Charles Yin raised an eyebrow at Sean Kerr. "Here, take my card and book yourself a new room."
Before Charles could close the door, Sean Kerr reached out and blocked it. "You seem to be in a bad mood tonight too. Want to have a few drinks together?"
Charles's narrow eyes twitched. "Doesn't seem like there's any good liquor here..."
Sean Kerr gestured toward the room. "Let's drink here!"
Charles hesitated for a moment, but finally let Sean Kerr in.
In no time, Alex directed the waiters to bring all kinds of alcohol into the room.
Beer, baijiu, red wine, fruit wine.
A chaotic assortment, even the waiters couldn't name some of the bottles. Soon, the living room was piled high with drinks.
Charles kicked Shang Ke into the bathroom, telling him to shower before drinking.
He was a clean freak—couldn't stand even the slightest mess.
Charles rolled up the sleeves of his black shirt to his elbows, and with his long fingers, popped open the caps of several bottles on the table.
In the next second, the room was filled with the rich aroma of alcohol.
Even if you're drinking to drown your sorrows, the booze has to be aged enough.
Sean Kerr came out of the bathroom, drying his hair, and said to Alex, "Give me your boss's phone."
Charles glanced at Sean and nodded to Alex.
Alex immediately picked one of Charles's less important phones and handed it to Sean Kerr.
Sean Kerr looked at the phone—spotless, not a single contact saved. He waved it at Charles, "Did you predict I'd be without a phone and prepare this just for me?"
Charles pushed a pile of drinks toward Sean Kerr. "You're overthinking it. My phones break all the time, so I keep spares."
Sean Kerr's fingers froze. "Aren't you going to ask why I don't have a phone anymore?"
"You probably told your family you’re leaving the Kerr Family and giving back all your assets. Then, to prove your resolve, you handed all your cards and phones to your assistant and had them take them home. And you definitely did all this with Rona Muir present." Charles answered calmly.
Sean Kerr hung his head and said to Charles, "Why won't she trust me? I can handle my family's problems! I know I can do it!"
Charles patted Sean on the shoulder, his ring gleaming on his long fingers, eyes tinged with melancholy. "Yeah, why won't she trust me? Everything I do is for her... Why can't she believe in me, why does she insist on taking the hardest path?"
"Exactly! Why doesn't Rona trust me? She keeps saying we're not a good match. I liked her since college, but I held back for years so I wouldn't scare her. I dealt with all those jerks chasing her, got rid of those creepy old guys... I fought for her to become Vice President at Odyssey, me as President, her as VP—aren't we a perfect match? How are we not?" Sean Kerr drank bottle after bottle.
"I bought the Yun Family for her! Why won't she believe me? It's not like I'd actually destroy the Yun Family. I've been in business for years, I know the limits! I just can't stand the Yun and Mo families' stupid prophecy and ancestral rules! Ha, what a joke! If I can't protect my woman, what's the point of being a business king?" Charles downed glass after glass of vodka.
"You know all about my family's mess. I can't fix it overnight, but I'm trying, aren't I? Why won't she listen, why won't she give me time?" In just a few sentences, Sean had finished a whole case of beer.
"No one touches my woman!" Charles gulped down his last vodka, eyes cold and dangerous. "Whoever tries, I'll make them pay!"
The two of them rambled on, sounding like they were answering each other, but really just talking to themselves.
By the end of the night, the floor was littered with empty bottles.
When Joe Qi returned, he saw Charles's door wide open. He walked in to find the two men sprawled out, asleep on the floor.
Joe Qi, smelling of perfume, took in the scene and couldn't help but say, "Did I miss something last night? Charles, the clean freak, sleeping on the floor? And what's up with Sean Kerr, why's he so wasted?"
Joe Qi saw Alex leading several people to clean up the bottles, then stopped Alex to ask, "What happened here?"

Alex gave a wry smile. "The boss was about to call it a night, but President Kerr showed up for drinks, and this is how it ended."
Joe Qi shook his head speechlessly. "Let them sleep. I'm heading back to my room."
Alex looked at Joe Qi in surprise. "You just got back?"
Joe Qi smiled meaningfully. "Yeah."
Alex immediately kept quiet.
As Charles Yin's assistant, Alex knew what to ask and what not to ask.
Still, Joe took the initiative to say to Alex, "Didn't expect those little actresses to find out I was here and trail me, pretending to bump into me. Tsk tsk, they're working so hard at acting, how could I not play along? Oh, by the way, where's your young madam?"
Alex wasn't sure how to answer, so he just said, "I don't know."
Joe stroked his chin and said, "Your young madam doesn't have much to do, why not let her help me out?"
Alex couldn't help his curiosity and asked, "Help with what?"
Although the young madam still holds the title of Chief Assistant at Yin Enterprises, ever since her belly started showing, she's stopped handling company affairs.
Now she's seven months pregnant, what help could she be?
Joe stroked his chin, looking smug. "After seeing Cici block the door last night, I suddenly feel she'd be great at helping me pick a few actors!"
Alex's jaw nearly hit the floor!
The young madam could do that?
Just then, Charles groggily woke up, saw his and Sean's sorry state, pinched his forehead and stood up. Turning around, he saw Joe at the door chatting with Alex.
Unfortunately, he overheard Joe's suggestion.
"If you want her help, shouldn't you ask me first?" Charles shook his head and said to Alex, "Where's the hangover soup?"
Alex quickly turned and handed over the hangover soup. Charles drank it in one gulp, glanced at the still-sleeping Sean, and kicked him twice. "Aren't you supposed to crash Rona Muir's matchmaking event today?"
Sean grunted twice but didn't get up.
Charles said, "I'm going to shower. Joe, never mind... I'll talk to you later."
Charles quickly went to shower, and Joe whistled as he returned to his own room to rest.
Alex directed the others and the waiters to finally get the room cleaned up.
They replaced the carpet and aired out the alcohol smell. Except for the still-sleeping Sean, you'd never know two men had been binge drinking here last night.
Charles finished showering and came out, drying his hair. "What's Cici up to now?" he asked.
Alex dutifully reported, "Young madam and President Mu stayed up late last night, so she's still catching up on sleep."
Charles's hand paused briefly as he dried his hair, then continued. "Got it."
Now neat and tidy, Charles regained his cold, proud kingly demeanor. He knocked on Joe's door and saw Joe had just finished showering too. Charles frowned, "What did you just say?"
Joe didn't answer Charles's question, but told him something else instead. "Just this morning, I got a call from Ran Xiwei. She used Dieyi's connections to get a role in the drama I'm about to shoot."
Ran Xiwei wants to act?
Charles instantly sobered up, reacting quickly. "You agreed?"
Joe smiled ambiguously. "Why not? Dieyi recommended her."
Charles's eyes flickered. "You're doing this on purpose, aren't you?"
"Isn't it fun?" Joe's smile grew sly. "So? Want to let Cici play too? After all the times she's been played, doesn't she want to get some payback?"
Charles burst out laughing.
Though Charles, Joe, and Sean are all good brothers, when it comes to relationships, Joe sees things much more clearly than Sean.
Joe instantly understood just how much Charles cares for Cici. Sean, on the other hand, is like a clueless husky—always getting taken advantage of.
