The Earthquake Strikes

1/4/2026

Looking down from the plane, the entire city seemed to be trembling. (Earl Field was also on board, his presence adding to the tension.)

Many of the low-rise buildings had already begun to collapse.

Countless billboards on the city streets were falling like dumplings into a pot, dropping one after another. (Earl Field's gaze swept over the chaos with grim resolve.)

The city that was once brightly lit was now swallowed by darkness in large swathes.

It was as if a massive beast was devouring this bustling city, bite by bite.

Everyone on the plane wore heavy expressions.

Charles Yin held Cici Grant tightly in his arms, unwilling to let go even for a moment.

At this moment, Cici was still unconscious, but somehow she felt that she had returned.

The real Cici Grant had finally returned!

"President, our chosen landing spot is just ten kilometers ahead. It's already outside the boundaries of Osaka City, right at the border between Osaka and Nara! For safety, we've set up a shelter on a small hill," Alex reported quickly. "Everything is ready there, but there's no place to land, so we'll have to make a mid-air emergency landing!"

Charles Yin nodded, "Cici, stay close to me. I'll take you down safely!"

For those who have served in the military, especially paratroopers, mid-air emergency landings are basic tactical maneuvers. Ben, Charles Yin's assistant, was already checking the equipment.

For Charles Yin, this was no problem at all. (Earl Field seemed equally unfazed.)

But carrying an unconscious person made it much more difficult, especially with the earthquake happening right now.

A safe landing was indeed very difficult.

Charles Yin glanced back and saw that Earl Field was also preparing to land.

"Earl Field, are you really joining the excitement?" Charles Yin raised an eyebrow at Earl Field. "Once we're down, you can leave with the plane! Heading north will be much safer!"

Earl Field grinned. In the dim cabin light, his red eyes and lips, contrasted against his pale teeth, made him look almost ghostly. If not for the lack of sharp fangs, one could mistake him for a vampire.

"Life would be so dull without a little adventure! Besides, I want to meet Cici Grant!" Earl Field's smile grew even brighter.

He said Cici Grant, not Yun Xi.

Clearly, he knew that with Cici Grant's return, Yun Xi would retreat into the background.

Even though Cici Grant and Yun Xi are the same person.

Count Phil raised an eyebrow, his seductive red eyes flashing with a hint of mockery.

The tremors on the ground finally began to settle.

The plane had already arrived near the hilltop.

Someone on the ground quickly set up lights to guide the plane to its landing spot.

The helicopter reached the designated spot and hovered at its lowest safe altitude, not daring to go any lower.

The cabin door opened. Charles Yin strapped Cici Grant securely to himself, grabbed the rope with both hands, and leapt out, descending rapidly!

The top of the hill had been artificially leveled into a smooth surface, about three to four hundred square meters in size.

Several tents were already set up on the summit, with bonfires burning for both light and warmth.

As soon as Charles Yin and Cici Grant landed, someone rushed over to take Cici from Charles, carefully placing her on a camp bed inside one of the tents.

Count Phil landed right after them and said, "You're pretty fast!"

Fast is an understatement.

In just five hours, everything here was ready.

Charles Yin straightened his sleeves, ignored Count Phil's comment, and turned to his assistant Xiao B. "Is everything ready?"

"Yes, President," Xiao B replied immediately.

Charles Yin's lips curled into a cold smile. "Three years ago, the Forbidden Serum that leaked from the Inagawa-kai was smuggled out through Osaka. Yin Xuemo tracked it here from Thailand and took that batch of drugs. If we dealt with Yin Xuemo but left Osaka's branch untouched, how could we let them off so easily?"

Count Phil's red pupils suddenly contracted!

"You stayed here on purpose? You deliberately let Clarence stay in Osaka..." Count Phil suddenly couldn't continue, and after taking a deep breath, he said angrily, "Charles Yin, you're too cunning! You wolf!"

"Hmph!" Charles Yin snorted coldly. "My motto has always been revenge—hundredfold, thousandfold, ten-thousandfold! I can't openly strike at Inagawa-kai, but that doesn't mean I can't secretly cut off one of their limbs! If someone else was in charge of Osaka's branch, I couldn't make a move. But if Clarence is in charge..."

Count Phil understood instantly!

If someone else was in charge, they might be busy with disaster recovery and wouldn't bother Charles Yin.

But if Clarence is here, she definitely won't be able to resist stirring up trouble!

