The lightning strikes continued, my entire body wracked with deadly currents. These currents came from Benny Bull himself, tearing through my Deathbane Aura, trying to invade my Ghost Soul bit by bit.
The paralysis left my mind blank, like a lump of paste—my thoughts had all but ceased.
Dust whipped around me, and Benny Bull’s arrogant laughter echoed in my ears.
Finding a way to adapt and restrain him in such a short time was anything but easy. For a brute-force opponent like this, only brute force would do.
I forced my head up, opened my mouth, and bit down on Benny Bull’s neck.
Instantly, an even stronger wave of paralysis swept over me—I cried out in shock.
“You dare bite me? You little punk, you’ve got a death wish.”
Suddenly, my eyes snapped open—my body began to swell.
“Imitation...”
With a thunderous crash, like a bolt from the sky, Benny Bull and I broke apart, thrown backward and landing hard on the ground. I scrambled up, standing on all fours.
Benny Bull shook his head, staring at me in shock. I now looked exactly like him.
“Good! That’s perfect—hahahaha...”
With a loud bang, Benny Bull and I crashed together. Our horns collided, unleashing violent lightning. His strength was overwhelming—I could barely hold on. I toppled to the side, only to find my horns locked tightly by Benny Bull. With a roar, he hurled me skyward.
A streak of purple lightning flashed before my eyes—another rapid charge. My body was pierced again. This time, the paralysis was completely neutralized, because I had bitten Benny Bull and Tong Ghost used its power. But I lost in terms of raw strength and speed.
My Ghost Soul was damaged again—I didn’t want this fight to drag on.
The instant I hit the ground, I released Tong Ghost’s power. Raising Belle, I slashed out several Wind Blades. Benny Bull transformed into a streak of purple lightning, descending from above and easily dispersing the Wind Blades.
With a metallic clang, I drove Belle into the ground and raised both hands—summoning a rocket launcher. It was the most powerful firearm I had right now.
With a bang, I pulled the trigger. A black Deathbane Bullet struck the purple lightning, sending wild, chaotic streams blasting in all directions. I immediately shifted into a state of disgust—my attack was useless against him. His skin was tougher than I’d expected.
“Don’t even think about running...”
With a rush, I reformed in the Black Mist. Belle pulsed with raging Deathbane Aura as I swung at Benny Bull.
Bang! The purple lightning crackled and crawled over my body, sending me flying.
This enemy was far trickier than I’d imagined—neither wit nor brute force could win here. For now, I was on the defensive.
The moment I hit the ground, Benny Bull’s horns hooked me and flung me high into the air.
“Since ancient times, we of the Nether Syndicate have been feared by ghosts—because we know ghosts better than they know themselves...”
Benny Bull’s horn stabbed into my body, slamming me hard into the ground.
“This blow will keep you down.”
My eyes widened as thunder boomed overhead. Streaks of purple lightning gathered in the sky, pressing down with overwhelming force—I couldn’t move.
Something was behind me. I turned my head—at some point, a circular Violet Thunder Array had appeared on the ground, covered in a layer of purple currents.
“Thunderstrike Spell... Boom...”
I spat out a mouthful of Ghost Blood with a sickening splatter. The force felt like it would crush my Ghost Soul. Mouth gaping, I was pinned to the ground in agony. Chains of purple lightning wrapped around me, locking me tight in the array.
Benny Bull had returned to human form, standing outside the array, mocking me.
“What’s wrong? Weren’t you full of energy just now? What happened?”
I ignored his mockery, quietly observing. He looked tired, panting heavily.
“Haven’t moved like this in ages. This is just right—when I get back, I’ll finally get a good night’s sleep.”
I stared at him in surprise, then asked,
“Aren’t the people here already dead?”
“Let me tell you—this is a ritual called the Eternal Rite, created by our first generation leader. Even if we of the Nether Syndicate die, we return to the Nether Pit and continue to exist in this world. That old crone seemed to have some connection to you, actually went easy on me—hmph...”
A gust of wind swept by. I sneered and said,
“She wasn’t going easy on you. How many years has it been since you’ve known anything about the world of the living?”
Benny Bull’s eyes widened. A streak of black wind brushed past his neck—with a ripping sound, he clutched his bleeding throat, staring blankly at me as the array slowly unraveled itself.
“If everything here is endless for me—no way out, no end—then what about you? What does eternity mean for those trapped in the Nether Pit?”
I stood up. Benny Bull clutched his throat, glaring at me.
“You... you clearly...”
I lowered my head and glanced at the two gaping wounds in my body.
“Yeah, my Ghost Soul’s been pierced. If I were a regular ghost, I’d be weak or even dying by now. But I, Ethan Zhang, am neither human nor ghost.”
The wounds slowly began to heal. Unless my Ghost Soul suffers a truly fatal blow, I can recover quickly.
The Wind Blades I released earlier had worked. Yin Ghost was inside them—Benny Bull hadn’t noticed.

“Ethan, you don’t need to handle this personally. Against someone like him, just give me your power and I’ll take care of it easily.”
I glanced at Yin Ghost and shook my head. I didn’t want to reveal all my strength just yet, not knowing what I’d face next.
