really safe. Heavenwind can easily sweep away all this sand on the surface. We have to go as deep as possible beneath it. Don't underestimate Heavenwind—it’s way more dangerous than you think," the Savage Earth Dragon warned.

Evan Chu glanced at the sand around them and asked, "Didn’t you summon Heavenwind yourself just now? What, are you actually afraid of it too?"

"What I summoned is basically the weakest kind of Heavenwind, and it doesn’t last long. The natural Heavenwind out here is several times stronger than mine—it’s not even close," said the Savage Earth Dragon.

Evan Chu didn’t say anything more. If the Savage Earth Dragon was this serious, it had to be true. He quietly began burrowing deeper into the sand.

After a while, Evan Chu asked, "The Heavenwind should be past by now, right? I could feel a ton of sand getting swept away overhead. Should we go up and take a look?"

"The Heavenwind’s gone, but the closer we get to the Glasswind Region, the more often Heavenwind shows up. We’d better stick with Earthshift," said the Savage Earth Dragon.

At this point, they were still about a thousand li from the Glasswind Region. Evan Chu tried moving quickly through the sand and realized he was actually pretty slow—at best, about as fast as running on the surface, but nowhere near the Savage Earth Dragon’s speed.

Covering a thousand li would take at least two days. Evan Chu had no interest in crawling through endless darkness for that long, so he called out to the Savage Earth Dragon ahead, "You go on ahead and wait for me at the center of the Glasswind Region. I need to replenish my Stellar Power—moving through this sand burns it up super fast. Don’t worry, I’ll catch up to you soon."

The Savage Earth Dragon was half-skeptical. In its experience, using Earthshift in the sand didn’t burn much Stellar Power, so why did Lord Golden Dragon seem so wiped out? Maybe it was just because he wasn’t used to earth-burrowing yet.

The Savage Earth Dragon instantly dove underground with Earthshift and vanished. Evan Chu emerged from the sand, shot into the air, and started teleporting at top speed.

Along the way, Evan Chu encountered Heavenwind several more times, but managed to dodge each one with clever timing. His teleportation was lightning-fast, so by the time the Savage Earth Dragon reached the Glasswind Region’s center, Evan had already arrived too.

From a distance, Evan could see a massive black tornado at least tens of meters tall raging at the center—yet strangely, it seemed rooted in place, not moving around at all. That struck him as odd.

Still, Evan dove back into the yellow sand and slowly tunneled toward the Glasswind Center. Soon he spotted the Savage Earth Dragon.

"That right there is the Glasswind Center. I can’t go any farther—Lord Golden Dragon, you need to be careful. This Glasswind isn’t something you can mess with," the Savage Earth Dragon warned.

"Is there something under the Glasswind Center? Why doesn’t the Glasswind move?" Evan Chu asked.

The Savage Earth Dragon gave Evan a puzzled look. How did he know the Glasswind didn’t move? Had he seen it for himself? But you couldn’t see anything from underground with Earthshift—how strange.

Evan Chu had no idea what the Savage Earth Dragon was thinking. If he’d known, he’d probably be embarrassed for letting slip that he’d seen the tornado from above.

"I honestly don’t know what’s down there. I’ve never gotten close before—this is actually my first time here. Usually I’d stop hundreds of meters away, but this time I risked everything to make it this far," the Savage Earth Dragon admitted.

Evan Chu nodded and didn’t say anything else. Instead, he slowly spread out his spiritual sense to probe the underground area. But almost immediately, he felt his divine sense hit some kind of barrier—he couldn’t extend it any farther.

"Luna, can you check if there’s a barrier here? My divine sense can’t get through—it feels weird," Evan Chu called out to the sword spirit, knowing Luna’s spiritual sense should be much stronger than his.

After a moment, Luna replied, "There’s no formation barrier here—it’s just that the Glasswind is so powerful, it creates a natural spiritual screen. And the fact that Glasswind is stuck in one place probably means there’s some kind of innate spirit treasure here. If you can get it, it’ll be a huge boost for your future."

"An innate spirit treasure? Isn’t it just the Wind Spirit Pearl? Looks like getting it won’t be easy," Evan Chu said.

"There might actually be a Wind-Binding Pearl here. Even my spiritual sense can’t get close—this Glasswind is no joke and can seriously damage your soul. If you go in, you need to keep your mind focused and unified, or you’ll suffer heavy soul injuries. You know firsthand how bad that can get," Luna warned.

Evan Chu glanced at the Savage Earth Dragon and said, "I’m heading into the Glasswind to look for the Wind Spirit Pearl. Remember what I said—no matter what happens, don’t interfere. Just wait for me right here."

"Don’t worry, Lord Golden Dragon. I’ll wait here for your return," the Savage Earth Dragon replied.

Evan Chu surfaced onto the sand and eyed the nearby black Glasswind vortex, feeling a twinge of fear. Around its edges, there were bands of red Heavenwind—if he wanted to get inside, he’d have to pass through those. The strangest thing was, even the Heavenwind tornadoes here didn’t move. It was almost unbelievable.

Evan Chu armored himself with layers of earth and stone, then slowly approached the Glasswind. The Heavenwind bands were spaced apart—so long as he didn’t get swept into one, he should be able to make it through.

He moved slowly, and after a while reached the edge of the Heavenwind. The immense pull nearly knocked him off balance—he could be sucked in at any moment.

"Lin Feng, use Earthshift to draw all the yellow sand onto your body and increase your weight. Once you’re heavy enough, the Heavenwind won’t be able to do anything to you," Luna advised.

It was the first time Evan Chu had tried Luna’s trick, and making all that fine sand stick to his body was harder than he expected. Without something to bind it, the sand just wouldn’t stay. Evan couldn’t figure out why Luna would suggest such a method.

Still, he gave it a try. Instantly, countless grains of yellow sand clung to him, turning Evan into a sandman. The sand didn’t fall off like he’d expected—it was as if it’d become part of him.

Evan soon felt a tremendous pressure pressing down on him—the weight of all that sand. The Heavenwind’s pull weakened noticeably, and Evan’s body had grown several times larger, just enough to squeeze through the gap between the Heavenwind bands.

After a tough struggle past several Heavenwind bands, Evan finally reached the fearsome Glasswind. Suddenly, a massive force ripped the sand from his body, and he was sucked into the black Glasswind vortex...
