Devil-Fiend Well

2/27/2026

Evan Yang looked shocked. This was so sudden, he could hardly believe it. He never expected the Fiend Realm used to belong to the Devil Realm. Why would the Devil Realm want a tiny Fiend Realm back? It’s like a drop in the ocean—dragging it back feels weird.

Seniors, what’s the Devil Realm’s goal here? Evan Yang asked curiously.

It’s mainly about the Devil-Fiend Underpalace," the hunchbacked elder explained.

"Devil-Fiend Underpalace?" Evan Yang was startled. He’d always wondered why this place was so mysterious. Hearing the Devil Realm’s motive, he looked surprised. "So that’s why." The Devil-Fiend Underpalace is a strange place—the Devil Realm uses it to train elite squads," the hunchbacked elder said.

Is it to deal with the Immortal Realm? Evan Yang asked, suspicious.

That’s one reason. The other, I still can’t predict. Looks like someone’s helping the Devil Realm block our foresight," the hunchbacked elder said.

Evan Yang nodded. "Looks like the Devil Realm wants the Fiend Realm back—not just to fight the Immortal Realm, but for some other reason. That’s pretty intriguing."

So, what brings you here this time? the hunchbacked elder asked, curious.

I came to find someone, but now it looks like I’ll have to rescue them instead, Evan Yang replied.

Rescue someone? That girl? the hunchbacked elder asked.

Yeah, you probably know where she is, right? The Devil-Fiend Well," Evan Yang said.

That's right, it's exactly there. That place is what's drawing the Fiend Realm back," the hunchbacked elder replied.

Drawing the Fiend Realm? The Devil Realm envoy must be there too, right? Evan Yang asked.

Yeah, you guessed it. Not just the Devil Realm envoy, but a bunch of Devil Realm experts are guarding the place. Their goal is to protect the Devil-Fiend Well, keep it from being attacked, and most importantly, stop word from reaching the Immortal Realm Alliance," the hunchbacked elder explained.

Evan Yang got it, but he still spoke up: "I have to go rescue her." "No way, it's way too dangerous. If you get close, you'll die," the hunchbacked elder warned. "Thanks for your concern, seniors, but this time, no matter what, I'm going. She's here because of me, and got caught because of me. If I just run away now after finding out, that's not what a real man does," Evan Yang said. "But..." The hunchbacked elder and the other three all looked worried. Youshuang and the others were anxious too, but they knew Evan Yang would definitely go—even if it meant dying. Otherwise, he wouldn't be the Evan Yang they knew.

No more buts. You all stay here, I'll go check it out," Evan Yang told Youshuang and the others. With them around, he'd have no time to watch out for everyone. This way, he could focus on the rescue.

Let us old geezers go with you," the hunchbacked elder offered after thinking it over.

Evan Yang shook his head. "No need, seniors. You stay here—this place needs you."

The four elders exchanged glances, but before they could say anything, Evan Yang asked, "Where's the Devil-Fiend Well?"

Seeing Evan Yang was determined, the hunchbacked elder finally said, "Alright, I'll tell you. But you have to be careful—no matter what, protect yourself first."

No matter what, I'm bringing her back," Evan Yang said. The hunchbacked elder, knowing Evan Yang was stubborn, finally gave him the location. After Evan got it, he told Youshuang and the others, "Stay here. I promise I'll bring her back."

Be careful," the three girls said. They all knew this might be the last time they saw Evan Yang. After all, he was facing Devil Realm experts. Even if they didn't know much about the Devil Realm, anyone who could go toe-to-toe with the Immortal Realm had to be formidable.

Evan Yang steadied himself, glanced at everyone, and said, "I'm heading out. You all take care." With that, he flashed away. Youshuang and the others watched, eyes red with emotion. He'd come and gone so fast, their feelings were all over the place.

The hunchbacked elder reassured everyone, "Don't worry, he'll be fine."

Really, senior? Youshuang asked, excited.

Yeah, he's not ordinary. He won't fall so easily," the hunchbacked elder replied.

That helped calm them down a bit. After Evan Yang disappeared, the Wine Beggar and Yang Min followed him. The Wine Beggar asked, "You're really going?"

You all saw what happened earlier, so no matter what, I'm going to rescue her," Evan Yang said.

Didn't expect you to be even more charming than your dad was back in the day," Yang Min joked, not worried about the danger at all.

Evan Yang gave an awkward laugh. "I'm saving her because she's my friend."

No need to explain, we get it. Since you're set on going, we'll go with you. Devil Realm envoys? I want to see what they're up to," Yang Min laughed.