As long as Clarence brings people to cause trouble, Charles Yin will have a legitimate reason for revenge. Even if he wipes out the entire Osaka branch, the Inagawa-kai boss can't say a word!

So arrogant!

So brazen!

But Count Phil had to admit, this man really had the right to be arrogant and brazen!

Turns out, from the moment he set foot in Japan, everything was already under his control!

That fool Clarence thought she could cause trouble for others, but she never realized she was just a disposable pawn in someone else's game!

Maybe even his own appearance was part of Charles Yin's calculations...

This man was simply unfathomable!

No wonder his father kept warning him not to make an enemy of this man!

A king who can dominate Europe, the Middle East, and Africa is truly not someone ordinary people can figure out!

So clever, it's almost demonic!

Charles Yin seemed to guess Count Phil's thoughts. His narrow eyes were solemn. "No, your appearance wasn't part of my plan, but after you showed up, I adjusted my strategy."

Tch!

He would've been better off not explaining! The explanation just made him feel even more frustrated!

He really had been used!

Of course, Charles Yin had planned it all along, sending him to Clarence for the antidote!

This man really is... impossible to like!

Charles Yin didn't linger. He quickly said, "There will be aftershocks following the earthquake. We must stay alert!"

As soon as he finished speaking, it was as if the earth responded to Charles Yin's words—it started trembling again.

Everyone turned at once, grabbing onto anything they could to steady themselves.

Charles Yin rushed into the tent, grabbed Cici Grant tightly in one arm, and with the other gripped the steel bar anchoring the tent to keep himself steady.

This aftershock came too fast!

This also meant the tsunami probably wasn’t far off!

It was only around three in the morning. Even with Osaka's emergency measures, facing a disaster this big, evacuation would be nearly impossible.

The lights overhead swayed with the trembling earth.

No one spoke. Everyone was fighting to withstand the fury of the earth.

"Uh... mm..." A muffled groan came from Charles Yin's arms.

A delicate hand suddenly reached out, grabbing Charles Yin's clothes. With a pained groan, she cried out, "It hurts..."

Cici Grant was awake!

Charles Yin quickly lowered his head and planted a heavy kiss on Cici Grant's forehead. "Cici, hold on to me!"

Cici Grant opened her hazy eyes. Everywhere she looked, the world was shaking!

Instinctively, she looked up at Charles Yin.

In the chaotic light, Charles Yin's handsome, devilish face was full of solemnity.

"Charles?! Where are we? Why is the ground shaking?" Cici Grant froze, then threw her arms around Charles Yin's neck, holding on tightly to steady herself.

Hearing this, even though Charles Yin was a bit disheveled, his heart soared with joy!

That way of speaking was unmistakably Cici Grant!

"Don't be afraid, it's an earthquake!" Charles Yin explained quickly. "This is the first aftershock! There might be a tsunami tonight, but we're safe up on the mountain."

Cici Grant didn’t say another word. She reached out and gripped the steel bar, anchoring herself alongside Charles Yin.

This aftershock came quickly and ended just as fast.

After a few minutes of shaking, everything went quiet again.

Once the ground was calm, Cici Grant let go and leaned against Charles Yin, exhausted. "How did an earthquake just happen out of nowhere?"

"Cici?" Charles Yin didn’t answer, but asked her instead, "Are you... okay now?"

Cici Grant rubbed her forehead, then tiredly hugged Charles Yin's waist, pressing her face to his chest. "Charles, I'm back..."

Just those words nearly broke the strong man Charles Yin.

He tightened his arms, holding Cici Grant close to his chest. "It's good you're back. It's good... that you're back..."

Cici Grant's nose stung with emotion.

She had finally merged all her memories—those of Cici Grant, Yun Nuo, and Yun Xi.

It was a hard process, but she had done it.

"I'm sorry for putting you through all this," Cici Grant said, her voice trembling.

His response was a wild, passionate kiss.

All their worries and grievances were released in that passionate kiss!

Cici Grant let Charles Yin pour out all his pain and stubbornness onto her. She welcomed it gently.

When the kiss finally ended, Cici Grant cupped Charles Yin's face, her expression sincere. "I won't do anything foolish again. Trust me, okay?"

Charles Yin pulled Cici Grant back into his arms, didn’t answer, and just closed his eyes tightly.

Knock, knock, knock—there was a sound at the door.

Count Phil's teasing voice came from outside: "I didn’t mean to interrupt your romance, but I have to say, that aftershock ended too quickly. There might be an even bigger one soon. For your own safety, save the romance for later, okay?"
