I sat quietly on the rooftop of a building, watching the battle between Tan Tian and the Wraithlord unfold on the cliff opposite. Having just witnessed an especially fierce clash, I saw the Wraithlord now seated on the ground, eyes closed and motionless, paying no attention to Tan Tian, who stood not far away.

Earthly Soul and John Chou were seated on the rooftop of the building next to me, silently observing everything happening on the mountain wall.

That sensation of impending death was gone. As an Underworld Denizen, one can sense their own death a week in advance, even knowing the exact date. But now, that feeling has left me completely.

"John Chou, where are your subordinates?"

"They’re stationed all over the Living World, guarding against members of the Immortality Society. They should be arriving soon. As for those guys in the Arcane Society, there’s no point in staying in Haven City any longer."

John Chou stood up and floated over to me, a difficult-to-describe smile on his face.

"All we can do now is keep waiting. Rachel Lan, it shouldn’t be difficult for you—the use of Bloodbane Power."

I nodded and thanked him. Right now, waiting is all we can do—waiting for the Wraithlord to resume fighting Tan Tian, and then searching for a way to break the Wraithlord’s power.

Earthly Soul chuckled beside me.

Tan Tian really goes all out—he actually sacrificed millions of revenants just to trap the Wraithlord. When did this all begin?

It was like this from the very beginning. We only learned about the Wraithlord’s existence during those years in Abyssal Hell. But now, no matter what is said, it’s useless. All we can do is wait for the Arcane Society people to arrive.

I glanced at John Chou in confusion. Not far away, the sound of helicopter rotors echoed. I saw several large helicopters approaching us. Soon, they landed just outside Gourd Village—it was the Underworld Agent group, arriving ahead of the others.

I stood up and climbed down from the rooftop, heading toward the plaza at the center of the village. Soon, I saw many Underworld Agents and the Ten Soul Collectors of the Hades Circle gathered there, including my parents. Jason Su wore a grave expression as he stared at the visible cliff in the distance. I quickly found my parents.

Though Earthly Soul said this, many of the Underworld Agents still looked at him with distrust. My parents and I went to a small pipe at the edge of the plaza. John Chou continued discussing matters with the Underworld Agents. Soon, many of them seemed to understand and began heading toward the lower end of Gourd Village. Less than two hundred Underworld Agents had arrived—far fewer than before—and those present were among the most capable.

All we saw was blood spraying. The Wraithlord’s body was instantly slashed open in two places. The Wraithlord bared his teeth and burst out laughing.

At this moment, everyone’s gaze fixed on the fragment of the Wraithlord’s power that Tan Tian had drawn out from the Corpse Realm. No one knew its true nature; the force was so bizarre that to me, it seemed both like flowing water and fire—cold and hot, profoundly strange. Just as Xiaoyaozi reached out to touch it, John Chou stopped him.