The Wine Beggar nodded at Yang Min's words. "Yeah, I'm with you. Otherwise, you'd be less than a man."

Thanks, but you two stay sharp. We're dealing with Devil Realm envoys," Evan Yang said.

Don't worry. Devil Realm envoys are just for show. From what I know, when they come down, they're only at half their original strength," the Wine Beggar explained. "Is that because they're away from the Devil Realm?" Evan Yang asked. "Not exactly. There's a rule between the Immortal Realm and Devil Realm: unless the gates are open, anyone crossing over only gets half their strength. Same goes for Immortal Realm folks heading to the Devil Realm. That's why the big shots—like Emperors—are scared to go in person. They could get killed," the Wine Beggar said.

Evan Yang frowned. "But this is the Fiend Realm, not the Immortal Realm." "You're wrong. This whole dimension is just a minor plane under the Immortal Realm," the Wine Beggar replied.

Really? Evan Yang was shocked.

Yep, that's how it works. Otherwise, how could Immortal Realm folks come down here without losing their strength?" the Wine Beggar said.

No wonder. That's good news. If they're only half as strong, even a Devil Emperor is just about as tough as our third or fourth-tier Immortal Emperors. With you two around, handling them should be easy," Evan Yang said.

Exactly," the Wine Beggar grinned.

Yang Min laughed too. "Let's go. We'll back you up when the time comes."

Thanks. Let's move," Evan Yang said. The three of them flew quickly toward their destination. As they got close, Evan realized they'd soon enter the enemy's divine sense zone. He said, "I should go in invisible first, get a read on the situation, then come back for you two."

Be careful," Yang Min said.

Evan Yang nodded. With reminders from the Wine Beggar and Yang Min, he vanished, cloaked in invisibility.

That kid's got tricks for everything," the Wine Beggar muttered.

Yeah, that's how he beat the Immortal Emperor," Yang Min laughed. "As long as nothing unexpected happens, even if the Devil Realm envoys try to catch him, he'll find a way out," the Wine Beggar said.

Yang Min nodded. The two felt pretty confident about Evan Yang's chances, and got ready just in case.

After flying for a while, Evan Yang spotted a huge pillar of light ahead, connecting the top and bottom of the Fiend Realm. The pillar was at least a mile wide. "That big?"

He also saw dozens of Devil Realm experts guarding the area, making sure nobody could get in. Evan Yang was here to check things out and see if he could find any trace of Ye Chen.

Inside the pillar was nothing but massive energy. The dozens of guards outside seemed pretty ordinary, eyes shut tight, not acting strange at all. Evan Yang was curious where they'd be holding Ye Chen.

Evan Yang decided to search around. In a dark spot, he finally found a spinning artifact—like a bowl, rotating with an opening at the bottom, almost like a bowl missing a chunk.

This must be it, Evan Yang thought. He jumped to the entrance, but since the artifact was spinning, the opening quickly moved to the other side. He tried to follow, but it was too fast. He waited, noticed the opening came around every five breaths, and realized he'd have to be lightning-fast to get inside.

Faced with this, Evan Yang got ready. When the opening appeared again, he leapt in.

Inside, Evan Yang patted his chest. "That was close."

He looked around. It was a whole space, with all kinds of living supplies and even a loft. From the loft, a terrifying aura radiated. "That must be the artifact's owner," Evan Yang muttered, then started searching for Ye Chen.

He found Ye Chen sitting by a window in one room, looking helplessly around, like she was waiting for something.

Seeing Ye Chen safe, Evan Yang was overjoyed. He rushed over, but knew showing himself would cause trouble, so he sent a voice transmission: "Don't make a sound."

Ye Chen was spacing out, but suddenly heard the voice and was shocked. She looked out the window suspiciously but couldn't see anyone.

It's me, Evan Yang. I'm hiding, so you won't find me," Evan Yang said.

Hearing it was Evan Yang, Ye Chen couldn't contain her excitement, even if he was hidden. She was thrilled he had come to rescue her. But the person in the loft opened his eyes and flashed to the window.

Seeing that person, Ye Chen was startled and quickly calmed herself.

Why were you so excited just now? the man asked.

Nothing," Ye Chen replied.

Impossible. Do I need to force it out of you? the man said, suspicious.

I said it's nothing—what will it take for you to believe me? Ye Chen said angrily.

Getting excited for no reason? You really think I can't tell? Fine, I'll teach you a lesson and see if you'll talk then," the man snorted.
