"Just trust me on this. These Netherbeasts may not be all that strong, but killing them will attract much more powerful ones. You think I don't want to vent a little and slaughter them myself? Sometimes curiosity really does get people killed. Let's get out of here—leave as fast as we can!" Evan Chu said helplessly.
Roxy Lin immediately returned to Evan Chu's side and said to Ethan and Ryan, "Let's just go. We'll talk again when we're actually safe. Right now, danger could strike at any moment—we can't let Evan worry about us."
Ethan and Ryan both nodded helplessly. Just as they were about to shoot into the sky, the Netherbeasts suddenly began howling at the heavens—a series of deafening roars echoed across the dark-red prairie. Evan Chu’s heart skipped a beat. “Not good! These things just realized we’re trying to escape—they’re calling even stronger Netherbeasts!”
"Seriously? You know even that? These things can't fly, so what's there to be afraid of? As long as we’re airborne, won’t we be fine?" Ryan said at that moment.
"Trouble’s coming. I just hope things don’t get too noisy, or we really won’t be able to survive in the Netherworld." Evan Chu said, helplessly.
Just then, several figures suddenly appeared in the sky, instantly landing in front of Evan Chu and the others. "These are Netherbeasts in human form. Actually, Netherbeasts here in the Netherworld are pretty much the same as magical beasts back in Azure Tide Ruins—they can all transform. Everyone, be careful!"
"Lowly humans, how dare you come to Eastplain Prairie? Don’t you know this is the Beast King’s turf? Our Beast King made a deal long ago with Zander Xiang, the strongest of your kind—without his written order, no human may enter here. Otherwise, it’s death. So, will you kill yourselves or do we have to do it for you?" one of the middle-aged men said.
Evan Chu was startled when he saw the newcomers. Five people had arrived, one of them a woman—an incredibly seductive type. If she were back in Azure Tide Ruins, she’d probably drive countless young men wild. But to Evan, she held zero appeal; his tastes had long been spoiled by true beauties.
But as for Ryan and Ethan, Evan couldn’t be sure. He felt like the two of them were staring straight at the woman, practically trying to see through her clothes—their expressions were honestly a bit pervy.
"We only came here by accident, and we haven’t shown you Netherbeasts the slightest disrespect. Please let us go—just let us leave!" Evan Chu said politely, once again forcing himself to say things he didn’t mean. If he’d come to the Netherworld alone, he’d have just slaughtered these people outright.
But right now, he couldn’t afford to be reckless. With Roxy and the others here, Evan Chu had to think about their safety—which left him feeling pretty frustrated.
The seductive woman giggled, her voice practically dripping honey. "Little brother, you’re rather handsome. Why not come back to Beast King City with big sis? I’ll take good care of you." Her words sent a shiver down his spine.
"We appreciate the offer, miss, but please let us go. We really didn’t mean to come here, and I hope you can understand that." Evan Chu repeated himself, trying once more to keep things peaceful.
"Kid, you talk too much. If you won’t do it yourselves, let me help you out!" barked a burly, bearded middle-aged man in a purple robe—the so-called Protector.
"Evan, looks like there’s no way out of this. What’s your plan?" Roxy whispered to Evan Chu.
"If we can't avoid this, then we fight. These five aren’t all that strong—about fifth-layer Saint Martial Realm, except for the so-called Protector, who’s at sixth layer. You guys don’t need to kill them, just keep yourselves safe. Once I’ve taken out the Protector, I’ll clean up the rest." Evan Chu said.
Evan’s words reached Ethan and Ryan, too. The four exchanged glances, then sprang into action, launching a preemptive strike against the five enemies.
Evan Chu wanted to end things quickly, so he opened with a devastating Heaven‑Cleave. These Netherbeasts had taken human form, but he had no idea how tough their defenses were—so he attacked with maximum speed and power.
Seeing Evan Chu’s group attack, the Protector roared, "Lowly humans, you dare act up in front of me? You’re courting death—today you’ll learn what real power is!"
He swung his wolf‑tooth club, but even as the words left his mouth, Evan Chu’s Heaven‑Cleave was already upon him—so fast he didn’t even have time to react.
Heaven‑Cleave could kill even seventh‑layer Saint Martial human experts—so taking out a mere sixth‑layer Netherbeast was nothing. The force of the attack really did feel like it could rip the world apart; the surrounding space shook violently, and even the distant wolf‑shaped Netherbeasts all flattened themselves on the ground, unable to move.
With a thunderous crash, Evan Chu’s Frostbane Sword smashed directly into the Protector’s wolf‑tooth club. The massive sword‑qi shattered the club and slammed into his body.
The result was instant decapitation—dead in a single exchange. The Protector died in disbelief, never expecting to be slaughtered so easily.
Meanwhile, back in Beast King City, a middle‑aged man in white robes and a crown frowned slightly. Glancing at the distant sky, he said, "Didn’t expect another powerhouse to show up in the Netherworld—how rare."
After killing the Protector, Evan Chu didn’t pause for a second. He immediately unleashed Earthsplitter with his Frostbane Sword, striking a Netherbeast that was fighting Roxy. The blow didn’t quite kill it, but it came close.
Speed and power—those were the impressions Evan Chu left on everyone. The remaining fighters, seeing the Protector killed in a single move by this young cultivator, instantly wanted to flee. One reverted to beast form and spat out a cloud of black smoke, plunging the area into pitch darkness for dozens of meters.
Evan Chu knew they’d try to escape, so he immediately used teleportation to blink out. Sure enough, he saw the three survivors scattering in different directions. He didn’t care—he’d dealt with this kind of split-up escape back when fighting the Blood Alliance’s leaders. This was nothing new.
He flashed forward and caught up to one, instantly unleashing Soul‑Cleave. As the enemy’s soul was torn apart, Evan followed up with Earthsplitter, killing him on the spot.
Evan Chu’s teleportation behind his target was utterly silent; Soul‑Cleave had no energy fluctuations, so it drew no attention. In less than half a stick of incense, he’d hunted down and killed all three fleeing fighters.
Only when killing the woman did Evan Chu run into an awkward moment. After her soul was wounded, she immediately begged, "Please, young master, spare me! I never meant to hurt you—I just wanted to bring you back to Beast King City. If you let me go, I’ll do anything you want!"
