Nightmare After Meeting the Divine Dragon

12/19/2025

Watching the Divine Dragon stare intently at the dragon scale in her hand, Grace felt like she’d gotten herself into trouble.

She said nervously, "Divine Dragon, sir, I didn’t mean to pull off your scale. It was about to fall off, and I was worried it would hurt you, so I helped you take it off, I swear!"

She would never tell him that she actually wanted to use the dragon scale in medicine...

Evan Xiao stared at her, his gaze unwavering.

About to fall off?

That’s exactly how the reverse scale grows!

Hurting your flesh?

I want to tear you apart! Let you know what real pain feels like!

Suddenly, Evan Xiao released her.

Terrified, Grace clung tightly to the dragon’s neck, her big, fluffy, tearful eyes looking pitifully at him. "Divine Dragon, sir, I can’t swim! If you want to let me go, please put me on the shore, okay? Please?"

Even in his dragon form, Evan Xiao felt a rush of heat all over as Grace clung to him so softly. Fighting the urge to tear her apart, he flung her onto the shore, sending her sprawling face-first into the dirt.

No more wrapping her up!

He was worried he might strangle her if he lost control!

I’ll go find her first thing tomorrow morning!

Grace scrambled up, feeling like she’d just survived a disaster.

The Divine Dragon actually put her back on the shore!

Standing on solid ground felt amazing—ha!

She gratefully said to the Divine Dragon, "Thank you, sir! Really, thank you so much! Good dragons get rewarded, so I hope you find a beautiful dragoness one day, have lots of cute dragon babies, and live happily ever after! I’ll take my leave now. Thank you for saving my life!"

With that, she hugged the big dragon scale, sneaking glances at the Divine Dragon as she edged toward the gate.

She’d already unlocked the latch, so now she yanked the door open and dashed outside.

She’d never run so fast in her life.

She sprinted all the way back to her room in the stables, clutching her chest and gasping for breath. After a while, she pinched her face, then her leg—ouch, it hurt! She wasn’t imagining things. She’d actually made it back alive!

She’d escaped from the Forbidden Garden—the place where no one was supposed to make it out alive!

There was actually a dragon in there!

How could there be a dragon?

Books say dragons can be huge or tiny, can rise or hide, can blot out the sun or vanish in plain sight. When soaring, they fly through the universe; when hidden, they live among the people.

That’s something not even humans—let alone Spirit Practitioners—would dare dream of. Only the gods could do that.

But why would it show up in a pond at the General’s Manor?

Was there some super-powerful formation in the Forbidden Garden that could trap a dragon there?

......

She changed out of her soaking wet clothes and lay on the bed, her mind spinning with wild thoughts. At some point, she drifted off to sleep.

While she slept, she seemed to hear Evan Xiao’s deep, pleasant, but chilling voice: "Lily Bai!"

Grace jolted awake, sitting up suddenly.

She saw she was in her room in the stables, not in Cold Moon Pavilion.

She breathed a sigh of relief and lay back down to sleep again.

Damn, that dragon scared her so much she was having nightmares!

"Li-ly Bai!" It was Evan Xiao’s voice again, sounding way too real.

She opened her eyes, looked toward the voice, and then—"Ah!"—sat bolt upright.

He was actually in her room!

Standing right behind her bed!

When she first opened her eyes, he’d been standing just out of her line of sight, so she hadn’t seen him.

"General! Why are you here?" Grace asked.

Evan Xiao gave her a dark look and said, "If you dare tell anyone about what happened in the Forbidden Garden, I’ll feed your whole family to the wolves!"
