Mira Tang and Jada Tang snapped out of their daze and rushed in after Serena Feng, but just as they reached the courtyard gate, the door beam suddenly crashed down. The two maids jumped in fright and instinctively stepped back, forced to watch helplessly as Serena’s figure disappeared into the sea of flames.
The two maids panicked and shouted loudly, "Miss—!"
Serena Feng paused, turned sideways, her face blazing in the firelight like a rose in full bloom—deadly and captivating. "Don’t worry about me. You two get out first. I can get out on my own."
With those words, Serena didn’t look back and dove into the flames. Rafters and pillars crashed down all around, but she charged forward like a fearless warrior, unstoppable, ignoring every obstacle in her path.
The two maids watched in terror, hearts pounding, but Serena moved with agile precision, dodging falling beams at the last possible moment as if she knew exactly when they’d drop.
Seriously, after running through battlefields day after day, if she didn’t know how to dodge danger, she’d be dead a thousand times over by now.
"Miss, it’s too dangerous!" The two maids gritted their teeth and, reckless, squeezed their eyes shut and charged in—only to be grabbed by Leon Li, who had just arrived. "Cough, cough, do you two have a death wish? Get out, now!"
Leon Li’s face was flushed red from the smoke, and the entire Feng Manor was engulfed in flames. Hoping to put out the fire was a fantasy; the only thing left to do was save people.
"No, we can’t leave! Miss—Miss is inside!" The two maids were frantic, stomping their feet. Leon Li frowned, hesitated for a moment, then said in a deep voice, "You two go first. I’ll rescue Miss Feng."
Leon Li took a bucket of water from a nearby soldier and dumped it over himself. "All right. Leave Miss Feng to me. I’ll get her out."
With that, he charged straight into the flames.
Mira and Jada didn’t hesitate—they followed him in. The scorching fire felt like it would roast them alive. Leon Li heard movement behind him and, turning to see the two women, nearly choked with frustration. "Why did you come in? Do you think you can carry Miss Feng out yourselves?"
Only now did Mira and Jada remember that, to outsiders, Serena was still supposed to be unconscious. "We’re Miss’s maids. If she dies in the flames, of course we’ll stay with her."
The maids didn’t bother to explain further, just followed behind Leon Li, dodging falling beams as best they could. Leon could only accept it. As he rushed toward Serena’s room, the two maids darted into the neighboring chamber.
When Leon Li burst in, the bed was already ablaze, flames so fierce he couldn’t see if anyone was there—or if there was, they might already be a charred corpse.
Leon’s heart skipped a beat. He drew his sword and swept it across the bed, silently praying Serena could survive this disaster. The blade cut through empty air—nothing.
"Miss Feng isn’t here." Leon let out a heavy sigh of relief, then realized the two maids hadn’t followed him in. He frowned, but didn’t dwell on it, assuming the flames kept them out. He cursed them for causing trouble—now he’d have to find them, too. Not daring to waste time, Leon dashed out, still searching for Serena Feng…
In most households, the study was a place of utmost importance. But in Feng Manor, it was almost an afterthought—the door always left open, and Serena rarely visited.
Many believed the study was purely ornamental, not knowing it actually held Feng Manor’s most valuable item.
When Serena rushed in, the study hadn’t caught fire yet, though the heat was intense. She hurried to open a hidden compartment and pulled out a black wooden box.
