Couple’s Jade Pendants, Skyvault Young Lord Arrives

2/14/2026

Going out to run free clinics isn’t as simple as just setting up a stall—there’s a ton of prep work to do beforehand, and you need helpers to decoct and distribute medicine. Serena Feng can’t do it all alone.

Back in her previous life, Serena had gone out to do free clinics in the countryside, but those were all political assignments, arranged from above—she just had to show up. This time, she has to handle everything herself, and she’s not good at it, so she brought in Simon Sun.

The moment Simon heard Serena was planning free clinics, he immediately volunteered to help. When he found out Serena didn’t know how to organize everything, he jumped at the chance to take charge, promising to handle all the logistics so she could just focus on treating patients.

All that’s easy enough—the real headache is the medicine. You can’t just diagnose people at a free clinic, you have to give them medicine too. And the amount needed is massive; they simply don’t have enough stock.

Serena took Simon to her cabin. Simon was genuinely shocked by the medicine she had—but...

Compared to the number of disaster victims, this little bit of medicine was a drop in the bucket. Besides, not everyone could use Serena’s Western drugs—they’d need a supply of traditional herbs too.

Serena didn’t have any of those. She’d trained as a Western doctor, and her Smart Med-Pack was completely lacking in Chinese medicine. So what now, with no herbs?

But Serena hadn’t forgotten—she knew the top medicine dealer in the Nine Provinces: Victor Yun.

“The Yun family. We’ll go to Victor Yun. We need to renegotiate his case anyway. I may not want to do open-skull surgery, but since it’s Victor Yun, worst case, I’ll take herbs as payment for the operation.”

Serena was all action—never mind that it was nighttime, she wrote out an invitation and sent someone to deliver it to the Yun family, just waiting for Victor Yun to show up the next day.

"Sir, I don't know you." Meeting for the first time and getting stared at so intensely—she was bound to misunderstand. Serena Feng felt uncomfortable and spoke up to remind him.

"Miss Feng, I apologize for my rudeness." Sean Xuan was snapped out of his daze by Serena's interruption and immediately withdrew his burning gaze. But he couldn't help himself—he kept sneaking glances at her from the corner of his eye, as if he could never get enough.

Serena felt a chill run down her spine. If not for the jade pendant in his hand, she honestly would have thrown him out—this guy was just too strange.

Thankfully, Sean Xuan, though distracted, hadn’t forgotten his manners. After a long pause, he finally remembered to introduce himself: "Miss Feng, my surname is Xuan, my given name is Shaoqi."

"Xuan Shaoqi? What's your relationship with Sienna Xuan?" Serena was so shocked she nearly smashed her teacup.

Seriously, with that look in his eyes, she’d thought he was an old acquaintance—turns out he was an enemy instead. The surname Xuan was rare; the only ones she knew were from the Skyvault Palace clan.

If this Xuan Shaoqi at her door had nothing to do with Sienna Xuan, Serena would eat her own words.

"I have nothing to do with her." At the mention of Sienna, a flash of disgust crossed Sean Xuan’s eyes—he clearly didn’t like her at all.

"Nothing to do with her? Then what's your connection to Skyvault Palace? Why did you come looking for me?" Serena kept her smile, but she wasn’t buying it—no way someone from Skyvault Palace had nothing to do with Sienna.

"I truly have nothing to do with Sienna Xuan." Sean Xuan emphasized again, not trying to deceive Serena—he’d never considered Sienna his sister. But he couldn’t deny his ties to Skyvault Palace: "I am the Young Palace Lord of Skyvault Palace Sect."

"So you’re the Young Palace Lord. Forgive me for not showing proper respect," Serena said politely, but she didn’t budge an inch from her seat.

"If you’re the Young Palace Lord of Skyvault, how could you possibly have nothing to do with Sienna Xuan? If I’m not mistaken, she’s the eldest miss of Skyvault Palace. How could you two not be connected?" Serena’s words dripped with sarcasm. She wasn’t gossiping—she just wanted answers.

His identity made her extra cautious. Never mind Skyvault Palace—the jade pendant alone was enough to put her on alert.

