Water and Fire Clash

12/2/2025

Liam Liu was just about to slip away from everyone's sight, secretly rejoicing, when a sudden pain shot through his knee. He fell straight to the ground, attracting everyone's attention. Realizing escape was now impossible, he couldn't help but blame the heavens for their unfairness. Just a little more, just a little more and he would have gotten away!

Why is it always just a little too late? Gritting his teeth, he tried to stand up, but no matter how hard he struggled, he simply couldn't.

Kimberly Liu had been listening to Ethan Gu and Maxwell Jing, surprised by the ambiguous relationship between them. At the same time, she understood their intent—Ethan Gu had clearly seen Liam Liu sneaking away but did nothing. He was waiting for the last moment, for Liam to think he was about to succeed, just to crush him with despair.

That was truly cruel!

Maxwell Jing didn't spare a glance at Liam Liu. Instead, he watched Ethan Gu's satisfied smile and muttered resentfully through clenched teeth, "It's all my own fault!" Back then, he had stayed in Healer's Sanctuary for the good food and comfort, which led to a mistake he'd regret for life—agreeing to stay and accompany Ethan. Now, he was stuck for this lifetime. How naive he had been!

He would never admit it, but the real reason he stayed was because he couldn't bear to see those icy eyes, so bright after melting, freeze over again.

Just then, Noah Duanmu made the first move, and he and Liam Duanmu quickly became entangled in a fight. Morgan Shangguan watched the two, furrowing her brow and sighing softly, "Damien, it seems your son can only be taught by you personally!" In truth, both Liam Duanmu and Noah Duanmu were skilled, but the baby's standards kept rising. Previously, she had Ethan Gu and Maxwell Jing spar, and at first it was fascinating, but after two or three times, the baby lost interest, watching with sleepy eyes and no enthusiasm. There was nothing to be done—she couldn't ask the baby to spar with Damien Gray, and he wouldn't agree anyway!

Everyone's attention was on the fight between Liam Duanmu and Noah Duanmu, so no one noticed Morgan Shangguan's quiet words.

Damien Gray frowned deeply. Teach his own son personally? That would mean he'd never be rid of him.

Everyone watched the two fighters, equally matched, their faces full of surprise. Noah Duanmu's reputation as a second-generation troublemaker was well known. People were polite to him only out of respect for Quentin Drake and Liam Duanmu. In the martial world, skill is everything, and a person with only mediocre abilities is secretly looked down upon. But now, seeing him go toe-to-toe with the Martial Alliance Chief, utterly at ease, was truly astonishing!

Quentin Drake watched the scene, uncertain whether to feel worried or pleased. In the past, he had always been disappointed in Noah Duanmu, hoping he would become more ambitious and devoted to martial arts. Now, seeing Noah's profound skills, he should have been happy, but instead, anxiety crept in. If Noah truly turned to the dark path and aided evil, what then?

No, he had to stop him—he couldn't let Noah make such a grave mistake! With that thought, he joined the fray himself.

When the crowd saw this weapon, a gasp rippled through them. The Jade Flute signified a unique identity—Noah Jadeflute! The notorious playboy Noah Duanmu was actually the formidable Noah Jadeflute?

Damien Gray watched the scene and frowned. It seemed the fight would go on for a while. He glanced at the enthusiastic Morgan Shangguan, and couldn't help but smile. She said the baby wasn't interested, yet she herself was watching with relish—maybe she was the one who wanted to see the action?

Quentin Drake and Liam Duanmu were somewhat prepared, so they weren't as surprised. They revealed their own weapons, and the three clashed again.

Morgan Shangguan sat down without hesitation. Then someone brought a small table, set it beside her, placed tea and some snacks on it.

Morgan helped herself, eating for one but with the appetite of three—she really was hungry!

Everyone watching was speechless. How had they only just realized that the Cloud Guildmaster was such a lover of comfort?

They watched as the black-clad men finished setting everything up, then vanished without a trace. People couldn't help but marvel at how well-trained the Cloud Guild members were. Yet no one realized—they were actually from the Ghost Guild!

Members of the Ghost Guild were always high-profile; wherever they appeared, they wore their signature ghost masks. So everyone had gotten used to thinking that if someone wasn't wearing a mask, they couldn't be from the Ghost Guild. Maybe that was exactly Damien Gray's intention!

With Quentin Drake joining in, Noah Duanmu could no longer remain at ease. Suddenly, the three entangled fighters broke apart, each standing their ground, faces filled with gravity.

Noah Duanmu's hand flicked, and a jade flute appeared in his grasp. No one could tell where he'd hidden it before.

Though the flute was made of jade, it lacked the usual gentle warmth, instead radiating a chilling aura—even more intense than the glint of a blade!

When the crowd saw this weapon, a gasp rippled through them. The jade flute signified a unique identity—Noah Jadeflute! The notorious playboy Noah Duanmu was actually the formidable Jadeflute Master?

Quentin Drake and Liam Duanmu were somewhat prepared, so they weren't as surprised. They revealed their own weapons, and the three clashed again.

Seeing everyone's confused and uncertain expressions, Morgan Shangguan glanced away, eyeing the grapes on the little table. She frowned in mild frustration, shot a look at Damien Gray, and finally, with resignation, picked up a piece of candied fruit and popped it in her mouth.

Damien Gray watched her regretful expression with amusement, shaking his head—how had she become so lazy?

Then, everyone saw a group of masked Ghost Guild members swarm in. As the crowd tensed, thinking the Ghostmaster was about to act, the black-clad, masked figures quickly surrounded the Ghostmaster and the Cloud Guildmaster, but did nothing else. The crowd couldn't help but wonder—what was their purpose?

The group formed a tight circle, completely shielding the two from outside eyes. Though curiosity burned, no one dared approach to investigate. Speculation ran wild—were the Ghostmaster and Cloud Guildmaster about to have a falling out? But why weren't the Cloud Guild members reacting? Weren't they worried about their leader being at a disadvantage?
