Lucas Lin's fingers trembled slightly. "Miss Chow, this kind of thing..."
"Did you enjoy your meal with Rona Muir today?" Zoey Chow asked calmly. The question made Lucas Lin's pupils contract instantly.
"Lucas, are you interested in Rona Muir?" Zoey Chow raised her hand and gently stroked Lucas Lin's handsome face—his untouched, natural face. It was this face that caught her eye and made her keep him close.
"Miss Chow, you've misunderstood." Even though Lucas Lin was panicking inside, his expression remained sincere. "I really just bumped into President Muir, and when we had dinner last night, I thought maybe there was some misunderstanding between you and her, so I decided to pay the bill myself and help boost your reputation. As for anything else, I honestly haven’t thought about it. You're the one who gave me the chance to get a foothold in the entertainment industry, and I’ve always remembered the importance of gratitude. My feelings for you are genuine."
Zoey Chow looked at Lucas Lin with growing satisfaction. "Look at you, such a sweet talker!"
Lucas Lin immediately sat down on the floor, looking up at Zoey Chow with sincerity. "Miss Chow, you don't need to test me. I've always been grateful to you."
"Come on, get up. The floor’s cold." Zoey Chow pulled Lucas Lin up from the ground. "Since you remember my kindness, then do as I say—go win over Rona Muir and get her company’s bid."
Zoey Chow continued, "Now I get why my brother suddenly called me and found you this opportunity. He’s got his own agenda. He’s always got the latest info—knows I ran into Rona Muir here. But, tsk tsk, I bet he doesn’t know Rona Muir is meeting Sean Kerr here, does he? Well, whatever. Business is war. Who laughs last, laughs best."
Lucas Lin’s eyes flickered, not daring to respond casually.
He still couldn’t be sure if Zoey Chow was testing his loyalty or really sending him to seduce Rona Muir for information.
"Lately, Danni Cosmetics has been rising way too fast. Just a little startup, and now it’s challenging my brother’s company." Zoey Chow went on, "No wonder my brother’s so wary of Rona Muir. Can’t blame him, really, since she’s backed by Yin Enterprises. It’s normal for him to be cautious. He might not be able to take down Danni Cosmetics, but snatching a bid from her is doable."
Lucas Lin lowered his head, hiding his expression.
"Lucas, you’ve been with me for a while now," Zoey Chow continued. "I know you’ve been wanting to leave. You’re a bit famous now, and rumors about being kept would only hurt your career."
"Miss Chow, I’ve never thought that." Lucas Lin quickly replied, "Even if I leave the entertainment industry someday, I’ll always remember what you’ve done for me."
"Good." Zoey Chow said, satisfied. "As long as you do this well, our agreement is finished. Everything I promised you, you’ll get."
"Thank you, Miss Chow." Only now did Lucas Lin realize Zoey Chow truly wanted him to get close to Rona Muir.
Lucas Lin didn’t really want to do this for Zoey Chow, but if the person was Rona Muir, he didn’t seem to mind.
Zoey Chow patted the back of Lucas Lin’s hand, pleased. Lucas Lin immediately understood, scooped her up in his arms, and carried her straight into the bathroom.
At that moment, Rona Muir had no idea what task Zoey Chow had given Lucas Lin. All she wanted was to smash Jiro Hirayama’s stupid head.
While shopping today, she bought a dreamcatcher, took a photo of it, and sent it to Jiro Hirayama, asking if he thought it looked nice.
