Elder Bu’s Overture

1/11/2026

The seven battlefronts must not fall into chaos, or else the Demon and Monster races will seize the opportunity to invade.

Currently, the Blood River, Dragon Mountain, and Black Crag battlefields have all come under Ian Song's command. Although Brian Bai of the West Sea Battlefield has not formally submitted, after a deep conversation, Ian knows that with Brian Bai present, the West Sea is secure.

Therefore, the ones Ian truly needs to confront are the Sky Origin, Blackwater, and Red Sand battlefields.

Among the commanders of these three battlefields, Logan Sima's attitude is the worst, while Harry Han is outwardly enthusiastic. However, Ian suspects this enthusiasm is only superficial, as he finds Han rather slick—acting friendly just to avoid offending him.

After meeting with the commanders of these battlefields, Ian returned to Pristine Way Sect.

Bu Yu greets Alliance Leader Song.

So, he has two things to do right now. First, secure the seven battlefronts—he's about halfway done. Second, fully integrate the forces of the East and South Domains. After all, their unification is still shaky. For example, if the East Domain coalition lost to the Military Council army, the East Domain Martial Alliance would surely collapse.

The problems in the South Domain are even more severe. So, before the other seven Domains are unified, he must fully consolidate the power of these two Domains to have the capital for future unification of the Human world.

But as sect leader and alliance chief, he doesn't need to handle everything personally. Once he gives orders, others will take care of it. So, for the next while, Ian's days are fairly relaxed—spending time with his new wife Harriet Gu, secretly meeting Snow Yue, and teasing Lynn Ning when he's free.

"Sect Leader, someone’s delivered a letter for you!"

On this sunny day, Ian Song lay lazily in the courtyard, enjoying Lynn Ning’s service, when a young errand boy came in and delivered an unsigned letter.

Opening the letter, his gaze first landed on the name of the sender.

But when he saw the sender’s name, Ian was surprised—it was Elder Bu.

He quickly skimmed the contents of the letter and couldn’t help but sigh, ‘Just when I’m sleepy, someone brings me a pillow.’

The letter wasn’t long, but it clearly conveyed goodwill.

Of the nine elders, the only one Ian didn’t dislike was Elder Bu.

Back when he obtained the Emperor-Rank Martial Soul but refused to give up his Sanctum Martial Academy identity and fully join the Military Council, the Strategic Operations Camp was very annoyed. Elder Chu even proposed in council to have him eliminated.

But Elder Bu vetoed this proposal.

Later, Elder Chu sent her private forces to deal with him, but ended up suffering a double loss. Ian admits that if the Strategic Operations Camp had gone all out, he might not have survived at the time.

So, Elder Bu could be considered as having done him a favor.

Besides, Raymond Lei was once a disciple under Elder Bu, and now Raymond is Ian’s chief general overseeing military affairs in the East Domain. That makes their relationship even closer.

But the most important thing is, Elder Bu’s younger brother Brent Bu is the commander of the Sky Origin Battlefield. If Elder Bu personally persuades Brent Bu to submit, wouldn’t the chances of success be much higher?

"Where’s the messenger?" Ian asked the errand boy.

"Sect Leader, the messenger is waiting outside for your summons!" the errand boy replied respectfully.

Half a quarter of an hour later, Ian met the messenger in the reception hall.

"Bu Yu greets Alliance Leader Huang."

The messenger bowed respectfully.

He wasn’t very old, just a bit over thirty, and his cultivation wasn’t high—he’d just reached early Grandmaster stage.

However, his name made Ian pause and think.

"No need for formalities, have a seat!" Ian gestured casually.

"You share the same surname as Elder Bu. May I ask..."

"He’s my grandfather," Bu Yu replied.

Sending his own grandson as messenger—Elder Bu was clearly showing real sincerity.

Ian nodded in satisfaction. "So you’re Young Master Bu. Did Elder Bu leave any other instructions?"

Bu Yu paused, admiration flashing in his eyes. "Alliance Leader, nothing escapes you. My grandfather did have one message—he said he could help persuade my second grandfather."

Ian didn’t show any joy at this and instead asked, "Does Elder Bu have any conditions?"

"Alliance Leader, you’re overthinking it. My grandfather has no conditions—he’s only thinking of the greater good of the Human Race." At this, Bu Yu’s eyes filled with pride and worship.

Ian was taken aback, then apologized, but thought to himself: Is Elder Bu hiding a bigger scheme by making no demands, or is he truly selfless? Considering he’s willing to give up his elder position, Ian figures it’s more likely the latter.

Bu Yu smiled. "Alliance Leader, you’re too polite. Actually, my grandfather gave me one more task for this visit."

"Oh? Please go ahead!"

Bu Yu glanced around. Ian immediately understood and dismissed the attendants.

"Alliance Leader, as far as I know, ten killing maniacs appeared in both the East and South Domains not long ago."

"That’s right!" Ian nodded, his expression shifting.

"Actually, those killers are called Bloodfiend Guards—they’re the Military Council’s secret weapon. There are thirty-three in total!" Bu Yu continued.

Ian’s expression turned cold. He’d long suspected these Blood Demon Puppets were sent by the Military Council, but had no proof until now. Finally confirmed, a surge of anger rose in his heart—the Military Council had caused so many innocent deaths in the East and South Domains just to target him.

Just for this alone, he couldn’t spare the remaining elders.

"By the way, my grandfather said he’ll do his best to destroy the remaining Bloodfiend Guards to prevent more innocent casualties!"

"Good!"

Ian clapped and praised, "Elder Bu truly has high moral character."

The next day, Bu Yu left Pristine Way Sect. Before his departure, Ian gave out two gifts: for Bu Yu, ten third-grade Breakthrough Pills, ten fourth-grade Profound Pills, and ten high-grade spirit crystals; for Elder Bu, ten supreme-grade spirit crystals, five Longevity Pills, and ten fourth-grade Breakthrough Pills.

Several days later, Bu Yu quietly returned to the Holy City and handed the gifts to Elder Bu.

After seeing the gifts, Elder Bu was overjoyed. The older one gets, the more one fears death. He didn’t care much about the supreme-grade spirit crystals or the fourth-grade Breakthrough Pills, but the five Longevity Pills truly delighted him. Reading the instructions Ian left in the jade box, he learned that the five Longevity Pills could add fifty years to his life.

Ten days later, Ian received word that Brent Bu was willing to come under his banner.

It’s said that before Brent Bu surrendered, Elder Bu personally traveled to the Sky Origin Battlefield.
