Fierce Battle with the Waterborn Spirit

2/14/2026

Evan Yang was startled. He truly couldn't see the person hiding in the shadows, but the other party knew exactly where he was—and could even control the water below him at will.

"Well? Hand over the Tri-Born Soul Trio and you can leave. Otherwise, you'll stay here with your souls and I'll turn you into a yin soul too." The voice cackled wickedly.

"Turn me into a yin soul? That depends if you have the strength!" Evan Yang snorted coldly. He never compromised with anyone, and he would never abandon the Tri-Born Soul Trio just to escape alone.

Who knew what the other party wanted the Tri-Born Soul Trio for—especially when the opponent didn't even show a shadow.

"You're quite arrogant, kid. But you'll pay for it—go die!" The voice laughed.

Suddenly, a column of water shot up beneath Evan Yang, and he dodged quickly.

Seeing Evan Yang's skill, the owner of the voice snorted, "Just learned a bit of surface technique and you think you're something? Get down here!"

As soon as the words fell, the surrounding water erupted, dragging Evan Yang from the air straight into the pool below.

It felt as if the water itself was alive. Evan Yang tried to break free but couldn't, and was forcibly dragged into the pool with a splash, sinking with the water.

Only his head remained above the surface, while the water below locked his body in place.

"Still so arrogant?" The owner of the voice sneered, seeing Evan Yang unable to move.

"If you've got real skill, come out and show yourself. Stop hiding in the shadows." Evan Yang snorted coldly.

"Even if I come out, you still can't see me. Whether I'm out or not doesn't make a difference." The voice laughed.

"Then I'll see how you plan to turn me into a yin soul," Evan Yang said.

"There are plenty of ways. For example, this water can kill you." The voice laughed.

"I'd like to see you try," Evan Yang retorted, unyielding.

"Even at death's door, you still talk tough. Let me taste your blood." As soon as the words left his mouth, a water-formed pillar shot up from the surface, aiming straight for Evan Yang's neck.

"Water?" Evan Yang exclaimed. With a single thought, his Ice-fire Sacred Flame appeared, instantly encasing his body in ice. Even the water pillar was chilled and transformed into a column of ice.

With a shout, Evan Yang shattered the ice column into fragments, breaking free from the ice around him with a powerful burst.

He rose up from the ice, his entire body freed.

The owner of the voice was clearly provoked, roaring in anger, "What technique is that?"

"Why should I tell you? If you've got guts, come out yourself." Evan Yang knew the Ice-fire Sacred Flame could counter the water and replied with a cold smile.

"So wicked! Don't think you're untouchable just because you're clever. Watch this." Not far away, the unfrozen water began to attack Evan Yang.

"Coming again? Watch this!" Evan Yang shouted, unleashing his Ice-fire Sacred Flame. Wherever the water touched him, it instantly froze.

"So that's how you can turn water to ice. Turns out you have something like a flame in your hand." Seeing the flame-like item, the owner of the voice grinned slyly.

"So what if I do?" Evan Yang replied.

"You really think you're invincible just because you have that? Let me show you what real power is." The voice snorted coldly.

Next, the frozen ice pillars began to float, all aiming straight at Evan Yang.

"Trying to attack me with ice?" Evan Yang punched a few times, but found that a single strike couldn't shatter them—it took several blows, and the impact was hard to bear.

"This is just a small part. Watch these." The voice cackled, and soon hundreds more ice pillars floated in the air.

"You're made of water?" Evan Yang was startled by the sight.

"What do you think?" The giant laughed heartily.

"You think that'll work against me?" Evan had his Sacred Flame and Ice-fire Sacred Flame, so no matter what form the water took, he felt no pressure at all.

"Let's see whose power is greater—your flame or mine!" The massive water giant roared with laughter.

The giant stood three people tall and two wide, its feet planted on the water so seamlessly that it was impossible to tell where the water ended and its body began.

The giant's hand reached out, aiming to slam down on Evan. Evan unleashed his Ice-fire Sacred Flame, clashing head-on with it.

The giant watched as its own hand slowly began to freeze over.

Unwilling to concede, it swung its other hand at Evan. Evan countered with Sacred Flame in his other hand—the flame sizzled even stronger when it touched the water, leaving Evan completely unharmed.

"Damn you! Die!" The giant water spirit bellowed, then opened its mouth and blasted a jet of water straight at Evan's head.

