Not Really Their Biological Child
Quentin Lin spoke as he patted his own little chest, looking every bit the brave little man. He had completely forgotten about crying after being scolded earlier.
Lily Evans looked at Quentin Lin's mischievous little face and thought to herself, she'd really been overthinking things. Why worry about Quentin Lin at all? This clever little rascal could surely handle his own father!
Quentin Lin's mood instantly improved. He stuck out his tongue and stayed at Prince Leonard's Manor for dinner. Only after Madam Wang returned did he sneak back to the Lin Residence.
After Quentin Lin left, Lily Evans and Alexander Hayes had dinner and took a walk around the manor. Alexander seemed distracted, his mind weighed down by something.
Lily Evans, sensitive to Alexander Hayes's mood, asked, "What's wrong today? Is something on your mind?"
Alexander Hayes paused, pressed his lips together, sighed, and after a long moment finally spoke, his voice slow and low: "I've uncovered something about my origins..."
Lily Evans's heart skipped a beat when she heard this. Judging by Alexander Hayes's expression and tone, she guessed he'd discovered something unpleasant.
Lily Evans gently squeezed Alexander Hayes's hand, then let go, signaling that he still had her—and their child—by his side.
Alexander Hayes led Lily Evans to sit by the lake and said quietly, "Based on my investigation, I might—really—not be the biological son of Marquis Valor and Marchioness Valor..."
Hearing Alexander Hayes say this himself, Lily Evans wasn't surprised at all. It was as if she'd already guessed it long ago.
