Cecilia Gu was stunned for a moment and hadn't answered yet when Mr. Yun spoke up: "Alright, your sister is back. I'll deal with you later!"
With that, Mr. Yun opened the door and left the room.
Xiao Wang hadn't expected Mr. Yun to be in the young madam's room and was startled. She then cautiously looked at Cecilia Gu: "Young madam, did you get scolded again?"
Cecilia Gu glared at her, "You sure talk a lot! Don't I know my own dad's temper? Where's Lawyer Julia Yu?"
"Oh, oh, I'll go right away." Xiao Wang hurriedly turned around and invited Julia Yu over.
Julia Yu hadn't been seen for several years, and she looked even more capable now.
Her short hair made her look stylish and serious.
"Mrs. Yin." Julia Yu smiled as she greeted Cecilia Gu, "Long time no see."
"Yes, it's been a while. How have you been?" Cecilia Gu smiled back. "Please, have a seat."
"Thank you." Julia Yu sat down across from Cecilia Gu, placed her document bag to the side, and said, "I'm still the same. Now I'm working as a consultant for Mo Corporation, serving the Mo family exclusively. My status has gone up, and so has my income. I don't have to worry about money anymore."
"That's great, congratulations." Cecilia Gu couldn't help but feel that Julia Yu was hiding something.
But since they weren't that close, it wasn't appropriate to ask.
"Thank you." Julia Yu opened her document bag, pulled out a file, and handed it to Cecilia Gu. "Mr. Mo asked me to give this to you. Please sign it."
Cecilia Gu took it, opened it, and saw that it was a transfer list.
The list had all sorts of items—antiques, calligraphy, jewelry, clothes, and some rare albums.
"What's this?" Cecilia Gu looked at Julia Yu in confusion.
"These are gifts from Mr. Mo for Miss Yin's third birthday. Mr. Mo was overseas for a while, and some items took time to collect. He only just managed to gather everything. He promised these gifts to Miss Yin, so he personally went to find them. The birthday was delayed, so he asked me to deliver them to you." Julia Yu spoke calmly, as if she didn't know about Mr. Mo's feelings for Cecilia Gu.
"She's just a kid. Birthdays are supposed to be lively, not so formal! Why go to so much trouble?" Cecilia Gu laughed.
So he was overseas all this time, just to find gifts for Yina.
That's incredibly thoughtful.
"I'm just responsible for delivering this to you," Julia Yu said. "I don't know anything about the other matters."
"Alright, I'll accept it then." Cecilia Gu said helplessly. "Yina isn't home right now, otherwise she'd be over the moon. She'd absolutely love these little gifts."
Julia Yu nodded slightly. "My task is done. If there's nothing else, I should..."
"I'm about to have a meal. Would you like to join me, Miss Yu?" Cecilia suddenly interrupted Julia Yu's attempt to leave, smiling. "I haven't had a proper meal in ages."
"Sure." Julia Yu immediately understood—Cecilia Gu still had something to ask her—so she nodded in agreement.
The two of them went to a restaurant, found a private room, and ordered a table full of food.
It had truly been a long time since Cecilia Gu had enjoyed a peaceful meal. The search for Molly Yun had reached a dead end, with no progress at all.
Charles Yin and the others couldn't find any leads, and Adrian hadn't shown up either.
Both sides were locked in a strange stalemate.
So Cecilia felt especially stifled and really wanted someone to talk to, just to let off some steam.
Although Cecilia knew Julia Yu wasn't the best choice, she couldn't find anyone more suitable at the moment.
Julia Yu didn't know why Cecilia wanted to have dinner with her, but she understood that the woman before her was the one whom that man would never be able to forget.
Even though Cecilia was already married to Charles Yin and had a son and a daughter.
She was still the obsession that Max Mo could never let go of.
Julia Yu considered herself a cold and rational person, never allowing herself to step out of line.
Not even in her thoughts.
So Julia Yu didn't say anything unnecessary and simply ate her meal quietly.
Cecilia raised her glass of champagne, hesitated for a long time, and finally asked, "Miss Yu, the last time we met was two years ago, wasn't it?"
"Yes," Julia Yu calmly set down her knife and fork. "That time, my car broke down, and Mrs. Yin helped me out."
"Ah, you actually remember that? I don't even recall it," Cecilia laughed. "What I do remember is that last time you handed me a mango and said you picked it yourself."
Julia Yu smiled as Cecilia mentioned the mango. "That time, I was coming back from a road trip and my car broke down. The mango really was picked by me. Did it taste good?"
"It was pretty good," Cecilia replied, then changed the topic. "I wanted to ask you—has Max Mo still refused to get married?"
Julia Yu was startled and sat up straight. "Why don't you ask Mr. Mo yourself?"
