Such a Fall from Grace

Sean Hayes thought for a moment and nodded, "It seems there is."

Alexander Hayes's face darkened further, glaring fiercely at Sean Hayes: "Go find the official who customizes laws for this general and have this clause changed!"

Could Sean Hayes dare to refuse? He nodded vigorously, committing the matter to memory as top priority, and immediately planned to contact General Hayes's secret guards to handle it!

"That's all. You can get lost now," Alexander Hayes said, as if relieved, waving Sean Hayes away.

Sean Hayes felt as if he had received a royal pardon and dashed off to his room with Leonard Li.

"Why the heck are you here again?" Leonard Li rolled his eyes at Sean Hayes.

Still shaken from his encounter with Alexander Hayes, Sean Hayes put on a long face and insisted Leonard Li drink with him to calm his nerves.

Anyway, it's the Lantern Festival today, so drinking is totally justified.

As dinnertime approached, the household cooked sweet rice balls and a table full of delicious dishes. Everyone gathered in one room, eating and drinking together.

Sean Hayes secretly watched his general, Alexander Hayes, who had transformed into his goofy, lovable self, busily shelling sunflower seeds for Lily Evans.

Sean Hayes and Leonard Li exchanged glances, both secretly shaking their heads: A great general, shelling sunflower seeds for a woman—how he's fallen!

Lily Evans noticed their looks and felt embarrassed. She nudged Lucky gently: "I can shell the seeds myself, no need for you to do it. See, people are starting to think I'm spoiled."

Lucky grinned mischievously at Lily Evans's hands and mouth: "Can my wife really shell these seeds herself? Is your mouth up to the task?"

Lily Evans's cheeks flushed instantly. Ever since Lucky had gotten a taste for intimacy, he'd been clinging to her every night—shamelessly so. Her hands and mouth were sore more often than not. Thankfully, with tips from Violet Wu, she'd gotten much better at it lately.

"I—I can do it." Lily Evans picked up a seed, her hand trembling but determined.

Lucky's eyes twinkled as he handed Lily Evans a small pile of shelled seeds: "Eat the ones I peeled for you. Hmph, who dares call my wife spoiled?"

As he spoke, Lucky shot a sharp look at Leonard Li and Sean Hayes, his gaze as fierce as a blade.

Leonard Li and Sean Hayes shivered in unison, quickly shifting their gaze away from Lily Evans. The two laughed and raised their cups to each other: "Come on, let's drink!"

"See, no one's laughing at you!" Lucky turned back, giving Lily Evans an innocent look.

Lily Evans glanced at Leonard Li and Sean Hayes, seeing them happily enjoying their drinks. She wondered if she'd just imagined their earlier looks.

The meal was lively and warm, with laughter and teasing filling the air.

The Lantern Festival was a time for family, and Lily Evans felt a rare sense of contentment. She glanced at Lucky, who was busy serving her food, and her heart softened.

Lucky caught her gaze and winked playfully, making Lily Evans's cheeks flush again.

Alexander Hayes, sitting at the head of the table, suddenly declared, "From now on, anyone who dares tease my wife will be banned from the dining table for a month!"

The whole table burst into laughter, and even Leonard Li and Sean Hayes couldn't help but join in.

The Lantern Festival dinner was full of joy, warmth, and the sweet taste of togetherness.

In this moment, Lily Evans felt truly at home.
