Mech Squad

Less than twenty minutes after Landon Lu woke up, the senior leadership of the City Special Police Department arrived together in the intensive-care ward.

"Little Lu, how are you feeling? Anything uncomfortable?" Harvey Zhang patted Landon's shoulder and asked warmly.

"Thank you for your concern, Minister. I'm perfectly fine and can return to work anytime," Landon replied quickly.

Harvey Zhang smiled, "Little Lu, you're the department's treasured asset now. No need to push yourself so hard—just stay here and rest for a while. Come back when you're fully recovered."

"But Minister, I really am fine," Landon said, pretending to be a little frustrated.

"It's fine—just treat it as a vacation. You've only been with us for less than a month and already racked up two major achievements. Your future's bright, kid!"

Standing at the edge of the group, Max Lin couldn't help feeling sour at how much Harvey valued Landon. But he knew he no longer had any right to make things difficult for Landon—what he had to worry about now was whether Landon would take revenge on him!

Harvey Zhang, being the minister, had a lot on his plate, so after chatting with Landon for a while, he left.

Leon Liu finally found a chance to speak to Landon. "Little Lu, you brat! Turns out you were a Psychic Adept all along and kept it a secret—how could you? But honestly, if you hadn't hidden your Psychic Adept status, you wouldn't have stayed in our Fifth Battalion! Ha! Now the other battalions are green with envy!"

Landon smiled modestly, then his expression turned serious. "Captain, how did the interrogation of those people from last night go?"

Ryan Zhou said meaningfully, "Don't worry, Little Lu. The higher-ups will make sure you get justice."

Landon understood what Ryan Zhou meant and thanked him sincerely. "Thank you, Captain."

"It's not about me—it's all thanks to you!"

Ryan Zhou smiled. "By the way, after you're discharged, you should go register your Psychic Adept status. It'll only help you—no downside at all."

Soon after, Ryan Zhou, Leon Liu, and Max Lin all left as well.

The pretty nurse in the intensive-care ward looked at Landon with starry eyes. "You're really a Psychic Adept?"

"Sort of," Landon replied.

This nurse was Tina Jiang. She had a delicate, oval-shaped face and very refined features. Though she was only about 1.6 meters tall, her figure was excellent—especially the two curves beneath her nurse uniform, which drew plenty of attention.

"What do you mean, 'sort of'?" Tina Jiang asked, a little confused.

"Because I only just became a Psychic Adept, and haven't gone for certification yet. So, I can't really call myself an official Psychic Adept."
