Two massive stone gates slowly creaked open. Instantly, a biting cold wind spilled out from within, making me shiver uncontrollably.
Inside, everything was a murky green, making it impossible to see what lay ahead. But a strip of white gauze was visible, like a narrow path.
"Anyone leaving, remember to step on the white gauze. That'll take you outside."
Rachel Lan said this, taking the lead and stepping inside. Easton Grant and his group hurriedly followed.
I glanced back one last time at those who chose to stay.
"Ethan, hurry up!"
Rachel Lan urged.
"What about Yuna Ji?"
"Don't worry, Ethan. She is..." Rachel Lan paused, then continued.
"Let's go first. She'll be here soon."
Rachel Lan's gaze seemed to deliberately avoid my questioning eyes.
It was thanks to those three women that no one inside had been found by ghosts these past few days. I didn't know what had happened, but now Samantha Simons was still unconscious, her condition dire.
But then I thought of Sandra Yu. She was injured by a ghost at Eastwind Gas Company that day, but after staying a few days in my apartment, she recovered.
I stepped inside, and then Rachel Lan raised her hand. The jade-like Netherstone emitted a green glow, and the stone gates closed behind us.
All around was an endless sea of thick green mist, impossible to see through—except for the white ribbon beneath our feet, which was clearly visible.
Someone ahead suddenly cried out. I hurried around to see what happened.
What happened?
My heart skipped a beat and I sucked in a cold breath.
To the right of the white ribbon, a white mountain could be vaguely seen through the green mist. But it wasn't a real mountain—it was a pile of human bones, stacked so densely you couldn't see the end. The bones formed a mountain of skulls.
What's the big deal? Stop making a fuss. Let's keep moving.
