Cecilia Gu froze for a moment, then immediately pulled out her phone and dialed Charles Yin's number.
Charles Yin stared at the name on the caller ID, stunned for a long time before he finally came back to his senses.
This was... the first time Cecilia Gu had called him since their argument.
A flash of joy instantly appeared in Charles Yin's eyes. He couldn't wait to answer the call. To hide his excitement, he even deliberately lowered his voice, "Hello?"
Cecilia Gu didn't notice the change in Charles Yin's voice at all. She blurted out, "You need to be careful of Sylvia Ran. I saw her getting close to a Board member named Brooks today, and their relationship seemed off. I overheard their conversation—they're meeting again tonight, but I didn't catch where."
Charles Yin's long, narrow eyes lifted theatrically.
That Sylvia Ran really can't stand being left out of the spotlight!
She's bouncing all over the place, having a grand old time.
But the fact that Cecilia Gu was worried about him—even while they were in the middle of a fight—and would call him, made Charles Yin's heart soar with happiness.
Charles Yin cleared his throat and said, "Really? That's outrageous! But I can't leave right now, and I've sent my team out on other tasks. Can you do me a favor and keep an eye on Sylvia Ran and that guy for me? As soon as I finish up here, I'll rush over."
Cecilia Gu had only meant to give Charles Yin a friendly heads-up, never intending to actually help him out.
But since he'd asked, it seemed awkward to refuse.
After all, in so many things, Charles Yin had really gone above and beyond for her.
Cecilia Gu really couldn't say no, so she answered gloomily, "Alright, I'll try to help you."
After hanging up, Charles Yin was so excited he actually jumped up on the spot.
Alex, standing off to the side, had never seen the CEO act so... over the top.
Just when Alex thought the CEO's episode was over, Charles Yin broke into an enthusiastic rumba right there.
After dancing a round, Charles Yin, face beaming, said to Alex, "Go tell Sean Kerr that tonight he must stall Rona Muir for me. If he manages, I might consider helping him get those shares from his family's old man."
Alex asked in confusion, "Why does President Kerr need to stall Vice President Muir?"
Charles Yin's eyes were dark and deep like a wolf king's, his smile impossible to hide as he replied softly, "This time, Cici called me first. That means she's starting to soften up toward me. I don't want anyone distracting her while I'm making my move."
"So you said you'd help President Kerr get those shares back from the old man..." Alex looked uncertainly at Charles Yin. "Are you really going to get involved in the Kerr family's business?"
Charles Yin gazed deeply out the window, his tall figure leaning against the glass, eyes full of inscrutable meaning. "The Kerr family patriarch has held power long enough. It's time to let the next generation take over. When you're supposed to enjoy your twilight years, you shouldn't cling to that position. Don't you think so, Alex?"
Alex couldn't help but shiver.
He quickly lowered his head, responded respectfully, and hurried out.
He's been working with the CEO for several years now; he knows all too well how capable and decisive Charles Yin can be.
All these years, Charles Yin has focused on consolidating power within the Yin family and rarely interfered with other families.
But that doesn't mean the CEO ignores what goes on in other families.
On the contrary, Charles Yin has plenty of hidden cards—enough to throw several powerful families into chaos at a moment's notice.
When he moves, it's earth-shattering.
Looks like the CEO is about to play his Kerr family card.
It's true—the Kerr family patriarch has controlled things for forty years. It's about time the younger generation took charge.
Cecilia Gu was also left unsettled after hanging up the phone.
Only after ending the call did Cecilia Gu realize what she'd just done...
There was no time for regret. She could only say to Rona Muir, "Looks like I have to keep an eye on Sylvia Ran and see what she's up to with Director Brooks. Either way, I'm a Board member of Yin Enterprises too."
Rona Muir waved her hand. "Enough, enough, don't play that game with me. You're just worried about Charles Yin and want to get the facts, right? I'm not stupid, so don't try that line on me."
Rona's bluntness made Cecilia Gu's face flush bright red.
It's true—who was Rona Muir anyway? She couldn't be fooled by that excuse.
Just as Rona Muir was about to offer help, her phone suddenly rang.
