"Hmm."

Andrew Han leaned back in his chair, quietly lost in thought.

The memory was hazy and strained, but he was fairly sure it was Linhaven City. As for which high school she attended, maybe seeing a list of names would jog his memory.

With that in mind,

he called Carter Yan to ask if he knew Linhaven City's Guardian.

He knew he couldn't uncover everything on his own—he would need some real connections.

"Linhaven City?"

Carter Yan chuckled, "Linhaven City's Guardian is Zane Zhou; we're well acquainted. If you're heading to Linhaven, just go straight to him."

"Is he a Martial Lord?" Andrew asked, a trace of doubt in his voice.

His own master was the Guardian of Riverford—a Martial Lord.

Both Linhaven and Riverford were prefecture-level cities; he assumed their Guardians would be strong. Was Zane Zhou really close to Carter Yan?

He kept that thought to himself.

Carter Yan's light laughter came through the phone: "Prefecture-level cities differ in prosperity. Linhaven isn't especially developed, and its population is small, so its Guardian, Zane Zhou, is a high-tier Martial General."

"Alright."

Andrew nodded.

The gap between Martial Lord and Martial General was vast—as far apart as heaven and earth.

A moment later,

he received Zane Zhou's phone number from Carter Yan on WeChat. Andrew glanced at it, pulled on his jacket, and stepped out of the dormitory.

He'd arranged to have lunch with Monica Zhang.

Whatever his past-life memories held, he only trusted what he saw in this life, only accepted what he experienced now.

...

At the edge of the tree-lined campus road.

The gentle sound of water flowing.

The campus road was designed with a certain elegance; along its edge ran a small canal, and across it stood the four-story canteen.

Suddenly—

Monica Zhang’s crisp voice reached his ears: “Andrew, how long have you been waiting?”

“Not long.”

Andrew turned his head, blinking.

In the afternoon sunlight, Monica wore a cream-colored tracksuit; her features were delicate and lively, like a little deer bounding over, cheerful and light, stopping before him.

Hmm.

A flicker of doubt passed through Andrew’s eyes, then vanished. He strode forward to meet Monica. “Don’t tell me you just woke up?”

“No classes today,” Monica replied, dodging the question.

“Alright, you really can sleep.” Andrew caught her meaning and shook his head. “You slept the whole morning?”

Monica pursed her lips and explained, “Hey, a girl’s sleep is important. This is beauty sleep.”

Beauty sleep?

Andrew couldn’t help but be surprised. “Isn’t beauty sleep supposed to be from ten at night to two in the morning? Anyway, I think you’re already beautiful—you don’t need any more beauty sleep.”

At the first half, Monica stared, cat-like—he’s this knowledgeable?

At the second half, Monica’s heart gave a little tremor—he actually knows how to praise someone?

Wow.

This really was something special.
