Richard and the others also looked at the portrait. After confirming they didn’t recognize the person, Evan Yang grew even more curious—who exactly was this person, why were they looking for him, and why did their search drag the whole bear tribe into trouble? So, the group split up to search, agreeing to notify each other immediately if anyone found any leads.

Evan Yang and Lora Luo formed one team, Richard and Bianca Snow another, and Harlan led the third. The three teams searched in different directions, agreeing to regroup at the original spot for discussion if they didn’t find anything within a day.

“Who do you think it could be?” Evan wondered. He hadn’t offended anyone here—unless you counted the demons, in which case Blue Sky was the most likely suspect.

But how would Blue Sky know about his connection to the bear demons? Lora Luo also fixated on Blue Sky as the main suspect, asking curiously, “Do you think it might be Blue Sky?”

“I’ve thought about that too. Only by finding that guy will we know his true identity, why he’s after me, and why Happy’s entire tribe got dragged into this because of me.” Evan sighed helplessly.

“This isn’t your fault, don’t worry about it,” Lora Luo said.

“I’m just worried about Happy’s safety. If he really got caught by that person, it’ll be a big problem,” Evan said.

“Let’s keep searching. Maybe he hasn’t been taken yet and we’ll see him,” Lora Luo replied.

Evan nodded and continued searching the surroundings with Lora. He also sent out a large flock of Phantom Spirit Birds, ready to relay any news to him immediately.

Time passed bit by bit. After most of the day, Evan and Lora had already walked a long way ahead, moving slowly and methodically as they searched.

Just as Evan was worrying that something might happen to Lora, one of the Phantom Spirit Birds brought news. Seeing its message, Evan was shocked. “Not good, let’s go!”

“What’s wrong?” Lora Luo exclaimed, startled by Evan’s expression.

“Happy is in danger. You go into my tower first, I’ll hurry over.” Evan said.

Lora nodded and entered the tower. Evan quickly activated Meteor Flight Art, which was extremely fast. In no time, he reached a snow mountain and soon found a conspicuous cave.

The Black Mountain Imp was slicing flesh off Happy, when suddenly a sense of crisis hit him. He tried to dodge, but was too slow—his left arm was blasted clean off.

“Ah!” The Black Mountain Imp cried out in pain.

Evan quickly picked up the unconscious Happy and said, “Happy, wake up!”

Happy, still faint, heard someone calling him. He slowly opened his eyes, and when he saw Evan, he was overjoyed. “You’re here!”

Just as Evan was about to speak, the Black Mountain Imp shouted in both anger and shock, “You—you—it’s actually you!”

“Weren’t you waiting for me to come?” Evan snorted coldly. At this moment, Evan had already sensed the opponent’s strength and weakened him somewhat. In other words, Evan was about to fight him, and he actually had a chance to win.

“You! Damn it, I’ll kill you!” The Black Mountain Imp raged. He’d originally hoped to get Evan’s whereabouts from Happy, but instead Evan had been lured here. Normally, that should have been good news, but Evan had ambushed him without a sound, leaving him only able to fight at eighty percent strength.

Evan stored Happy in his tower for Lora to look after, then stood up, his anger radiating outwards. “You dared treat my friend like this—no matter who you are, you won’t get away with it!”

“Ha! So you’re a damn human, and a Heavenly-Immortal at that! I’m a Demon Lord!” The Black Mountain Imp laughed loudly after seeing Evan’s true strength.

“So you know about the cultivation ranks of the Immortal Realm. In that case, do you really think being a Demon Lord makes you so impressive?” Evan asked.

“Hmph, impressive isn’t the word, but dealing with you is more than enough. Even if you wounded me, you won’t get off easy. Take this!” The Black Mountain Imp snorted coldly.

“You’re too arrogant. Today you’ll pay for bullying my friend.” Evan snorted, and the two began their fierce battle.

From the very first clash, the Black Mountain Imp sensed something was wrong—Evan’s strength was overwhelming.

On their first contact, the Black Mountain Imp felt pressure and found Evan strangely unusual. Very few people could fight like this; he was stunned. “What are you, really?”

“Shouldn’t I be asking you? Why are you after me?” Evan wanted to clarify things first.

“Why am I after you? Kid, maybe you don’t know—the Thunderstrike Pearl is my master’s treasure!” The Black Mountain Imp snorted coldly.

When Evan heard this, he finally understood—the owner of the Thunderstrike Pearl had come looking for him.

If someone had politely said it was theirs and asked for it back, Evan might have relented. But since this demon treated Happy like this, there was no way he’d ever return it. He snorted coldly, “So it’s your master’s. If you’d come to me before just to ask for it back, I might have considered it. But after what you did to my friend, even if your master begs me, I’ll never return it!”

The Black Mountain Imp hadn’t expected Evan to be so bold and laughed wildly. “Kid, are you crazy? You think I’ll ask? I’ll just kill you and take it myself.”

“Is that so? Then let’s see who kills whom!” Evan snorted, pulling out his dagger.

Seeing the rusty dagger, the Black Mountain Imp snorted, “Trash.”

Evan ignored him and immediately controlled the dagger, launching a frenzied attack. At first, the Black Mountain Imp didn’t take it seriously, but when the blade accidentally grazed his arm, it split open.

“You!” The Black Mountain Imp was shocked, quickly focusing, intent on killing Evan in one blow.

But when he tried to flash close to Evan, Evan unleashed a burst of flame, blasting him back.

“Hmph! Spitting fire? I want to see how powerful your flame really is.” The Black Mountain Imp knew this wasn’t a good place to fight and darted outside.

Evan certainly wasn’t about to let him go—he had to take him down to be satisfied. He flashed after him, and the two began a fierce battle outside. If any demon saw it, they’d be shocked: a supposedly weaker human was fighting a Demon Lord head-on.

The Black Mountain Imp used the surrounding snow to attack Evan, trying to smother his flames and put them out.

But the snow was nothing to Evan. He gripped his dagger with both hands, flashed behind the Black Mountain Imp, and with a quick slash—squeak!—split open a huge gash on his back. The pain and fury made the Black Mountain Imp roar, “Damn you, damn you!” Evan sneered, “You’re seriously wounded now. Can you still fight?”

“Damn it, you’re too much! I’ll kill you today!” The Black Mountain Imp roared in anger and transformed—his wounds healed, and his body swelled to twice its original size.

“What the—he can do that?” Evan was shocked to see the enemy’s morale rising. But he also knew the Imp’s arm was injured, and such a powerful technique must have its limits. Evan seized the chance, flashed forward, and swung his dagger—just as it was about to strike the Black Mountain Imp...

The Black Mountain Imp snorted, “You think I’ll fall for that again? Damn you!” His doubled hand struck out, sending a wave of force like a Heavenly-Immortal’s, blasting Evan far away.

Evan steadied himself a dozen meters away. “I didn’t expect you to become so strong after using that technique.”

“You forced me to this! Do you know how many years it took to master this technique?” the Black Mountain Imp fumed. He’d knocked Evan back, but hadn’t truly hurt him.

“I don’t care how many years or how strong you are—today, I will defeat you!” Evan’s anger flared as he thought of Happy’s injuries.

The Black Mountain Imp sneered, “You think I’m the same as before? My strength has doubled—can you still beat me? Ridiculous.”