Rona glanced at the number, her expression turning serious as she quickly answered, "What's going on?"
The person on the other end sounded on the verge of tears: "Vice President Muir, please come back to the office! Someone's trying to mess with your ledgers, and I can't stop them!"
Rona Muir's face flared with anger. "What did you say? Who? Who's messing with the ledgers? Where's Sean Kerr? Where the hell did he go?"
The caller sobbed, "President Kerr's phone can't be reached at all. The secretary says no one's been able to contact him for ages. You need to come back! Those ledgers are company secrets!"
They're more than just secrets!
Rona Muir had worked hard overseas to get those ledgers herself!
Those ledgers are crucial for Odyssey Corporation's expansion plans abroad.
They're Rona Muir's hard work, and there's no way she'd let anyone touch them!
She hadn't officially resigned yet—no way she'd let her efforts become someone else's stepping stone!
Rona Muir immediately said in a low voice, "Hold the line. If anyone touches my things, take them out—I'll handle the consequences."
After hanging up, Rona Muir apologetically patted Cecilia Gu's shoulder. Before she could say anything, Cecilia cut in, "It's fine, don't worry about it. Go back! We're just messing around here. Real business can't wait."

Rona Muir nodded and said, "I'll go take off my makeup now. You shouldn't hang around here too long—Sylvia Ran isn't easy to deal with, and you can't handle her alone. Or just call Charles Yin and let him do the tailing. Don't run around by yourself. You're over seven months pregnant, be careful! Did you hear me?"
Cecilia Gu nodded absentmindedly. "Alright, alright, go back already. Don't worry about me—what could possibly happen?"
Rona Muir, still worried, reminded her again, "Call me if anything happens, okay?"
Cecilia Gu nudged Rona Muir to hurry up and take off her makeup and leave.
Sure enough, not long after Rona Muir left, Charles Yin drove up.
Cecilia Gu almost thought she was seeing things—how did he get here so fast?
Didn't he just say he was busy?
From a distance, Charles Yin spotted Cecilia Gu, parked his car, and strode over to her.
After a few days apart, Cecilia Gu looked even more beautiful than before.
Charles Yin could hear his own heartbeat suddenly speed up.
Honestly, what a mess.
Cecilia Gu stared at Charles Yin in surprise, but he put on a haughty act and asked, "Did you find anything out?"
Cecilia Gu snapped back to reality, remembering how she'd impulsively called him. She almost wished she could chop off her own hand.
"You... You want me to investigate? I didn't even bring an assistant... I was just giving you a friendly reminder." Cecilia Gu replied, matching his haughty tone.
Yeah, this was how things should be—after all, they're still fighting!
Charles Yin looked off into the distance, unable to hide the smile in his long, narrow eyes.
"Funny, I didn't bring an assistant either. As soon as I heard someone might betray us, I couldn't help but rush over." Charles Yin deliberately put on an anxious face. "What do we do now? It's just the two of us..."
Cecilia Gu suddenly realized Alex wasn't here either.
It really was just Charles Yin who came.
How was this going to work?
Could it be that Charles Yin was going to do the surveillance himself?
Charles Yin looked conflicted. "Uh-oh, I forgot there are two of them. If I'm watching alone..."
Cecilia Gu's eyes were filled with hesitation, just as expected.
Noticing Cecilia's hesitation, Charles Yin seized the moment. "Director Brooks is really important to Yin Enterprises—not just because he's on the Board, but because he's in charge of our energy project with the Mo family."
Charles Yin knew better than anyone how much Cecilia Gu cared about that energy project.
She'd been involved in every step of that project!
That project was all about improving life in Yuanshan Village!
Now that Cecilia Gu was back with the Yun family—even though the Yun family had been erased from domestic records—Yuanshan Village still existed!
Cecilia Gu still cared deeply about everything in Yuanshan Village!
So when Charles Yin mentioned that Director Brooks was in charge of the energy project, Cecilia Gu didn't hesitate: "Alright, I'll help you keep watch! Two people are better than one. Seriously, you're the CEO of Yin Enterprises—you've got tens of thousands of employees, thousands of managers, millions of workers, not to mention all the people in the subsidiaries, and you came out here without even one assistant!"
