Coming to See Him

Evan Lin understood what Byron Yang was thinking, but he couldn't be bothered to waste words explaining.

The second period was physics. As soon as the bell rang, a boy sitting by the window looked at Evan with envy and called out, "Evan, someone’s looking for you!"

After he called out, Evan glanced outside the classroom and saw two people standing at the doorway.

One was Wendy Wen, director of the Capitalview First High School radio station and president of the literature club, frowning and pouting as she muttered under her breath. The other was Lynn Chen, whose cold expression still couldn't hide how eye-catching she was.

“He’s really standing here perfectly fine. That’s rare, wow.”

Evan walked out of the classroom, and Wendy Wen looked him up and down, clicking her tongue in amazement, her face full of surprise.

“Come over here.”

Lynn Chen tried to act fierce, but her words only came out cold—not actually intimidating.

Wendy Wen and Lynn Chen were both natural head-turners. When they showed up, plenty of people started glancing their way.

Now, as they watched Lynn Chen lead Evan aside, even more students looked at him with envy in their eyes.

They walked until they reached a spot where no one else was around.

“If you’ve got something to say, just say it.”

Evan looked at Lynn Chen and Wendy Wen, breaking the silence.

“What’s your relationship with that celebrity, Serena Tong?” Lynn Chen stared into Evan’s eyes, as if trying to see straight through him.

“Yeah, what was up with that day? How did you get backstage so easily? The person who brought you in was named Queenie Tong, right? Isn’t she Serena Tong’s sister? What’s your connection to her?” Wendy Wen pressed, her gaze sharp and insistent.

Evan glanced at them. “Serena Tong is sick. I’m treating her.”

“She’s sick? If a big star like her was sick, wouldn’t all the top doctors be lining up to help? Why would it be you?” Wendy Wen clearly didn’t believe it, thinking Evan was trying to fool her. “Do you think I’m dumb and easy to trick?”

Wendy Wen shot him a suspicious look.

“You’re not dumb, just a little short on IQ.” Evan said it with a straight face.

Wendy Wen was so angry she nearly jumped.

But Lynn Chen quickly pulled her back. Lynn knew Evan had real medical skills and an old Chinese medicine master as a mentor—he’d even cured Haiyang Sheng before. So when Evan said that, Lynn half believed him and felt a bit relieved.

“Then what’s your relationship with that female reporter?”

Lynn Chen hadn’t left Shangri-La that night; she’d waited for a long time.

When she saw Evan and the female reporter leave the hotel late at night, she felt secretly frustrated.

Honestly, Lynn didn’t think she was any less attractive than Stella Huang. In fact, she was even sweeter and more adorable, and her figure was definitely no worse.

She just couldn’t accept it—why could Stella stay with Evan in the hotel until so late?

“Relationship?” Evan thought for a moment. “Not much, just friends who live together.”

“Living together… and you still call that just friends?”

At first, Lynn relaxed a bit at Evan’s first words, but when she heard the second half, she felt like she’d been hit by a jolt of electricity.

“You live with her!”

Lynn Chen’s eyes went wide.

Wendy Wen also gaped, too stunned to speak.

They were still high schoolers. Stories about cohabitation were common, but actually seeing someone they knew do it was rare.

“Honestly, it doesn’t really concern you.”

Evan glanced at Lynn Chen, speaking calmly.

Hearing that, Lynn’s face instantly went cold, her voice tense: “It doesn’t matter. I just wanted to check if anything happened to you. I haven’t thanked you for what you did that day.”

“If it weren’t for you, we might not have gotten out of there so smoothly. But no matter what, hitting people is still wrong.”

Lynn blurted it all out in one breath.

Wendy Wen chimed in, looking serious: “Yeah, I came here just to thank you too. If it weren’t for you, I might’ve been stuck with that ‘Hammer Bro.’”

“Also, let me warn you—Sam Su has a bad temper and he’s dangerous. I don’t know what you’ve been up to lately, but if he’s after you, you’d better back off or you’ll regret it.”

The two girls finished, both raising their chins, faces cold as they stared at Evan.

“Sam Su wouldn’t dare mess with me.”

Evan shook his head.

“Don’t think just because you know the Su family’s elders you can do whatever you want. Favors run out, you know! You don’t get it!”

Lynn thought Evan was acting this way because he’d earned Victor Su’s favor at White Dragon Mountain Resort that day.

But just like Lynn said, people at the top don’t just act on sentiment. Evan might have helped Victor Su, but who knows if Sam Su might turn on him.

“I don’t need to get it. Anyone who comes looking for trouble with me is really just asking for trouble themselves.” Evan said calmly, looking at Lynn.

To Lynn, his words sounded outrageously arrogant.

“There’s always a higher sky and stronger people—don’t you get that?”

Lynn was left feeling aggrieved, her eyes reddening.

“I get all that, but I am that higher sky, that mountain beyond the mountain, that person above all others.”

Evan spoke leisurely, completely at ease.

“Unbelievable!” Lynn Chen puffed out her cheeks, still thinking about Evan living with Stella Huang, and feeling stifled inside.

Sensing the tension, Wendy Wen grew curious and asked, “So you and the female reporter live together? Do you share a room and a bed?”

When Wendy asked, Lynn’s ears perked up, straining to listen.

“No, there are three rooms. We each sleep in our own.”

Evan shook his head.

Lynn’s tense face finally relaxed a little.

But just as Lynn was about to leave, Wendy blurted out, “Three rooms? Doesn’t that mean one’s still empty?”

“That room’s taken—by a flight attendant.” Evan shook his head.

That room was occupied.

By a… flight attendant?

A flight attendant!

“Whoa, two girls and one guy?” Wendy’s eyes went wide, but as soon as she said it, she realized how it sounded. Right then, Lynn stomped her foot and dragged Wendy away, refusing to look back!
