Silverback Gorilla and Brown Bear

"That's the wolverine?"

"You gotta be kidding me. That tiny thing? They're actually putting it in the Beast Arena? Isn't that just sending it to its death?"

"Last round, the lynx was at least decently matched against the liger, even if it was smaller. But what's this wolverine supposed to be?"

In the stands, a lot of people turned their eyes toward another cage.

Inside that iron cage was a small figure.

At first glance, it looked like a tiny wolf, curled up in the corner. Its limbs weren't thick at all, its body less than half a meter long, and it couldn't have weighed more than ten kilos—really scrawny.

"How's something like that supposed to fight the North American Gray Wolf? It's way too small."

"Even if the North American Gray Wolf just stood there and let it bite, could it actually kill the wolf? It's way too tiny. Its teeth probably aren't even strong enough to bite through the wolf's neck."

Seeing the wolverine in the cage, plenty of people shook their heads.

The wolverine crouched at the cage door, poking its head out, baring its teeth at the North American Gray Wolf in the distance. It looked impatient, like it couldn't wait to charge out and fight the wolf.

The North American Gray Wolf's eyes glinted with a cold, predatory light. It had been starved for a whole day, and now, looking at the wolverine, it saw nothing but its next meal.

"Alright, everyone—place your bets."

After waiting a moment, Luke Lu finally spoke up.

"You have to bet on the North American Gray Wolf for this one. Just look at the size difference—there's no way it loses!" Chester Zhang grinned and put ten points down.

"There's no way anything weird happens this round. It's obvious—the North American Gray Wolf wins. That wolverine's just acting dumb, so eager to get out of the cage. It's got a death wish."

Most people glanced at the wolverine and shook their heads, clearly not optimistic about its chances.

"Your Excellency, what are you betting this time?" Shawn Shi looked at Evan Lin. He only had ten points left and was hesitating.

If he lost, he'd be out.

"Sixty points. Wolverine."

Evan Lin replied coolly.

"Hey, why do you always bet on the side nobody thinks will win?" Yvonne Zhu frowned at Evan Lin.

Evan didn't even glance at Yvonne, completely ignoring her. That just made Yvonne even more annoyed with him.

"Uncle Gu, how should we bet? Should we go with the North American Gray Wolf?"

Yvonne asked Bryce Gu beside her.

"Wolverine. Twenty points."

Bryce Gu's answer made Yvonne pause for a moment—she hadn't expected him to pick the same as Evan Lin.

After some hesitation, Shawn Shi and Tony Dong finally gritted their teeth and bet on the wolverine along with Evan.

"Bets are locked. Now, open the cages!"

Luke Lu spoke coolly.

The iron cages in the arena were opened.

As soon as the cages were opened, the North American Gray Wolf lunged ferociously at the wolverine. Its powerful hind legs kicked off the ground, covering two meters in a single stride.

"Damn, that's fast!"

"Looks like the North American Gray Wolf's got this in the bag. With that speed, how could the wolverine possibly fight back? You guys actually bet on the wolverine—are you nuts?" Chester Zhang gloated at Shawn Shi, whose face had gone pale. "Last time you lost a million, didn't you have to sell your house to cover it? Looks like you're about to lose everything again."

Chester Zhang was feeling smug.

But then—

"Holy crap, how is that thing so fast!"

Someone in the crowd cried out in shock.

Chester Zhang's heart skipped a beat as he turned to look at the arena.

The North American Gray Wolf was fast, but the scrawny wolverine was even faster.

Its four thin legs drummed the ground at a crazy pace—everyone could only see streaks of blurred shadows whipping by.
