Lisa Li Goes on a Blind Date

1/4/2026

Mia Dou smiled warmly and said, "We’re comrades who’ve fought side by side, so don’t be so formal. You just moved in today, you must be exhausted. I won’t keep you from resting. If you need anything, just ask. Coco and I are both in N City, we’re always free to help."

"Alright." Julia Yu turned, took two packs of premium tea from the drawer, and handed them to Mia Dou. "Take one for Coco. This was specially made by the Grant Family, you can’t buy it anywhere else."

Mia Dou happily accepted the tea, waved goodbye to Julia Yu, and left.

After Mia Dou left, Lisa Li came out and said sarcastically, "Even if you’re a total bootlicker, you’ll never get into Yin Enterprises."

"Don’t be so sure," Julia Yu crossed her arms and looked at Lisa Li. "If I ever lose my job with Mr. Mo, I can always get a position on the legal team at Yin Enterprises. Can you?"

Lisa Li stomped her foot!

She’s using that to attack her again!

Isn’t it just because she doesn’t have any work experience?

If she ever had a job...

Forget it, that kind of salary isn’t even worth her attention.

Lisa Li snorted and headed out the door.

Julia Yu reminded her, "Tomorrow at noon you have a blind date with Andrew Li from Rockstone Tires. Don’t be late! If you are, I’ll report it to Mr. Mo!"

Lisa Li slammed the door in response to Julia Yu’s reminder.

Julia Yu shook her head speechlessly, turned back to her room, and continued unpacking.

The next day at noon, Lisa Li obediently went with Julia Yu to the blind date.

Before leaving, Julia Yu checked Lisa Li’s makeup and outfit. Once she was sure everything was fine, she drove Lisa Li to the restaurant.

As soon as they walked in, they saw Andrew Li from Rockstone Tires waiting at the door in a British-style suit.

"Sorry we’re late," Julia Yu greeted politely.

"Not at all, I just arrived myself. Miss Lisa Li, nice to meet you." Andrew Li greeted politely.

Julia Yu quickly tried to play matchmaker, "See, you both have the surname Li. That’s real fate, isn’t it?"

Andrew Li chuckled, "Yes, Li is a common surname. There are more Lis than any other in the country."

Lisa Li snorted, not hiding her indifference. "I could never reach your level."

Andrew Li just smiled and said to Julia Yu, "I’ve already reserved a table. This way, please."

"Alright." Julia Yu gently nudged Lisa Li from behind, and Lisa Li reluctantly followed them in.

Andrew Li chose a table near the back, a spot that wouldn’t attract attention and was good for conversation.

Julia Yu checked the time. She’d planned to leave early, but seeing how things were going, she knew Lisa Li would cause trouble if left alone, so she stayed to supervise.

Andrew Li could tell Lisa Li wasn’t interested in him, so he didn’t try too hard and turned to Julia Yu. "Miss Yu, what would you like to eat?"

"Anything’s fine for me," Julia Yu replied with a smile. "I’m not picky. As for Lisa Li, she doesn’t eat cilantro or chives."

"Alright, I’ll go ahead and order then." Andrew Li immediately called for the waiter and ordered some house specialties.

"What are you working on these days, Andrew Li?" Lisa Li asked bluntly. "I heard your family business is only being inherited by your eldest brother?"

"That’s right," Andrew Li answered calmly, not seeing any reason to hide it. "Our company will be inherited by my eldest brother. My second brother and I either start our own businesses or take some family shares—we don’t have to run the company, just collect dividends. Actually, my second brother is starting his own business. He loves making games, so he and some friends started a gaming company. The game 'Divine Retribution' that just launched is their work. As for me, I prefer theory. I’m planning to pursue a PhD in Law at the University of Pennsylvania. By the way, I heard Miss Yu is also a lawyer. Maybe we’ll be colleagues someday."

Julia Yu replied quickly, "No comparison, no comparison! University of Pennsylvania is a dream for me, but I never had the courage to apply."

"Miss Yu, you shouldn’t underestimate yourself. I’ve read some of the cases you handled—they were brilliant. I even showed a few to my advisor, and he said you have real talent and a great grasp of detail. You’re made for this profession." Andrew Li said sincerely, "My personal advice is: don’t waste such talent. I hope one day I’ll see you at Penn."

"If I ever get the chance, I’ll work hard to apply," Julia Yu answered seriously.

They shared a smile after that.

Lisa Li sat on the side, feeling a little sour inside.

She didn’t care for Andrew Li, but why was he talking endlessly with Julia Yu and ignoring her?

Who was he supposed to be dating, anyway?

Julia Yu knew this wasn’t the time for too much talking, so once the food arrived, she just ate quietly and didn’t try to keep the conversation going.

Andrew Li chatted about law, and Julia Yu mostly just listened, rarely commenting.