Cecilia said awkwardly, "I don't really have a position to ask now. When I saw him a few days ago, I wanted to ask, but with everything going on with my sister, I just wasn't in the mood. Now, even though we haven't found her, I know she's safe for now. Since I ran into you, I thought I'd ask. If you think it's inconvenient to answer, just forget it."
"It's not inconvenient, but I have even less of a position to answer," Julia Yu replied with a very formal smile.
Cecilia's eyes flickered.
Two years ago, she accidentally noticed that the features that Mo Yu and Mo Shuo had looked a bit like Julia Yu.
As time went by, the two children looked more and more like Julia Yu.
Could it be that these two children are Julia Yu's?
If that's the case, why hasn't Max Mo married Julia Yu?
Why do the two adults act as if nothing ever happened?
Max Mo is so smart, he must have noticed something by now, right?
Then why...
Cecilia lowered her gaze. She knew very well that she shouldn't be paying attention to the Mo family business, much less asking about it.
But Max Mo had shown her both kindness and loyalty—she couldn't just turn a blind eye.
Since it wasn't appropriate to ask Max Mo directly, she could only try to get some answers from Julia Yu.
She didn't expect Julia Yu to distance herself so directly.
Cecilia felt a little embarrassed.
"Max Mo is a really good person." Cecilia said dryly.
If you like Max Mo, I'd be happy for you.
That was something Cecilia didn't dare to say out loud.
She was afraid others would think she was bragging.
But Julia Yu said, "Mr. Mo is quite wonderful. Mrs. Yin and Mr. Mo have been friends for years. It's normal for you to care about his life."
Julia Yu sensed Cecilia's embarrassment and took the initiative to ease the tension. Cecilia smiled at her warmly, "Is that so?"
"Mr. Mo now has Mo Yu and Mo Shuo, his two children, so he's not in a rush to get married." Julia Yu continued, "And the Mo family patriarch values Mo Yu and Mo Shuo, often keeping them close and teaching them personally. So for Mr. Mo, whether he marries or not doesn't make much difference anymore."
Cecilia actually wanted to tell Julia Yu that, if she ever needed help, she could offer it.
But in the end, that felt a little too much.
So Cecilia didn't say anything.
After finishing the meal, Julia Yu said her goodbyes and left.
Driving back, Julia Yu couldn't help but think of Mo Yu and Mo Shuo's faces.
In fact, she'd long noticed that Mo Yu and Mo Shuo looked a bit like her.
She never imagined that when she was desperate and sold her eggs, the buyer would turn out to be Max Mo.
When she realized the truth, she couldn't deny feeling a little pleased.
But she quickly snapped back to reality.
Max Mo is Max Mo, and Mo Yu and Mo Shuo are Mo Yu and Mo Shuo.
They're not the same thing.
Over the years, she'd seen firsthand how Max Mo pined for Cecilia, and honestly, even if she had something with him, it could never compare to the place Cecilia held in his heart.
Julia Yu had always been a clever woman.
She'd never do something she knew was impossible.
So, since Max Mo chose to play dumb, she did the same.
Luckily, because she knew how to play dumb, Max Mo didn't push her away. Instead, he made her a consultant for the Mo Corporation, letting her handle legal matters.
Julia Yu was always grateful for kindness, so she kept to her duties and never thought of crossing any lines.
Max Mo appreciated Julia Yu's sensibility, so he didn't stop her from interacting with Mo Yu and Mo Shuo.
If one day, Mo Yu and Mo Shuo grew up and wanted to acknowledge their mother, he wouldn't stand in the way.
But for him to marry another woman? That would never happen.
All his feelings had long been locked away in the depths of his memory.
Julia Yu understood this perfectly.
As she was driving, her phone rang—it was a video call from Max Mo.
Julia Yu answered. On screen, Max Mo's refined face appeared. "Did you deliver everything?"
"Yes, Mr. Mo," Julia Yu replied. "Mrs. Yin invited me to dinner and asked a few questions about you."
"And how did you answer?"
"I told her I wasn't in a position to answer anything about you."
Max Mo chuckled softly. "You did well. You've always been a smart woman."
"Thank you for the compliment, sir," Julia Yu replied, her expression unchanged. "Mr. Mo, do you have any other instructions?"
"No, that's all." Max Mo said, ending the video call.
Julia Yu's fingers trembled slightly, but she soon regained her composure.
Max Mo couldn't stay in R City forever, and neither could Charles Yin.
Now that Adrian had taken Molly Yun away from R City, everyone had returned to their own cities to try other ways to find her.
Before leaving this time, Max Mo thought he'd finally let go of Cecilia.
But after seeing her again, he realized that the hardest thing to let go of in this life was probably her.
So he arranged for Julia Yu to deliver the things, while he himself stayed hidden.
