Beyond the Swirling Storm

2/14/2026

The news of Master Morgan's death atop Thousand‑Saints Mountain quickly spread throughout Seacrest Prefecture and Jinnan, causing ripples even in Oceanport.

From then on, the rumors about Master Lin from Seacrest grew ever more fantastical.

Some said he was a youth wreathed in flames; others claimed the person who buried Morgan atop Thousand‑Saints Mountain wasn't Master Lin from Seacrest at all.

Previously, Master Lin became famous for slaying River City's Number One, Drake Huang, and fourth‑grade Vajra Cheng Jiahe. Now, after killing Morgan—the teacher of Drake Huang—and summoning twin dragons to assist him, his reputation has become truly mysterious.

With all these stories flying around, whether people knew Master Lin’s true identity or not, most remembered that blazing youth who rode dragons atop the snowy peak of Thousand‑Saints Mountain.

With Morgan defeated and dead, the Zuo family was completely wiped out, the Summer Family gained new opportunities, and even Wansheng Wang became even more determined to support Master Lin from Seacrest.

Brightsea City, Brightsea Garden Court.

"Xiao Yi, what have you been up to these days? I called you so many times to come eat, but you never showed." Lucy Lu looked at Evan Lin with a bit of reproach. "If you haven't been eating well in Brightsea and end up starving yourself, your mom will definitely get mad at me!"

"Just had some things to take care of. They're all settled now." Evan smiled at Lucy Lu.

"If something's up, you can always tell Aunt Lucy. Maybe I could help you figure things out. Plus, Lillian's been really worried about you these past few days."

Lucy Lu shot Evan a look and headed toward the kitchen.

Lynn Chen, lounging on the sofa watching TV, heard Lucy’s words and tensed up inside, stealing a subtle glance at Evan.

She frowned slightly, feeling that Evan Lin in front of her looked a lot like the Master Lin from Seacrest she saw that day—their faces were almost identical—but the vibe he gave off was completely different.

The Master Lin who fought Morgan that day was like blazing fire, ready to ignite with battle spirit at any moment. But the Evan Lin sitting here felt like someone who didn’t care about anything, detached from the world—more like a block of ice.

"What are you watching?"

Evan glanced over at Lynn and asked.

"Nothing much." Lynn snapped out of it, hurriedly turned away, and then casually said, "Did you go up Thousand‑Saints Mountain a few days ago? There were gods fighting up there—it looked just like a movie."

"Yeah, I went." Evan nodded.

That left Lynn at a loss for words.

After a moment, she forced herself to say, "I thought Master Lin from Seacrest looked pretty handsome."

After Lynn said that, she didn’t get a reply, and felt a bit disappointed inside.

"Lynn, go to your dad’s room and bring down that bottle of red wine. Your dad went to pick up Uncle Sheng’s family, and they’ll probably be back soon. Let’s open the wine and let it breathe first."

"Okay!" Lynn answered, got up from the sofa, and hurried upstairs.

"Xiao Yi, watch some TV for now. If you're hungry, there are fruits and cookies on the table—help yourself."

Lucy reminded him, wiped her hands, and then headed upstairs too.

Upstairs, Lucy saw Lynn grabbing the wine, immediately walked over, pulled her aside, shut the door, and said sternly, "Quick, take off your clothes."

"Huh?" Lynn stared at Lucy, a little confused. "Why do I need to take off my clothes?"

"Of course it’s to change into something nicer! I was planning for us to have a simple family dinner with Evan, but as soon as Uncle Sheng heard Evan was coming, he insisted on catching up and having drinks with your dad." Lucy muttered as she rummaged through the wardrobe.

"Uncle Sheng and Dad want to catch up, so let them. Why do I have to change? They’re not here for me." Lynn was still a bit lost.

Lucy turned and tapped Lynn on the forehead. "Sure, your uncle’s here to catch up with your dad, but his daughter is obviously coming just to see Xiao Yi!"

"Claire Sheng?" Lynn was startled at the mention of that name.

Claire had always looked like a porcelain doll. Back when Haiyang Sheng fell ill, Lynn saw her in the hospital and thought she was just too adorable to resist.

"Exactly! What did you think? Your Uncle Sheng never visits, but the moment he hears Xiao Yi is coming for dinner, he insists on joining in. And your dad—ugh, he's such a fool, just agreed over the phone without a second thought!" Lucy was exasperated.

She had even prepared two movie tickets, planning for Evan to take Lynn out after dinner.

But now, all that was ruined.

"Just wait till after dinner—I'll show your dad what's what. I’ll go grab the washboard and make sure he remembers this lesson!"

Lucy was fuming. Seeing Lynn still standing there, she tossed a few outfits her way. "Try these on. No matter what, you can’t let your guard down."

"I’ll touch up your makeup later, too!"

Lucy looked deadly serious—she really was worrying herself sick over her daughter.

Downstairs, Evan lounged on the sofa, watching TV.

Evan’s phone rang. He picked it up.

The caller was Faye Zheng.

"Evan, where are you now? Tell me, okay? If my parents find out I lost you, I’ll get yelled at when I go home."

On the other end, Faye's voice was soft and coaxing, almost like she was trying to sweet‑talk him.

"Busy."

Evan said just two words and hung up.

"He actually dared to hang up on me!"

At a restaurant, Faye Zheng stared at her phone, grinding her teeth in anger. "That brat really thinks he's some kind of big shot!"

"He’s so ungrateful!"

"Damn it, we haven’t been able to catch him for days. Master Yan already went back to Oceanport yesterday, and we’re still stuck here doing nothing?"

A few of the rich second‑gen kids were seriously pissed off.

They were still hung up on being thrown off the bus that day. They’d wanted to find Evan while Master Yan was around and teach him a lesson.

But to their surprise, that guy hadn’t shown his face for days.

Master Yan had already gone back to Oceanport. The group of second‑gens originally planned to leave too, but Faye Zheng insisted on staying, which left them all confused.

"Faye, you didn’t stick around just for that guy, did you? Or... are you trying to find Master Lin from Seacrest?"

Leo Li, sitting nearby, looked at Faye and spoke quietly.

Faye paused for a moment, then nodded without hesitation. "Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking."

"Now that Master Yan’s gone, if I can find Master Lin from Seacrest and get him to help, teaching Evan a lesson would be a breeze! And if I can get on Master Lin’s good side and invite him to the Zheng family, I’ll have really done something great for the clan!"
