The Death of Lily Bai 2
Uncle Ernie always carried his tortoise shell with him.
He used it for divination.
After Lily and the others left, Uncle Ernie cast a hexagram.
A death omen.
"No way! No way!" He cast another hexagram.
Another death omen.
He quietly returned to the car, took Moonlight from Max Mo, and murmured, "Little Gatekeeper, you have to protect your parents!"
"Mommy, Daddy..." Moonlight gazed longingly toward the mountaintop, eyes full of yearning.
He really wanted to see them.
...
Sandy was about to open the door when it swung open on its own.
Bright lights spilled out from inside, exposing both of them completely.
"Since you’re here, come in." Shaun Fane called from inside.
Lily took a deep breath and walked in.
It looked like the belly of the mountain had been completely hollowed out.
The space inside was surprisingly large.
The Supreme Emperor and Eric Lan were both being held at gunpoint by heavily armed special-forces soldiers.
Shaun Fane stood with a stern-looking officer.
Lily recognized him.
He was a famous young major general named Ryan Liu, and he had actually betrayed them.
At the far end, a staircase led straight up to the summit, where a giant astronomical telescope stood.
Beside the telescope was a rocky cave, pitch black inside—nothing could be seen, and no spiritual sense could penetrate it.
In the center of the chamber stood a wooden platform, three or four meters high.
Evan Lan’s body was placed on the high platform.
Lily exchanged a look with Sandy.
"I heard..." Shaun Fane drawled. "This beauty is actually a robot? I bet she could wipe us all out with a wave of her hand! Wow! I'm so scared!"
Lily looked at him, saying nothing.
Sandy eyed the two guns pointed at Xavier Xiao and Eric Lan, frowning slightly.
"But! I suggest you think carefully before you act!" Shaun Fane continued. "If they die, or if anyone here dies, their trigger fingers will loosen!"
Lily didn’t understand guns or what he meant, but Sandy did.
Sandy transmitted to her, "As soon as their hooked trigger fingers relax, the bullets will fire."
"Got it? If you don’t, I’ll explain," Shaun Fane said with a grin. "These guns are custom. If they die or get hurt, their fingers relax, and—bang!—the bullet shoots right into their heads!"
Lily took a deep breath. "That’s way too risky. What if their hands go numb or slip? Wouldn’t that be bad? Let them go first and we’ll talk. What do you want? Want all fifty billion back? I’ll even add another fifty billion, okay?"
"Ha ha ha! What’s mine should always be returned!" Shaun Fane laughed. "Did you really think I gave it to you?"
"Fine, I’ll give it all back. Just let them go," Lily said.
"No way," Shaun Fane replied.
Lily forced herself to be patient. "Then what do you want?"
"You have to behave! If you do, maybe I’ll move the guns away from their heads!"
"Okay, I’ll behave," Lily raised her hands. "Whatever you say, I’ll do. Just have them move the guns away."
As long as the guns were moved away, she and Sandy would have room to act.
Otherwise, they wouldn’t dare make a move.
"Fine, then cuff yourself to that water pipe first!" He tossed Lily a pair of handcuffs.
