The Confidence Behind His Words

2/14/2026

Grizzly stood to the side, seeing Eldest Brother Su lose his temper, and found himself at a loss.

He had witnessed Evan Lin's skills with his own eyes, but convincing someone as stern as Eldest Brother Su to accept Evan's words was no easy feat.

After all, Evan Lin was simply too young.

"He actually knows Second Brother Su? I bet Second Brother Su got tricked by him." Helen Qi snapped from the side.

She'd been surprised when she heard Grizzly just now, and after hearing Eldest Brother Su speak, she was convinced this kid Evan Lin must've done something shady to get close to Second Brother Su.

"I think that's possible too. Otherwise, how could someone so young deserve the title of 'master'?" Someone else nodded slightly.

Eldest Brother Su wasn't planning to linger any longer. The manager, who had been indecisive since Grizzly appeared, now couldn't decide whether he should kick Evan Lin out or not.

Under the gaze of the crowd, each with their own thoughts, Evan Lin remained relaxed and at ease, not caring about anyone around him.

Kai Chen, standing nearby, saw Selina Shi subtly shielding Evan Lin and felt a surge of jealousy, clenching his fists tightly.

Just then, a sudden roar erupted from outside the door.

A dark green SA341 Little Gazelle military helicopter sped through the sky, its cold steel body radiating a chilling aura as the spinning rotors whipped up gusts of wind.

Inside the foyer, the guests who had been chatting and laughing heard the noise and all came out, curious, to see what was happening.

"A military helicopter!"

"Who’s arriving? That’s some serious swagger!"

"Whoa, that’s badass."

The SA341 Little Gazelle slowly landed on the Su family helipad.

The cabin door was yanked open from inside, and a dark-skinned man, about forty years old and around 1.75 meters tall, jumped out of the helicopter.

He wore a cold, unruly smirk, a military knife at his side, fully armed—one look and you could feel the pressure.

"It’s Colonel Sean Chen!"

"From Flying Eagle Company—Colonel Sean Chen?"

"His unit has gone up against Eldest Brother Su’s several times, and every time it’s been a total wipeout. I can’t believe he showed up!"

Seeing the man step off the helicopter, a lot of faces changed.

Eldest Brother Su, who had been staring at Evan Lin, instantly turned his gaze to Colonel Sean Chen, his eyes filled with anger—though he hid it well.

"Ha! Old Su, didn’t we say we’d come together? How’d you get here first? I haven’t even shown you the new reward from above yet—this SA341 Little Gazelle. Weren’t you waiting for this for ages? Now that headquarters approved it, I’ll take you for a spin when you’ve got time!" Colonel Sean Chen strode forward as he spoke.

He was originally a lieutenant colonel, same rank as Eldest Brother Su, but lately his troops have been outclassing Eldest Brother Su’s in every way. That’s why he’s now on track for promotion—maybe even full colonel.

Above colonel is senior colonel, and one step further is general.

"No thanks. If you like flying, go ahead. I’m fine with my car." Eldest Brother Su’s voice was a little stiff.

Colonel Sean Chen was obviously here to show off.

Everyone nearby knew exactly what he was doing.

Compared to Colonel Sean Chen’s Flying Eagle Company, Eldest Brother Su’s Knife-Edge unit was outclassed in both team drills and solo combat.

"True, that car of yours was a prize from years ago, right? Not bad—at least it’s a mark of past glory!" Colonel Sean Chen grinned.

His words were loaded with rivalry.

Everyone nearby kept quiet—when two officers at this level talk, picking sides is a bad idea.

"Uncle!"

Kai Chen, who’d been simmering with jealousy, shoved through the crowd and strode right up to Colonel Sean Chen.

"Hey, Kai, you’re here too? Where’s that Shi girl—didn’t come with you?" Colonel Sean Chen laughed when he saw him.

"She’s here, everyone’s here. But Uncle, could you do me a favor?" Kai Chen nodded eagerly.

As soon as he spoke, Eric Yu’s eyes lit up, and he shot a sly look at Evan Lin, who was still lounging on the sofa.

Selina Shi’s pretty face finally cracked—she frowned, stepped forward, and stared at Kai Chen, her voice steady: "Kai Chen, haven’t you made enough trouble?"

Kai Chen’s family isn’t exactly weak. Otherwise, with all the years he’s pestered Selina Shi like some clingy leech, Allen Ju and Warren Wu would’ve dragged him off and dunked him in the river ages ago.

Hearing Kai Chen complain to Colonel Sean Chen, Selina Shi instantly got flustered.

People in these military circles never know when to hold back—if Colonel Sean Chen gets involved, it’s nothing but trouble for Evan Lin.

"Trouble? Selina, you know me—how could this be trouble? I’m just worried you’ll get fooled by him!" Kai Chen shook his head, then turned back to Colonel Sean Chen: "Uncle, that kid snuck in from who knows where. He wasn’t even invited. Now he’s brainwashing Selina—teach him a lesson for me!"

"Is that so?" Colonel Sean Chen raised an eyebrow, his gaze sharp as a blade, locking onto Evan Lin.

He narrowed his eyes, and that iron-blooded soldier’s aura instantly made everyone around feel the pressure.

"I knew he was bad news. Serves him right!" Helen Qi smirked.

Grizzly quickly interjected: "He was invited by Second Brother Su—he didn’t sneak in."

"Who are you to get in my way?" Colonel Sean Chen snapped at Grizzly, his voice icy. "Second Brother Su? That guy hardly knows anyone decent. I’ll help out the Su family and teach this mystery kid a lesson—so he doesn’t mess up the birthday banquet!"

"Move!"

Colonel Sean Chen barked at Grizzly.

Grizzly shivered all over, hesitating as he stood there, uneasy and unsure.

"Let him through. I’m curious to see what kind of confidence makes him act so cocky."

A calm, youthful voice sounded from behind Grizzly.

Everyone watched as the boy on the sofa reached out, grabbed a piece of cake from the table, and popped it into his mouth—without even glancing at Colonel Sean Chen.

That was pure, blatant disregard!
