"Miss Yi, please tell me, you should know something about the Immortality Society, right?"
I looked seriously at Isabelle Frost, hoping to learn something from her. She smiled faintly and said:
"Sit down. I do know a part of it. Let me tell you how this organization came to stand before us."
Several centuries ago, back when the Seven Ghost Sovereigns had just risen to power, their clashes with the Underworld Court kept escalating, eventually erupting into war.
However, in the living world, the Seven Ghost Sovereigns had already established a solid foundation during the hundred years after escaping from Abyssal Hell. The Underworld Court suffered heavy losses— even sending the Ten Marshals of Hades and their ghostly armies, and joining forces with the Arcane Society, they still could do nothing against the Seven Ghost Sovereigns.
Faced with this, two opposing factions emerged within the Underworld Court: the Suppression Faction led by Emperor Song, and the Peace Faction led by the Fifth Tribunal Yama.
Years of debate followed. During this time, the ghosts of the Blood Fiend Hall in John Chou's domain began to openly disregard the Underworld Court, committing an act that shocked everyone.
Led by the martial faction's Zhuang Bo, a hundred ghosts from John Chou's domain charged straight at Ghost City Fengdu— the largest outpost of the Underworld Court in the living world— and wiped it out, infuriating the entire Underworld Court.
The Fengdu outpost was completely uprooted. No matter how angry they were, there was no way to recover it— even the passage to the Underworld Court had been severed by the hundred ghosts.
After this, chaos in the living world intensified. More and more evil ghosts gathered under the Ghost Sovereigns, and their power kept growing stronger.
Back then, Isabelle Frost, unable to wait any longer for John Chou, came up to the world of the living. In the end, with no other choice, she joined the Hall of Malice. At first, those Blue Wraiths all looked down on her.
In the Hall of Malice, power is everything. Ghosts without strength can only run errands. At that time, Isabelle Frost was furious. For several months, she defeated John Chou’s hundred ghosts one by one. Only then did everyone finally acknowledge her.
There was another faction in the Hall of Malice, led by Victor Wu—the Peace Faction. They weren’t like the Warrior Faction, stirring up trouble everywhere and clashing with the other Ghost Sovereigns’ followers.
But then, something happened: Lady Yvonne May’s personal maid, Linda Long, mysteriously disappeared, leaving behind a clue pointing straight to Redmond’s Hall of Malice.
Lady Yvonne May led her followers and clashed violently with Redmond. John Chou watched the fight with a spectator’s amusement, as did the other Ghost Sovereigns.
When both sides were battered, Basil Bertram intervened to calm things down, urging everyone to think things through. After much persuasion, he managed to keep both sides safe—for the moment.
But then, disaster struck again. Mona Ouyang’s domain was wiped out—except for the Hundred Ghosts in her Dreamworld, all other ghosts suffered heavy casualties. The traces left at the scene were unmistakably ghostly.
It wasn’t just Mona Ouyang’s Nightmare Hall—every Ghost Sovereign faced trouble of some kind.
At that point, Isabelle Frost sensed something was wrong. The seven Ghost Sovereigns convened and agreed: no one should act rashly. It all felt like a scheme to pit them against each other. They finally saw through it.
John Chou asked Isabelle Frost to investigate alone. Using her abilities, she traced Linda Long’s disappearance—her location and aura—until she found the source: Dao Sect disciples had trapped her atop Sanctuary Peak, one of the Dao Sect’s Nine Gates.