This jade pendant had shown up at exactly the right moment. If Sean Xuan had produced it earlier, she wouldn’t have recognized it. He’d come at just the right time, right after she inherited her mother’s pendant—Serena couldn’t help but be suspicious.

It was obvious Sean Xuan was here for the jade. As for Sienna Xuan?

He really didn’t seem to care about Sienna—the disgust on his face when he mentioned her couldn’t be faked.

If Sean Xuan knew what Serena was thinking, he’d be banging his head against the wall. It really was just a coincidence—he knew nothing about the Feng family’s affairs, and only recently learned of Serena’s existence.

If it hadn’t been for the heavy snow blocking the roads, he would have come much earlier—no way he’d have waited until now. Serena’s suspicion was unfortunate, but Sean Xuan had no idea about the twists in her mind, nor that her parents’ remains had just returned to the manor. When she asked, he began to explain.

"Sienna is the daughter of my father’s second wife. She has nothing to do with me, and her life or death is none of my concern." That was the truth—Sean Xuan had never acknowledged Sienna as his sister, and her fate had nothing to do with him. He wasn’t here because of her.

Unfortunately, Serena didn’t believe him. She’d been schemed against too many times—she didn’t trust anyone, especially someone with the surname Xuan. She still remembered how Sienna’s second brother had doted on her.

But Sean Xuan didn’t seem like he was lying, so she probed: "So, Young Palace Lord, you’re not here to avenge Sienna Xuan?"

Serena didn’t believe anyone from Skyvault Palace would come just to reminisce. She had a history with them, but their grudge was even deeper—she’d injured their precious princess. No matter how close she’d been to Skyvault Palace, it wouldn’t matter now.

After learning his identity, Serena was on high alert—her hand quietly moved to her hidden handgun. If he made any sudden moves, she’d react instantly.

"Avenge her? Sienna Xuan’s fate has nothing to do with me. If I wanted revenge, I wouldn’t have come alone. Miss Feng, you’re overthinking." Sean Xuan gave her a long look, sensed her discomfort, and silently looked away.

There would be plenty of chances in the future—no need to rush now and scare her off.

"Then, why are you here, Mr. Xuan? If not for revenge, did you really come just to reminisce?"

"For you. I came for you." People in the martial world spoke bluntly. If he hadn’t worried about scaring Serena, Sean Xuan would have said it from the start.

"For me? What could possibly be worth the Young Palace Lord trekking through snow from Skyvault Palace?" Suddenly, the jade pendant in her hand felt heavy—Sean Xuan was definitely trouble, and Serena had the urge to throw him out.

She regretted agreeing to see him.

"Of course you’re worth it, Miss Feng. Do you recognize this jade pendant?" Sean Xuan pointed to the piece Serena was holding—it was his.

"I do." If she hadn’t recognized it, she wouldn’t have agreed to see him. He hadn’t even given his name—just showed up with a jade pendant.

"You also have one just like it, don’t you?"

"I do, but that one belonged to my mother." Serena leaned back slightly—a posture she only adopted when on guard. This man was dangerous; better to keep some distance.

"That’s right. Years ago, this jade was given to Aunt Mo." Sean Xuan’s gaze burned with excitement as he mentioned her. Serena vaguely guessed who he meant, but still asked, "Aunt Mo?"

Seriously? He was close enough to call her mother Aunt Mo—what did that mean for the jade pendant...

Serena glanced down at the jade, wondering if smashing it now would be enough to break the connection.

"Aunt Mo is your mother. I called her that when I was a child. The jade pendant you’re holding is called the Couple’s Jade—two matching pieces, one large and one small. Separate, they’re two stones; together, they become one. If you don’t believe me, take out your mother’s piece and try it."

"Impossible." Serena checked—her jade had no seam. How could they fit together?

"If you don’t believe me, try it and see." Sean Xuan wasn’t worried—he’d played with the two jades as a child. He knew exactly how they fit.

Serena immediately sent someone to fetch her mother’s jade. "Both pieces are whole—how could they possibly fit together?"

She examined them carefully, but no matter how she looked, she couldn’t figure out how two separate jades could possibly merge.

"Miss Feng, just place them one atop the other and hold them in your palm." Sean Xuan was calm and unhurried.

Serena did as he said—and then...
