You Are Not Worthy of Him

Seeing the stifled and helpless look on Morgan Shangguan’s face, Damien Gray seemed to know exactly what she was thinking. Amusement quickly flickered in his eyes, the curve of his lips grew wider, and finally, he burst out laughing and sensibly left before Morgan could lose her temper.

Morgan Shangguan watched him walk away and snorted coldly. "Laugh all you want! Don’t even think about sharing my bed tonight!"

Morgan Shangguan strolled unhurriedly back to her room, but ran into Leo Leaf in the garden. She naturally didn’t like this woman, but she couldn’t be bothered to deal with her either. She trusted Damien Gray to handle things with proper boundaries!

Leo Leaf saw that Morgan merely glanced at her and walked right past, completely ignoring her existence. Rage surged in her heart, her eyes naked with jealousy. She called out coldly, "Stop right there!"

Morgan Shangguan paused, turned to look at her, and arched her brow with interest. It seemed that if she didn’t go looking for trouble, someone would come looking for her instead!

Leo Leaf sized her up and sneered, "The Ghostmaster’s Consort really is something, isn’t she? Is it because Damien Gray can’t satisfy you that you’re so restless, seducing the Sect Master? But I heard Damien Gray just had a pair of dragon-phoenix twins, so clearly he’s not that useless. Or is it that he just refuses to satisfy you?" Her lips curled in mockery, her eyes dark with malice, and her tone was downright vicious.

Morgan Shangguan sighed. She’d known this woman wasn’t as meek as she appeared, but she hadn’t expected the side hidden beneath that façade to be so ugly. She didn’t even have the urge to bully her anymore!

Morgan Shangguan turned to leave. She knew Damien Gray didn’t have much patience—he’d gone to see Duanmu Li, but would likely send him away soon. Since there was nothing else to do, she might as well wait for him in her room!

Leo Leaf flashed in front of her, blocking her path. With a cold face, she said, "You’re not worthy of him! A woman like you could never accept his true self. Once you see how cruel he can really be, you’ll want to run away. You’ll regret ever getting involved with him!"

“Cruel?” Morgan Shangguan asked with interest. “Just how cruel is he? If I can’t accept his true self, then… can he accept yours?”

Morgan Shangguan’s lips curled slightly. She realized she had truly changed a lot—if she’d met someone like this before Damien Gray, she would have simply walked away, feeling that even responding was a waste of time. But now, she was still standing here!

Leo Leaf seemed to be struck where it hurt; her expression twisted. Yes, the Sect Master would never accept her, whether it was her true self or her false one. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be standing here, jealous of this woman!

Leo Leaf forced a warped smile and spoke slowly, "Have you ever seen him smile as he twists someone’s neck? Have you ever seen him dismember a body? The people who die by his hand all have twisted faces, contorted by terror. Once you step into hell, no matter how hard you try, you can’t pull your foot back. He loves to watch people struggle in their final moments, so he never gives them a quick death. What he wants is for them to feel the horror of falling into hell, to watch their blood slowly drain away, to taste death’s chilling terror…"

Morgan Shangguan said nothing. She could imagine such a scene: Damien Gray, furious, with a sneering smile and eyes full of cold contempt, as if the person in his grasp was nothing but a dying ant.

Lost in thought, she suddenly sensed a disturbance in the air. Instinctively, Morgan Shangguan struck out to defend herself.

It was just Leo Leaf’s bad luck. Morgan rarely let her guard down, but Leo Leaf happened to catch her at that moment. Acting unconsciously, Morgan forgot to hold back, and there was no way Leo Leaf could be a match for her.

Now Leo Leaf was lying on the ground, blood spilling from her mouth, clearly seriously injured. She stared at Morgan Shangguan in utter disbelief—she’d never imagined Morgan could fight, let alone be so unfathomably strong!

Leo Leaf lashed out at Morgan Shangguan because she was blinded by anger. She’d kept provoking, claiming she’d steal Damien Gray away, but Morgan had been lost in thought, not even hearing her words. To Leo Leaf, that was Morgan’s utter disregard for her, which was infuriating!

If she hadn’t lost her mind with rage, Leo Leaf would never have dared hurt Morgan Shangguan—she knew Damien Gray’s methods were more than she could bear!

After a brief shock, Leo Leaf’s eyes were filled only with anger and frustration. She’d thought her rival was just a pretty face, but now she realized Morgan was far superior. Leo Leaf’s feelings were easy to imagine!

But as she saw the person approaching in the distance, Leo Leaf felt a surge of relief—it was far better to be hurt by Morgan Shangguan than to have hurt her herself!

Damien Gray walked over, glanced at the injured Leo Leaf, pulled Morgan Shangguan into his arms, and frowned, "What happened?"

Leo Leaf looked up at Damien Gray and called softly, "Sect Master..." She didn’t say anything more, just gazed at him with tear-filled eyes, looking utterly aggrieved.

In this, she was actually clever—at this moment, saying more would be useless. Her silent grievance was more likely to win sympathy. But she’d forgotten that the man before her was the cold and ruthless Ghostmaster, not someone easily swayed. Perhaps seeing Damien’s affection for Morgan Shangguan had made her believe he was gentle and compassionate!

Morgan Shangguan didn’t bother to explain. She just pulled him close and kissed him, teasing, "Ghostmaster, you really do move fast!"

Damien Gray snorted, "You know I don’t like him!"

Of course Morgan Shangguan knew how much Damien Gray disliked Liam Duanmu. The fact that he hadn’t thrown Liam out immediately was already merciful—no one could expect him to sit and chat politely with an uninvited guest!

Damien Gray held Morgan Shangguan as they walked forward, seemingly forgetting all about the wounded woman on the ground. Leo Leaf’s eyes brimmed with resentment—she couldn’t accept that Damien Gray ignored her but was so gentle with another woman!

After a few steps, Damien Gray suddenly stopped and said coldly, "Go collect your punishment!" He didn’t ask for details; it seemed that no matter who was at fault, he’d already decided Morgan Shangguan was blameless—or rather, even if she was at fault, he’d defend her to the end!

"Sect Master..." Leo Leaf’s eyes flashed with fear, and she scrambled to her feet, wanting to say something. But her movement aggravated her internal injuries, and she could only cough violently, anxiously watching Damien Gray. He showed not the slightest pity, turning to her with eyes as cold and deadly as ice. Before she could speak, he warned in a chilling voice, "If this happens again, you know the consequences!"
