Cecilia Gu had never really understood Charles Yin's status within the Yin Family.
But today, Cecilia finally got a real taste of it.
To her surprise, Charles actually took her straight to a room filled with all kinds of rare collectibles.
Many of them were priceless antiques.
It was obvious just how vast the Yin Family's collection really was.
And this was only Grandma Yin’s private collection!
Grandma Yin’s assistant spoke to Cecilia with great respect: “Mrs. Yin, these are all gifts from Grandma for the Second Young Master. She said that since you married into the Yin Family, she hasn’t had the chance to give you anything, so this time you get to choose first. Whatever’s left will go to the Second Young Master.”
Cecilia quickly glanced at Charles.
Charles gently squeezed Cecilia’s palm, silently giving her his support.
Cecilia smiled and nodded at Grandma Yin’s assistant, saying, “Since it’s Grandma’s order, I won’t be shy, then. Xiao Wang..."
Wendy immediately stepped forward.
Cecilia smiled and said, "Make sure you get a car ready for moving everything later!"
Wendy quickly replied with a smile, "Yes, Mrs. Yin."
Cecilia glanced mischievously at Charles.
How could she possibly tell which things were valuable and which weren’t?
Whenever Cecilia picked something up, Charles would squeeze her hand a little harder—she knew that meant it was a good one, so she’d hand it right to Wendy.
If it wasn’t valuable or a limited edition, Charles would just look indifferent.
So Cecilia would just put it back and leave it.
After one round, Grandma Yin’s assistant’s smile was practically frozen on her face!
Every single thing Cecilia picked was a genuine treasure—she didn’t choose anything worth less than a million!
But hey, it was Grandma Yin who said Cecilia could choose first, right?
She never said how many things Cecilia could pick, so of course she went all out!
When Grandma Yin’s assistant reported all this to Grandma Yin, Mrs. Yin happened to be there too.
After listening to the report, Grandma Yin glanced at her daughter-in-law. "Are you relieved now? Satisfied?"
Mrs. Yin’s eyes were full of satisfaction, just as expected.
Finally, Cecilia had done something as a daughter-in-law that actually made her feel vindicated!
“Mom, I don’t object to holding a birthday party for Ethan Yin, but I’m not dead yet! Why is May Yan allowed to come in?" Mrs. Yin was still aggressive. "Back then, if you hadn’t sheltered and favored her, would things have ended up like this? When the Yin Family came to the Jiang Family to propose, what promises did they make to my parents? Mom! I know you’ve hated me all these years, but what about me? Who should I hate? I was the Jiang Family’s eldest daughter, raised in luxury—who did I ever offend? If Yin Hao already had someone he loved, why did he come to my family to ask for my hand? Was I really so desperate to get married that the Yin Family had to do charity?”
“Mom, just think—if you’d taken my side back then and kicked May Yan and Ethan Yin out, would I ever have wanted to go down with Yin Hao? I was the proud eldest daughter of the Jiang Family, and now look at me—neither human nor ghost! Are you really okay with that?” Mrs. Yin’s real name was Vivian Jiang, a name she rarely mentioned, and every time she did, she’d lose her temper.
Grandma Yin sighed. "That’s why I’ve let you do whatever you want to Ethan Yin all these years! You kept finding people to lead him astray because you were afraid he’d take Charles’s place, weren’t you?"
“Isn’t that how it should be? As an illegitimate child, he should act like one! He just needs to be a playboy, and shouldn’t even think about running the Yin Family!” Mrs. Yin’s voice turned cold. “If you want Ethan Yin on the board, forget it! Even if you let Cecilia Gu join, I still won’t agree to Ethan Yin joining! If he dares, I’ll buy up his shares at any price!”
Grandma Yin stared at Mrs. Yin for a long time, forcing down the storm in her eyes.
Mrs. Yin took a breath and said, "Mom, you’ve already talked to Charles about this, right? I trust Charles feels the same way I do. Now Charles has controlling shares, and with the stocks held by me and Cecilia Gu, we already have three votes! If you’re not satisfied, you can always call a board meeting and put it to a vote!"
"Fine, fine," Grandma Yin suddenly sighed. "I’m old, I can’t manage all this anymore. Do whatever you want!"
Ethan Yin’s return to the Yin Family was the biggest event Newport City had ever seen.
People from the city, the province, even the whole country were watching every move here.
Everyone wondered what the sudden return of the Yin Family’s Second Son meant—was it going to change the whole structure of Yin Enterprises?
But what shocked everyone was that the one entering the board wasn’t the Second Son—it was the always low-key Mrs. Yin.
People all over the country started speculating about Mrs. Yin’s identity and status.
But to this day, nobody really knows for sure.
