I looked at Lee Four in confusion—he actually started to smile. Seeing such a stern ghost, now with the corners of his mouth curling up, laughing, felt utterly unbelievable to me.
Lee Four left the bench and walked over to us, squatting down in front of me. Brother Owen looked pale, his lips cracked, head tilted. Apparently, that flying spell had drained him too much. Just now, I saw Brother Owen get stabbed in the back by Louis Lee and Lee Four—there was still fresh blood visible.
I looked around. Other than the looming shadow of Louis Lee, the place was shrouded in suffocating darkness—almost no other ghosts in sight. The oppressive silence pressed in on me, making it clear that I could only wait for my body to recover before there was any hope of escape.
"What's your name?" The wraith called Lee Four asked.
I looked at Lee Four and answered slowly.
"My name is Ethan Zhang."
In that instant, Lee Four's expression changed—he looked utterly shocked, staring at me. Then, the smile vanished from Louis Lee's face as well.
"You... you... you're that Ethan Zhang? The one everyone's talking about now, the one who befriended two Ghost Sovereigns—that Ethan Zhang?"
Louis Lee blurted it out. I stared at him, stunned.
"Where did you hear that?"
Lee Four burst out laughing, then shook his head.
"No wonder you're so bold. If I had half your courage back then, I wouldn't have..." Lee Four's voice grew low and somber as he spoke, then he glanced at Louis Lee, smiling as he walked over.
"Brother Lee, should we notify Boss Ma that we've caught this kid?"
Lee Four spoke, patting Louis Lee on the shoulder.
"Go bring that ghost girl out first."
Louis Lee nodded eagerly, smiling as he dashed off.
"What are you trying to do?" I shouted.
Lee Four stared at me in silence, then asked again.
"To you, that ghost girl—what is she, really? She's just some random ghost, isn't she?"
"She's nothing special, just an ordinary ghost. She called me 'brother' once, that's all."