Seeing this, Evan quickly pulled back both hands and faced the water column head-on.

Both of them broke apart and retreated. Evan was perfectly fine, but the giant water spirit wasn't so lucky. One hand had frozen solid, while the other seemed about to dissolve, dripping water back into the pool.

"You—you piss me off!" the giant water spirit roared.

It tried to attack Evan again, but the result was the same. Not only that, Evan took the chance to freeze its entire body, leaving only its head active.

"I never expected you to be such a creature," Evan said with a grin.

"You—" The giant water spirit had never encountered someone as abnormal as Evan. Usually, it could play tricks and bully others without anyone figuring out its true nature.

If it hadn't gotten so furious and tried to grab Evan, it would have stayed hidden in the water, and no one would know if it was just water or the giant itself.

"Try running now!" Evan knew he had frozen everything around them, making escape nearly impossible for the giant water spirit.

The giant water spirit glared at Evan. "What do you want?"

"Nothing special. I just want to know what you are," Evan asked curiously.

"Me?" The giant water spirit was reluctant to answer, but finally said, "I'm the Waterborn Spirit formed from this pool."

"Waterborn Spirit?" Evan asked, skeptical.

"Yeah, this water isn't ordinary. It can reflect wandering souls. I only gained intelligence after countless years of settling here and became a Waterborn Spirit," the giant boasted.

"What's there to brag about, big guy? You're still stuck in my hands." Seeing him so smug, Evan knocked him on the head.

His head was made of water, so Evan's hand just sank right in. It didn't hurt, but the giant was annoyed. "Don't insult me like that."

"Alright, I won't insult you. Is there anyone else like you around here?" Evan asked, curious.

"Of course not! Do you think it's easy to form a Waterborn Spirit? I have no idea how many billions of years it took," the giant grumbled.

"You really are proud of yourself," Evan said with a helpless smile.

"I've told you everything you wanted to know. Now can you let me go?" the giant water spirit said, frustrated.

"Of course. I'm reasonable," Evan replied.

He released his Sacred Flame to slowly thaw the frozen giant, but something strange happened—the Sacred Flame burned even fiercer than before and lunged straight at the water giant.

Then he saw the Sacred Flame start absorbing the water from the giant water spirit's body.

"You tricked me!" The giant water spirit was furious when he saw the Sacred Flame absorbing his water.

"Uh, that's not what I meant—it's doing it on its own!" Evan protested, trying to control the Sacred Flame, but it simply ignored him.

The giant water spirit could only curse Evan out, while Evan was helpless—the Sacred Flame just wouldn't listen.

Eventually, the water spirit stopped cursing, its whole body collapsed, and it looked as if it had died.

"No way—was the Sacred Flame really that ruthless?" Evan was shocked to see the Sacred Flame finish off the giant water spirit.

By now, the Sacred Flame had swelled into a huge fireball. Hearing Evan's comment, it seemed annoyed and darted straight back into his Divine Spirit region.

Just as Evan was sighing over the water spirit's apparent demise, a sound came from his Divine Spirit.

"Huh?" Evan looked inside his Divine Spirit and was stunned to see the giant water spirit, now shrunken down, hanging out with the Sacred Flame.

"No way, this can't be happening." Seeing the water spirit brought into his Divine Spirit by the Sacred Flame, Evan was shocked. His core soul was now completely exposed to this entity, making it easy to get hurt.

The giant water spirit, apparently tempted by something, looked around and said, "Nice, nice. I like it here."

"Like what? This is my Divine Spirit! Get out!" Evan shouted.

The giant water spirit pleaded, "Come on, let me stay in your Divine Spirit."

"No way!" Evan snorted.

"Why are you so stingy?" the water spirit complained.

Seeing its greedy look, Evan said, "Fine, you can stay outside the Divine Spirit at most."

Hearing this, the water spirit was pushed out by Evan. Now, in the area just outside the Divine Spirit, the Ancient Tree Soul watched the strange water spirit curiously.

"What are you staring at? Haven't you ever seen a Waterborn Spirit before?" the water spirit grumbled.

"Relax. The outside's not so bad," the Ancient Tree Soul chuckled.

"What kind of kid is this? How come there are beings like you here?" the water spirit muttered.

"If you don't like it, you can leave," the Ancient Tree Soul said with a laugh.

"You're the one who doesn't like it! The spiritual energy here is great—I love it," the water spirit insisted shamelessly.
