Chapter 1257
A muffled groan escaped Raymond's lips. His body stiffened for a moment, eyes wide with shock.
Such overwhelming strength—this is definitely not the power a Sky Rank Level One Alchemical Golem should possess. It's comparable to a Sky Rank Level Two Sword Saint unleashing battle energy. Three years ago, I faced a Level Two orc Sword Saint, and even he wasn't this strong...
Raymond's body faltered slightly, and another giant Alchemical Golem charged at him. The massive sword in its hand swung down like a giant hammer.
With another collision, Raymond's face turned pale. The sheer force was impossible to block; it traveled through the Life Hymn Blade and slammed directly into him. Even the protective layers of his battle aura armor were torn apart—two layers shredded in an instant.
Just two Colossus Golems, and Raymond was already forced onto the defensive. The other two, slender Swiftblade Golems, moved with terrifying speed. The moment Raymond was struck by the power of the runes, they appeared at his sides, their thin swords blurring into a flurry of killing blows aimed at his vital points. Every sword shadow targeted a spot Raymond had no choice but to defend.
Facing the assault of four Sky Rank Alchemical Golems, with his junior disciples behind him, Raymond knew that if he retreated even a step, Marianne and the others would be instantly killed.
With a low roar, Raymond unleashed his full power. Runes surfaced on the Life Hymn Blade, and its deathly aura grew fiercer, even beginning to affect the strength of the Sky Rank Alchemical Golems.
The two Swiftblade Golems, empowered by the Godspeed Innate Rune, suddenly lost half their speed. Their movements slowed enough to be tracked by the naked eye.
Raymond swung his right arm, the Life Hymn Blade forming a curtain of sword light that blocked every attack and forced all four Sky Rank Alchemical Golems back.
But after that strike, several strands of white hair appeared on Raymond's head—the drain on his life force was too severe.
But in the next moment, the two Godspeed Alchemical Golems, each wielding four arms, appeared on either side of Raymond again. A Colossus Golem and a Heavy Strike Golem also charged back into the fray.
Raymond, face grim, used the Life Hymn Blade to slash open his own chest, letting his heart's blood flow onto the sword. His beating heart could be seen through the wound, but it was instantly healed by a surge of life force.
In an instant, half of Raymond's hair turned silver-white. His life force plummeted by half, but the Undying Aura he unleashed doubled in strength.
The surface of the Life Hymn Blade was now completely covered in runes, its blade turned gray, and a thick aura of death spread out. Even the elements around the sword seemed to die, and they did not recover even after leaving its range.
It was only by relying on this power that Raymond barely managed to hold back the four Alchemical Golems. The Colossus Golem’s brute strength was definitely on par with a Sky Rank Level Two.
The Heavy Strike Golem, though slightly weaker, had a force that transmitted power exceptionally well. Even blocking its blows, the force penetrated Raymond’s battle aura defenses and shook his body.
The greatest threat, however, came from the two perfectly coordinated Godspeed Golems with four arms. Their thin swords, empowered by Godspeed runes, could pierce Raymond’s vital points in an instant if given the chance.
Meanwhile, Constantine and the others were now completely unable to approach Raymond. His battlefield was too intense for him to protect them, and dozens of Level Thirty-Nine Alchemical Golems surrounded Constantine’s group, overwhelming them. Their defeat was only a matter of time…
On the other side, Leon’s battlefield had already expanded to a range of over a thousand meters. Theo, controlling the Spellbook of Ages, continuously unleashed torrents of flame—these flames, drawn from Sky Rank power, dealt massive damage to the Level Thirty-Nine Alchemical Golems.
And Anderson’s Elemental Storm could rapidly corrode the outer defenses of these Level Thirty-Nine Alchemical Golems. Once their defenses were breached, the torrents of flame and elemental storm could tear a golem apart in three seconds.
The greatest threat to Leon came from the four Sky Rank Alchemical Golems.
One was a giant Alchemical Golem over five meters tall, runes of Steel Body glowing on its surface and turning its exterior silver-white. It wielded a massive sword in one hand and a tower shield over four meters tall in the other, enduring more than a dozen of Leon’s four-elemental blasts with barely a tremor—its charge was simply interrupted.
Another, only two meters tall and slender, bore a blood-red blade rune. It appeared suppressed, always hiding behind the Steel Body Golem and seizing any chance to approach Leon.
But Leon’s attention was focused on it—the mark of its innate rune was too famous. The legendary Critical Strike Rune, combined with its abysmally weak defenses, told Leon that if it got close, a single full-powered strike could shatter even his strongest shield.
On Leon’s battlefield alone, he held off eighty Level Thirty-Nine Alchemical Golems, along with two melee and two caster golems.
The two caster golems bore runes—one to amplify all spell power, and the other, a rare weakening rune.
The two Sky Rank caster golems raised their right arms, unleashing torrents of explosive and icy rays.
Every second, four or five explosive rays shot out, with at least one striking Leon’s Rule Rune Shield. Each impact triggered six or seven thousand runes to react, and if attacked again in quick succession, the number would spike to over ten thousand.
Those icy rays could even pierce through Theo’s torrents of flame. When they struck Leon’s Rule Rune Shield, the runes’ power was greatly weakened; what once required eight thousand runes to block now needed over ten thousand.