Anyone who goes online knows that the Yin Family’s eldest son retweets Mrs. Yin’s posts every single day.
But Mrs. Yin has never followed her own husband’s account.
She’s always posting food pics on her own feed, totally ignoring the husband who keeps retweeting her.
Naturally, Mrs. Yin has become the target of a lot of envy and resentment.
Now, out of nowhere, Mrs. Yin lands a spot on the board and holds five percent of Yin Enterprises’ shares.
Suddenly, Mrs. Yin became the most envied and most hated woman in the country.
Cecilia Gu couldn’t understand why so many people followed her social media every day.
It’s not like she’d ever done anything truly evil, right?
Why did so many people pay attention to her? And send her so many private messages?
But Cecilia didn’t have time to read all those messages, so she just blocked them all.

On the morning of Ethan Yin’s birthday, Cecilia Gu got up early to prepare.
As the eldest sister-in-law, she ranked third among the female heads of the Yin Family.
So naturally, Cecilia joined Mrs. Yin to greet the guests.
That day, not only did all the main branch Yin Family members show up, but even the collateral relatives came.
Mrs. Yin introduced Cecilia one by one: "This is your second uncle and aunt, this is your third uncle and aunt, and their children..."
Cecilia greeted everyone politely.
None of these people had shown up for her wedding.
It was clear just how shabby and rushed her wedding had been.
In other words, these uncles and aunts hadn’t thought much of Cecilia, so they only sent gifts and never came in person.
But now, they didn’t dare look down on Cecilia anymore.
None of them were qualified to join the board, but Cecilia was.
When Cecilia greeted them, they hurried to respond.
Mrs. Yin sneered, "Such opportunists. These are all descendants of your grandfather’s brothers, so strictly speaking, they’re your elders. But in terms of status, you’re a board member—they’re just employees of Yin Enterprises."
Cecilia nodded silently.
Mrs. Yin had always been domineering—and she didn’t hide it.
She’d used tough tactics since she was young, and she still did.
Cecilia could sort of understand now why, as soon as Mrs. Yin returned, she’d forced her to break up with Charles and shoved Sylvia Ran at him.
That’s just the kind of person she was.
Cecilia used to think Grandma Yin was tough, but now she realized her mother-in-law was even tougher.
But, as Charles Yin had said, Mrs. Yin had every reason to be that way.
After all, the Jiang Family’s roots ran deep and its branches were many.
That’s why Grandma Yin wanted Ethan Yin to return, but still had to discuss it with Charles Yin.
If Grandma Yin ignored Charles’s wishes and forced Ethan Yin’s return, it would be a slap in the face to the Jiang Family.
Sure enough, after greeting the Yin Family’s collateral relatives, the next arrivals were members of the Jiang Family.
Ethan Yin’s birthday banquet even included invitations to the Jiang Family.
Naturally, the elders of the Jiang Family didn’t come, but a couple of the younger generation did.
"Auntie!" A lively girl in a lotus-pink coat bounced over, followed by a tall, handsome young man.
"You’re here," Mrs. Yin finally smiled.
Both the young man and woman were children of Mrs. Yin’s elder brother.
The young man was Eric Jiang, the young woman was Helen Jiang.
"Auntie, long time no see," Eric Jiang greeted, but his gaze landed on Cecilia Gu.
"This must be my new cousin-in-law?" Eric Jiang looked steadily at Cecilia. "Seeing is believing."
Cecilia greeted them politely, "Cousin, cousin, I’ve heard so much about you but never had the chance to meet. I’ve always heard my cousin from the Jiang Family is talented, and my cousin is beautiful and lively. Today I finally get to meet you both, and you’re even better than the rumors!"
Helen Jiang shot Cecilia a hostile look and rolled her eyes. "You sure know how to talk."
Mrs. Yin ignored her niece and nephew’s hostility, patted Helen’s hand and said, "Come inside, it’s cold out. Look at you, wearing so little."
"Okay, we’ll go in first," Helen replied happily.
Eric Jiang gave Cecilia a long look, saw nothing unusual in her expression, and walked in, still puzzled.
Cecilia didn’t care about their hostility.
After all, they weren’t part of the Yin Family, so it didn’t matter to her.
On the Jiang Family side, Charles Yin was there to handle things—she didn’t have to deal with the pressure.
Her mother-in-law didn’t like her, so how could she expect her mother-in-law’s family to like her?
The star of the day, Ethan Yin, started getting ready first thing in the morning.
He spent hours getting ready before finally making his grand entrance.
Grandma Yin took Ethan Yin’s hand and led him to the center. She cleared her throat and announced, "Today is Ethan’s first official return to the Yin Family, and it’s also his twenty-fifth birthday. Everyone here is a longtime friend of our family, so please—eat, drink, and enjoy yourselves!"
