Julian King put on a look of enlightenment. "Right, right, right. It’s peaceful times now, where are we supposed to experience fear? Going abroad is probably out of the question."
Of course Charles Yin knew it was out of the question.
He would never let Cecilia Gu take another risk again!
Just that one experience already made him regret it to his core!
And you want a next time?
Keep dreaming!
"Who says we have to take risks? We could do some teamwork activities! Like hiking?" Charles Yin’s mind was racing. "Y Province has plenty of mountains, and some are pretty steep. We could go hiking, and when she gets tired, you can carry her. Wouldn’t that be a great way to create some sparks?"
Julian King’s eyes lit up, then dimmed again. "But what if I’m the one who gets tired first? What then?"
Charles Yin:
#As a CEO, is it really appropriate to get physical with a noble heir? Asking for a friend.#
So with Charles Yin and Cecilia Gu working together, everyone finally settled on the plan.
The next morning, everyone met up at the usual spot, all geared up for hiking!
Why call it a group activity?
Because besides Cecilia Gu, Charles Yin, Sophie Mo, and Julian King, there was a whole entourage of assistants and bodyguards…
Honestly, with Cecilia Gu’s curse of running into trouble every time she goes out, Charles Yin was genuinely scared!
He absolutely wouldn’t allow anything to happen to Cecilia again, so he brought as many bodyguards and assistants as possible!
Every kind of survival gear—if they could bring it, they did!
Sophie Mo couldn’t help but tease, "People who know we’re just going hiking, but people who don’t might think we’re off to conquer Nepal!"
Pfft…that’s so accurate!
Cecilia Gu said helplessly, "Nothing we can do. Just let him bring it all. Anyway, we’ll be up front while they’re behind us! Let’s just pretend we’re leading our own hiking group. We’re the leaders! We’ll take them up the mountain!"
Sophie Mo thought it over, and this really was the only way.
She might tease, but she didn’t actually want anything to go wrong.
After what happened out at sea recently, nobody wanted any more trouble.
Safety first, above all!
Everyone packed up their gear and drove toward their destination.
At that moment, the four of them were in a luxury RV, studying the map.
"Wow, this map is way too basic!" Julian King’s eyes nearly popped out. "Why don’t we just use satellite maps? Everyone’s phone has GPS!"
Sophie Mo shot him a look. "That’s the whole point! If we just use GPS, where’s the fun?"
Cecilia Gu grinned. "Exactly! Today’s game is to use only this map to find our target, then complete camping, planting, and harvesting tasks in the wild, and return by a different route. We’ve got ten days—plenty of time for fun!"
Charles Yin smiled at Cecilia—if his wife was happy, he was happy!
His wife’s smile was just beautiful!
Julian King was stunned. "Where did you even get this idea?"
Cecilia Gu tilted her head. "TV’s full of these shows now! Survival, escaping danger, reality shows about celebrities, and matchmaking programs where couples leave once they’re paired up. They all use simple hand-drawn maps and complete tasks from the producers. I think it’s a great, challenging idea!"
Julian King was beyond words.
Sophie Mo was excited. "Yeah, I’ve always thought those shows looked fun, but my family would never let me go on TV. Oh well, this is close enough!"
Charles Yin smiled. "I’ve already arranged for a cameraman and satellite stream. Once we get out, cameras will follow us and broadcast our ten-day adventure to our families."
Julian King:
Mr. Yin, are you sure it’s okay to spoil your wife this much?
This satellite stream was your wife’s idea too, wasn’t it?
You’re not here to play matchmaker for me and Susie—you’re just here to make your wife happy, aren’t you?
Mr. Yin, that’s enough!
Cecilia Gu was getting more and more energized. She grabbed four backpacks, handed one to each person, and grinned, "Everyone’s got the same stuff in their backpack. If you need anything extra from the bodyguards, you’ll have to buy it!"
Julian King was brimming with confidence. "That’s easy. I’ve got a ton of cards on me."
"Cash only," Cecilia added helpfully.
Julian King was silent for a moment, then suddenly yelled, "I need to find an ATM!"
The other three burst out laughing in the RV.
Thanks to Julian King’s unreliable antics, all the tension finally disappeared.
The maps they had were so basic, it was almost painful to look at.
So, the four of them had their first disagreement about which way to go.