Andrew Li was sharp—he quickly picked up on Julia Yu’s signals and started talking to Lisa Li instead.

But Lisa Li was just a pretty face—her college major was languages, and she wasn’t even that good at it.

Andrew Li honestly didn’t know what to talk about with a woman like her, so the meal passed in silence.

After the meal, Andrew Li very politely saw them out. Lisa Li didn’t even look back, just got straight into the car.

Julia Yu apologized to Andrew Li, "Sorry about today’s situation..."

"I understand."

Andrew Li could see Julia Yu’s helplessness.

Julia Yu’s position in the Mo Consortium was clear to everyone.

Her abilities were widely recognized.

So Andrew Li understood that Lisa Li’s behavior was only making things hard for Julia Yu.

Andrew Li actually felt a little sorry for Julia Yu.

"I’ll say it again, I’ll be waiting for you at Penn." Andrew Li took the initiative to shake hands with Julia Yu. "I look forward to being classmates."

Julia Yu shook his hand graciously. "I’ll try my best."

After they parted ways, Julia Yu turned and got in the car.

As soon as she got in, Lisa Li said sourly, "Hey, I’m the one on the blind date. Why were you chatting with him so happily?"

"Then why didn’t you chat with him?" Julia Yu fastened her seatbelt. "I’d love not to say a word."

Lisa Li snorted.

Julia Yu continued, "If you actually liked him, I’d go report it to Mr. Mo right now."

"No way!" Lisa Li shrieked. "He’s so ugly, how could he ever be good enough for me?"

Julia Yu looked at her speechlessly. "I really don’t know where you get the confidence to call him ugly. Andrew Li may not be as refined as Mr. Mo, but he’s not nearly as bad as you say. Besides, he’s a PhD student at Penn—his family background and education are impressive, he’s got real presence."

"You like him? Then go chase him yourself." Lisa Li rolled her eyes.

"Thanks for caring about my love life," Julia Yu replied bluntly. "But honestly, a good man like him is out of my league. Since you don’t like him either, I’m actually happy for him—he deserves a better girl."

Lisa Li was so mad she couldn’t even speak.

Julia Yu drove off.

"Hey, where are we going next?" Lisa Li noticed Julia Yu wasn’t heading home and couldn’t help asking, "Where are you taking me?"

"Round two of matchmaking," Julia Yu said coolly. "There are five matchmaking events today. You’ll be busy—one person every two hours. If you’re not satisfied with these, I’ll adjust the list and find you some different styles."

Lisa Li’s face twisted in frustration, but she was truly powerless against Julia Yu.

Julia Yu always found a way to handle her.

A woman like her deserves to stay single, hmph!

While Julia Yu was dragging Lisa Li to matchmaking events, she also had to juggle all sorts of company matters.

Luckily, Julia Yu was highly capable, and thanks to Cici Grant’s prior arrangements, no local organizations dared to give Julia Yu trouble. Plus, this company was just a small enterprise under Max Mo’s name, so no one would be foolish enough to cause problems.

So Julia Yu smoothly organized health checks for all new hires, arranged their jobs and dorms, and oversaw the construction of the staff cafeteria. Training sessions were running at full steam.

Julia Yu’s abilities were once again on display.

Many people saw what this woman was capable of—and how tough she was.

Quite a few regretted that Julia Yu’s background wasn’t a bit higher—otherwise, she’d make the perfect wife.

And those from smaller families knew she was out of their league and wouldn’t dare hope.

Julia Yu was completely unaware of all this—she was busy every day, running nonstop.

Finally, Max Mo arrived from Y Province.

With Max Mo as the pillar, Julia Yu felt the burden on her shoulders lighten instantly and could focus on taking Lisa Li to matchmaking.

During this time, Lisa Li went on over thirty blind dates, but not a single one worked out.

It wasn’t just about whether Lisa Li liked the candidates—most of them weren’t happy with her either.

Think about it: those from good families wouldn’t want to bring home someone like her.

Those from lesser backgrounds hoping to marry into the Mo family—Lisa Li wouldn’t give them the time of day.

So in the end, she got nothing.

Julia Yu found the whole thing headache-inducing.

After Julia Yu reported everything, even Max Mo felt a bit of a headache.

He’d figured Lisa Li’s marriage wouldn’t be easy, but he hadn’t expected it to be this troublesome.

But this only made Max Mo more determined to get Lisa Li married off.

As long as he kept an eye on things and Lisa Li didn’t cause any trouble, she’d have a comfortable life for sure.

A knock sounded at the door. "Mr. Mo, Miss Xue is here to see you."

Julia Yu immediately said, "Xue Xue is here? I’ll head out then."

Max Mo raised a hand. "No need, you can listen in too."

"Alright." Julia Yu guessed what Xue Xue wanted to say, so she stood aside and watched as Xue Xue burst in.
