Poisoning (2)

12/2/2025

Morgan Shangguan closed her eyes in comfort. In the quiet room, only the soft sounds of water and her heartbeat remained. Her mind was unusually calm, almost drowsy.

After a while, a small hand unconsciously climbed onto Damien Gray's chest, resting right over his heart. Her fingers tapped lightly, perfectly matching the rhythm of his heartbeat.

Damien Gray raised an eyebrow but said nothing, continuing his task. After some time, the hand on his chest began to slide upward. Her fair arm curled around his neck like a serpent. Suddenly, Morgan Shangguan opened her eyes, tilted her head, and kissed his lips. Damien, of course, did not evade her, letting her lips press against his, a teasing glint in his eyes as he laughed, "What is my Princess Consort doing?"

Morgan Shangguan gently bit his lip, frowned, and said, "It seems Your Highness is rather unwilling." Her eyes held a trace of regret as she sighed, "Then forget it!" With that, she tried to pull away.

Damien Gray chuckled softly and grabbed the back of her head, pulling her lips back to his again just as they began to part.

Morgan Shangguan reached out to push him away, but she was too late. She glared at Damien Gray, seeing the triumphant smile on his face, and gritted her teeth. "Tomorrow, I'll destroy the Ghost Guild!" She had only meant to kiss him, but it led to serious consequences. Clearly, she shouldn't kiss him so casually in the future!

Seeing her gritting her teeth, Damien Gray couldn't help but smile. Had she overestimated him? Did she really think he could remain indifferent? With other women, perhaps, but when it came to her, he could never resist—and he didn't need to. He knew she enjoyed this intimacy too.

Damien Gray held her slender waist and said carelessly, "Is my Princess Consort warning me that I should make sure you can't get out of bed tomorrow?" Seeing how lively she was, he realized he had underestimated her. How could he forget that his Princess Consort was extraordinary—nothing like those delicate young ladies who were out of breath after just a few steps!

Morgan Shangguan snorted coldly and glared at him fiercely.

Damien Gray chuckled again. Morgan Shangguan didn't argue with him and instead kissed his jaw, rubbing her cheek against his face with a satisfied sigh.

She loved the feeling of skin-to-skin intimacy with him. It was so warm—a warmth that seeped into the deepest, darkest corners of her heart. Once she had tasted that warmth, she never wanted to let go.

Morgan Shangguan glanced at him and turned to kiss his lips.

After a long bout of passion, Damien Gray carried her back to their room. The two quietly embraced. Suddenly, Morgan Shangguan whispered, "Damien Gray, if you ever betray me, I swear I'll make you wish you were dead." Her voice was soft—a gentle murmur, not a threat, but a simple statement of fact.

She had never been one to demand much, and words like these were never meant to leave her lips. But Damien Gray meant more to her than she had ever expected. Even though she knew they were the same kind of people, she still felt uneasy. She never dared hope for happiness, yet it had arrived so suddenly. Having tasted it, she greedily refused to let it go, and so her heart trembled, fearing it was only a dream.

But Morgan Shangguan was never ordinary. Even if she felt uneasy, what she had decided would always be hers. Even if it was just a dream, as long as she didn’t call it to a halt, it had to continue. Otherwise, her fury was not something anyone could bear!

Damien Gray's arms tightened around her, a hint of pain flickering in his eyes. It wasn't the first time he'd seen Morgan Shangguan's vulnerability, but this time it hurt even more. He kissed her gently on the temple—not making any vows, just softly uttering two words: "Never will."

His thoughts were always deeply hidden, impossible for others to decipher. But he himself always knew exactly what he was doing. He understood how much she meant to him—she was already an indispensable part of his life. No matter what happened before, from now on, he could lose everything except her.

Morgan Shangguan said no more, simply lying quietly in his arms, falling into a peaceful sleep.

"Mo'er..."

The soft call by her ear made Morgan Shangguan frown slightly. She opened her eyes to see Damien Gray's smiling gaze. Turning to look out the window, she realized it was already morning.

Damien Gray reached out and picked her up, smiling as he said, "The weather is nice today. Let's go boating on the lake."

Boating on the lake? Morgan Shangguan looked him over and asked, "Why go boating all of a sudden?"

Damien Gray picked up a dress from the side and helped her get dressed. Hearing her question, he shook his head with a smile, "My Princess Consort really doesn't know how to enjoy romance!"

Morgan Shangguan didn't argue, lazily glancing at him and reminding, "Did you forget you're still under house arrest?"

Damien Gray only smiled and called Susie Yun in to help Morgan wash up, then instructed someone to bring breakfast into the room.

After they finished breakfast, Damien Gray handed Morgan Shangguan a veil, raising his eyebrows with a smile. "If the Ghostmaster goes boating with a beauty, who could possibly object?"

A hint of amusement flashed in Morgan Shangguan's eyes. Who would dare object? The Ghostmaster was ruthless, cold, and mysterious; his enigmatic veil only added to the fear and awe he inspired. Even Emperor Alexander, before knowing his true capabilities, would be hesitant to provoke him!

But if the Ghostmaster appeared at such a sensitive time, it would surely stir up trouble. Now, the Lotus Sect had sided with Crown Prince Adrian, while Liam Duanmu, the Martial Alliance Chief, supported Prince Ethan. It was hard to say which side was stronger. If the Ghostmaster showed up, he would be a prized ally, and both sides would compete to win him over. Even Emperor Alexander might be curious about this mysterious figure and want to test his strength.

But Damien Gray paid these things no mind. It was just a boat ride—once he disappeared again, who could possibly find him?

At that moment, Susie Yun entered carrying two cups of tea. Drinking tea had become a habit for Morgan Shangguan, but she only drank tea brewed from Blue Mist Blossom. Ever since Damien Gray began staying with Morgan, Susie Yun would always bring two cups without being asked.