"Hey, hey, did we get the map upside down?" Cecilia Gu stared at her map, then glanced at the others’ equally terrible maps. "Let’s change positions and piece them together!"
When the four maps were put together, they made a complete map.
But even after working on it for ages, the four still couldn’t get it right.
Charles Yin stared at it for ages and still couldn’t make any sense of it.
This map would give anyone a headache.
Aside from a few simple lines, there weren’t even basic scale markers. Just a mountain here, a river there, and a flower that looked like a kid drew it to represent a meadow.
With a map like this, even a special forces soldier might not be able to find anything!
Let alone a bunch of newbies!
At Cecilia’s suggestion, the four of them quickly changed angles and tried piecing the map together again.
Watching their serious faces, the assistants standing nearby all felt like their eyes were going blind.
After another ten-plus minutes of rearranging, they finally got the map right.
Sophie Mo and Cecilia Gu high-fived at the same time. "Oh yeah! Now let’s figure out where we are!"
Julian King’s eyes spun in circles. "How do you know where we are? Without GPS, we’re just on the road!"
Sophie Mo ran to the window, comparing the outside scenery to the map that looked like it was drawn by a two-year-old.
"Everyone pay attention to the landmarks on both sides and compare them to the map," Cecilia Gu said with a smile.
Charles Yin and Julian King exchanged a look and started checking the scenery outside.
Julian King stared for ages, then pointed at a wind turbine in the distance. "Hey, is this marked on the map?"
The others immediately checked their maps.
Huh? Those weird vertical lines—could they be the wind turbines?
"Look, there’s a river here, and the map has a curve. That curve must be the river, right?" Sophie Mo called out as she made another discovery.
"It really does look like it!" Cecilia Gu said, pinching her chin. "What do you think, Charles?"
"Yep, my wife is always right," Charles Yin replied, pretending to be serious.
Julian King and Sophie Mo both rolled their eyes.
Going on a trip with these two was a mistake!
All this PDA—anyone would get annoyed in seconds!
"From here to the destination, we have to go through all these places," Cecilia Gu said, pointing at the map. "Looks like we’ve got another half hour to go."
Charles Yin agreed with his wife’s guess, no questions asked.
Whatever his wife said was right. Even if she was wrong, she was still right!
So the whole group waited eagerly, and after half an hour, they arrived at the destination and started the challenge.
But after walking and walking, three hours went by and they still hadn’t reached the spot for the first task.
Did we take the wrong route?
No way!
After ages of discussion, the four finally couldn’t help but ask Little A, who’d been involved the whole time. At first, Little A didn’t want to say anything—orders from the boss!
But seeing the hopeful look in the young madam’s eyes, Little A finally explained: "This map isn’t to scale. That distance isn’t normal. It looks close on the map, but it’s actually really far."
The four:
Well, whatever. Another hour later, they finally reached the spot for the first task!
The cameramen got into position and started filming, live-streaming to several families.
To keep the map intact, everyone copied the whole thing by hand.
Yep, copied by hand…no photocopies allowed…
No photos allowed either!
Cecilia Gu turned to the camera and flashed a victory sign. "Our team is definitely finishing first!"
Charles Yin raised his eyebrows at the camera. "That’s right—my wife is always right!"
On the other team, Sophie Mo pumped her fist at the camera. "This time, we’re going to show Cici what real skill looks like! Mountain climbing? Treasure hunting? Ha! Who’s the best at finding things in Y Province? The Mo Family’s Sophie!"
Julian King leaned into the camera, thinking hard. "Why does that sound so familiar? I feel like I’ve heard it somewhere before."
Sophie Mo rolled her eyes at Julian King, grabbed his sleeve, and dragged him forward.
The two teams officially split up, each followed by their own assistants, bodyguards, and cameramen.
The first task: see which team can find the hidden device and deliver it to the designated spot first.
The winners get to choose the next task.
Their game was broadcast to the Mo Family, Yin Family, King Family, and other friends’ private channels.
Even Hans in the South Pacific and Earl Field in London got to watch.
At first, nobody understood what they were up to.
But as their hilariously clueless navigation was broadcast, everyone started tuning in, guessing where the hidden item might be.
The four had a blast playing in the mountains, while their families gossiped and cheered them on back home.
