The Duel

Jenna Summers's face twisted with anger.

How dare Princess Lily Bai, a mere nobody, talk to her like that!

Seriously, who does she think she is—the star of her own drama?

Even if she really is Lucia Lu reborn, that's just her old glory—now she's just another reincarnation!

Just a Warden-rank immortal! (Warden-rank: a mid-tier cultivation level—not exactly big league in the Divine Realms.)

Trying to outshine the sun and moon with a firefly's little glow—what a joke!

“Princess Lily Bai.” Jenna Summers challenged her, “Since you’re so shamelessly bold, wanna go head-to-head with me?”

Lily didn’t reply.

If she mouths off now... poof, secret identity exposed!

“Lost your nerve?” Jenna Summers sneered. “Weren’t you just bragging about being better than me in this life, the last, and the next? Now that it’s showtime, you’re chickening out?”

"Me? Chickening out?" Princess Lily Bai flicked her hair with a grin. "I'm just worried you all might laugh yourselves silly if I actually show off."

"Ooh, we love the sound of that!" The Lumina Realm noblewomen immediately jumped in. "If we're not mistaken, Princess Lily Bai is just Warden-rank, right? Saying things like that is wild! We're dying to see if she can back it up!"

"Right? Princess Lily Bai, let's see this miracle! How does a Warden-rank immortal take down a Saint Maiden?"

Fine, if my cover gets blown, so be it!

If it means my mother can finally walk tall in this world, I’d gamble everything—even my reputation!

Princess Lily Bai took a deep breath and declared, "Here's my offer! Celestial Empress Liz Li, Second Prince Jason Xiao, I'll duel Second Heir-Consort Jenna Summers. If I win, you lend me the Thunder-Heaven Void-Breaking Chain. If I lose, I'll drop the whole thing forever. How about it?"

Celestial Empress Liz Li arched an eyebrow. "You really mean it?"

Princess Lily Bai nodded. "Just so we're clear: I'm a Rune Master, and my Spirit Talismans can boost my power. Don't go crying foul if I use them!"

“Of course!” The Divine Empress replied. “In this duel, nothing’s off limits! Both sides can use whatever trump cards they have!”

Princess Lily Bai nodded, then looked straight at Jason Xiao. "Second Prince, what's your take?"

"I think it's excellent!" Jason Xiao replied, voice cold and sinister. "But on the dueling stage, blades and spells don't care who you are. If you get hurt or even die, your friends and family better not come crying to me!"

“Oh, come on! Second Prince, they’ll stop before it gets serious,” said a kindly Lumina lady. “We’re all one family—no need to risk lives, right?”

“That’s easy if your strengths are equal,” Jason Xiao said, blind but sharper than ever. “But if the gap is huge, and both sides go all out, someone could get killed by accident. What then?”

“Uh...” The lady grew more uneasy. “Maybe we should just forget it... Let’s not do this...”

“How could we? Everyone’s so excited!” The Divine Empress arched a brow. “Here’s the deal: you’ll both try to stop at the point! If anything dangerous happens, the rest of us can step in and save you! Right, Crown Prince?”

Sean Shaw betrayed no emotion, and after a moment, simply said, “Yes.”

Celestial Empress Liz Li smiled, her eyes glinting. "Settled! Crown Princess, if you can take down Jenna Summers, the Thunder-Heaven Void-Breaking Chain is yours! But if you lose, that's it—never bring it up again. Bianca Whitefan will stay sealed under Heavenly Pool Mountain for the rest of her days. That's her destiny!"

Lily nodded solemnly, her expression grave.
