Brotherly Bonds

At that moment, the tavern owner regained his composure and quickly walked over to Evan Chu, his voice choked with emotion as he called out, "Boss, is it really you? Are you really the boss?"

Evan Chu grinned, "Look at you, running a tavern now! Not bad, not bad! Go whip up a few dishes—tonight, we brothers are gonna drink and talk our hearts out!"

There weren’t many people in the tavern hall at the moment, so no one paid much attention to their actions. But the manager watched every move between the two with crystal clarity, his heart filled with indescribable shock—like a calm lake suddenly whipped into towering waves, leaving him terrified.

His own boss was already one of the rare top dogs in this era—he’d said he was at Seventh-Layer Venerable Martial Realm. Back before they met, the manager was just a nobody at Earth Martial Realm, an ant at the bottom. Only by following his boss did he get the strength and status he had now.

But just now, his boss actually called this young man ‘Boss.’ According to him, the only person he’d ever call Boss was the Lord of Frostbane Sect—Evan Chu—a super powerhouse who’d even ascended to the Immortal Realm. Judging by his shocked face and how he addressed the youth, there was no doubt: this was Evan Chu, the legendary Lord of Frostbane Sect.

If word got out that the Divine Continent’s number‑one powerhouse had appeared in Breezewine City, it would cause an absolute uproar—this was simply unbelievable. For a moment, it all felt like a dream.

"Old Lin, don’t get nervous. He’s the boss I told you about. But keep quiet about this—I don’t want any unnecessary trouble. Just prepare a few dishes and send them up to my room." The tavern owner said, and from the look on the manager’s face, it was clear he’d already figured out Evan Chu’s identity.

"Understood, I’ll go prepare them myself right away!" the manager replied respectfully.

Evan Chu and the tavern owner slipped into a private room. The moment the door closed, the tavern owner couldn’t hold back—he blurted out, "Boss, am I dreaming? Is it really you? How in the world did you end up in Breezewine City? What the hell is going on?"

"Gavin Wei, I didn’t expect to run into you here either. If it weren’t for your Celestial Nectar Jadewine, we might’ve missed each other completely. I came down to the lower realm on purpose this time—just to check on my brothers and your sisters‑in‑law." Evan Chu said.

Soon, the food and wine arrived, personally delivered by the manager. "Old Lin, you’re not an outsider—stay and have a drink with us and Boss!" Gavin Wei invited.

"Young master, I really shouldn’t. I’m just a humble servant—how could I possibly dine with the Lord of Frostbane Sect? I can’t, I can’t!" the manager protested at once.

"It’s fine, it’s normal to sit and have a drink together. Besides, I’m not the Lord of Frostbane Sect anymore. Gavin Wei, what’s Old Lin’s story? Was he a patient you treated or something? And how did your strength suddenly skyrocket to Seventh‑Layer Venerable Martial Realm?" Evan Chu asked.

"Boss, it’s been over a hundred years since you left. So much has happened. Remember how I used to tell you about those random memories popping up in my head? They were all about herbs and medicine.

One time, I was out on business and got ambushed by bandits on the road. The guy was stronger than me and beat me half to death—my head slammed into a big rock and I blacked out.

He thought I was dead, took my money, and left. Turns out I wasn’t—like that saying, if disaster doesn’t kill you, fortune follows. That night, a torrential rain came down and woke me up.

Starving, I gulped down rainwater just to stay alive. The next day I managed to crawl up, but my head was all fuzzy and I couldn’t tell which way was which. I wandered around in a daze until I collapsed again.

That was when Old Lin found me. He carried me home and took care of me, even killed his only egg‑laying hen just to help me recover. I was really moved by that.

Old Lin lives alone, no wife or kids. I stayed at his place for about a week and got better—not just physically, but that foggy feeling in my head finally cleared up. My injuries were already healed by then.

Then one day, a flood of memories suddenly surfaced in my mind—clearer and clearer. As I sorted through them, I realized I was actually the reincarnation of the Medicine Immortal from the Immortal Realm. That discovery really scared me!" Gavin Wei said.

"Medicine Immortal? That name’s ancient—must be someone from way back. Only those who’ve mastered the Realm of Reincarnation can pull off reincarnation. Looks like you were a real big shot in your past life," Evan Chu said.

"Master, you’re absolutely right. The Medicine Immortal lived millions of years before me—I’ve heard his name before. No one in the Immortal Realm could match his medical or pill-refining skills. I never thought he’d reincarnate here and end up as your sworn brother. It’s truly incredible." The Emerald Immortal Empress’s voice sounded in Evan Chu’s mind.

Hearing the Emerald Immortal Empress, Evan Chu instantly got it. Gavin Wei’s old memories had come flooding back, so his cultivation shot up like crazy. With no Immortal Stones in this world, he hadn’t ascended yet—if there were, he’d probably be long gone. Evan never imagined his sworn brother was actually an ancient Immortal heavy-hitter.

"Boss, how are things for you in the Immortal Realm now? Did you bring any Immortal Stones down this time? It’s so hard to ascend from this world—I spend every day searching for herbs to refine into pills, just hoping I can ascend and see you again." Gavin Wei said.

"I came down this time precisely to help you all ascend sooner. I brought plenty of Immortal Stones. And Gavin, let me tell you straight—in the Immortal Realm, there’s a Frostbane Sect too, but it’s called Frostbane Imperial Palace now. I founded it myself. Surprised?" Evan Chu laughed.

"Frostbane Imperial Palace? Boss, you mean you’ve already built your own power in the Immortal Realm? That’s nuts! You’ve only been up there a hundred years—founding an Imperial Palace takes Immortal Emperor-level strength! Don’t tell me you’re already an Immortal Emperor?" Gavin Wei gaped, totally floored.

"Pretty much. Right now, Frostbane Imperial Palace is the strongest force in the Immortal Realm, and I’m also the strongest expert. Otherwise, how could I come down here to find you all? Tomorrow, I’ll go check out Frostbane Sect and the tournament they’re hosting.

I’ve only got one month down here, so I need to get everything settled before my time’s up. Quit spacing out—drink! This Celestial Nectar Jadewine tastes exactly like the Immortal Realm’s version, only here it boosts Stellar Power instead of Immortal Spirit Force!

Gavin Wei and Old Lin were left dumbstruck, frozen like statues, eyes glued to Evan Chu as if they’d seen a ghost…
