The new Human Emperor!

The Imperial Preceptor’s eyes grew complicated, and for a fleeting moment, a trace of killing intent flickered deep within. Village Chief, as the previous Human Emperor, had always been indifferent to fame and power, his sights set far beyond worldly authority—so he earned universal respect.

But would Quinn Shepherd, this new Human Emperor, truly be like Village Chief?

The Human Emperor wielded a power so immense it eclipsed even Emperor Evan, and his charisma outshone the Imperial Preceptor himself!

The Imperial Preceptor had visited Little Jade Capital Sect and learned some of its hidden secrets. He knew just how vast the Human Emperor’s influence truly was. He and Emperor Evan had long sought to rule the world’s sects and sacred grounds, but only a handful had ever agreed to bow to the Everpeace Empire.

But the Human Emperor could.

The Human Emperor could make all those sects submit. His authority wasn’t won through conquest or slaughter, but was jointly granted by all the great sects and sacred lands!

Even Little Jade Capital Sect—if they learned Quinn Shepherd was the new Human Emperor—would likely stand behind him.

If Quinn Shepherd ever became drunk on power, he could easily seize Emperor Evan’s throne and undo every reform the Imperial Preceptor and Evan had fought to build!

“If you and Emperor Evan ever fail, as long as a Human Emperor remains, there’s still hope for a comeback.” Village Chief’s voice drifted to his ear.

The Imperial Preceptor’s heart gave a start. He withdrew his gaze and said, “I won’t fail.”

Village Chief smiled faintly. “I hope you won’t. I don’t want the boy to suffer.”

Quinn walked over, and the two men fell silent.

The Imperial Preceptor’s gaze settled on him again, and he felt a strange sensation in his chest. This fifteen- or sixteen-year-old youth before him was, in truth, the most powerful person in the world—and yet he had no clue.

Quinn Shepherd: Heavenly Demon Cult Master, Imperial Academy Fellow, inheritor of Oldridge Village—but above all, the current Human Emperor.

His authority surpassed even the emperor and the Imperial Preceptor, but Quinn had no idea how vast the Human Emperor’s influence truly was—a truly bizarre situation.

Crippled Joe watched the Imperial Preceptor’s face and felt a secret surge of pride. ‘The Preceptor probably still doesn’t realize the boy is carrying the Ling family’s imperial regalia. If he ever found out the Imperial Disc was hanging on Quinn’s chest, he’d probably blow his top!’

He’d handed Quinn the Imperial Disc just for fun—after decades of studying the jade disc and getting nowhere, he figured it was pointless to keep.

But he did know its meaning: a god-bestowed treasure for the Ling family, symbolizing heaven-granted imperial authority. Legend had it the Nine-Dragon Emperor Art was first deciphered from its secrets.

The Imperial Disc’s theft had been a major scandal at the time, but Emperor Evan covered it up, so no outsider ever found out.
